Reviewed October 15, 2008

We got married at the hotel and we seemed to spend our first week waiting around for the Wedding Coordinator, and the Registrar so we felt our first week was a bit wasted. Saying that the Wedding went well, because the weather wasn't that great they moved us from the garden to Morgan's Pier. Which was a nice venue, the Steel Band were great and Kendal and Jessica were very helpful. The Hotel also upgraded our room to an Ocean View which was really nice, and decorated the bed after our Wedding. Unfortunately our room flooded through the window everytime it poured and we were left having to put towels down to dry the floor otherwise we where slipping and sliding everywhere. Apart from that the room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

The Reception staff were helpful and friendly, but watch the Jewellery Shop as they try to make out you have grabbed a bargin, when it is not a lot of difference from home prices.

First week was good, no getting up at the crack of dawn for sunbeds at the pool or the beach. It got a bit confusing over having to book for dinner in the evening as they wanted 3 days notice, we couldn't understand that one as the hotel was only 30% full. The Palms and Bambou were the best restuarants. Morgan's Pier forgot our order and made us wait 40 mins, before they realised they had forgotten us. A couple of times at breakfast we had to keep asking for some water/tea/coffee but otherwise the staff were friendly. It would have been nice in the evening if they kept one of the resatuarants either The Palms or Bambou as a buffet, where you could just help yourself. They would have been able to deal with the amount of people easier.

The second week things changed ....it suddendely became very busy. We found out that they had shut the Smugglers Cove (sister hotel) due to poor hygiene, and all the people had been sent to AMB. We were talking to one couple who said that main restaurant had burnt down three months ago and they had been shipping food in from somewhere else lukewarm. Plus there was mould on the walls of there room.

AMB had completely changed, we heard that some people had been queing for breakfast as they only had one restuarant open to deal with all the extra people. Then they had run out of clean plates and cutlery.

Plus the place had turned into Lager Lout city, it seemed to be who could drink as much as possible, and ignore all signs for not jumping or diving in the pools, and watch football in the Sunset Lounge during the day. So many people had England football shirts and were really loud/drunk. It also seemed to turned into a massive Kindergarten, I don't know where all these kids had come from, but I think the review earlier on Trip Advisor was right about it being the "Butlins of the Carribbean". There were screaming brats everywhere, and the parents didn't seem to have any control (or didn't want to!) over their brats! One night in The Palms there was a kid playing his recorder (out of tune) while everyone was eating. No consideration for anyone else, the parents didn't say anything to him!

You had to be up at 07.00 hrs to guarantee getting a sunbed both on the beach and by the pools.

We also found it incredible that we couldn't eat in the restuarants before 20:30 hrs in the evening as all the places had gone. As we are quite earlier eaters at home by the time 20:30 hrs came we were not hungry anymore. The one night we did eat in Le Jardine (at 20:30 hrs), there was no table available for us even though we had booked, so we had to wait for a while. Our starters came and went then we were waiting nearly an hour for our main meals to turn up. When I questioned the waiter about where our food was, he said that ours was coming after they had served the table next to us. When it did turn up it wasn't very nice. After that we decided to eat out in Rodney Bay, as we couldn't be bothered with the hassle.

We do reccomend the Buzz Restuarant in Rodney Bay, and if you get fed up with the Hotel food there are quite a few restuarants there which cater for everyone. Watch out as my husband got proposition by a very "friendly lady" looking for business. She was harmless and left us alone after saying "No thanks!"

Also on our last day, it says you have to be out of the room 12:00 hrs, we were hassled by the cleaner from about 09:30 hrs to be out, so she could come in and clean it.

Otherwise St Lucia is a beautiful island with lots to see and do. We did the Dolphin and Whale trip and were lucky to see 20 Pilot Whales and loads of Dolphins swimming with our boat. We did the Jeep Safari, and the Zip Line in the Rain Forest, it was good even though I am scared of heights, I managed to do the 80ft zip. It is very safe and the guides are very helpful and will tamden down with you if gets too much.

We also went to "Jump Up" (which is the local street party)which is held on Friday nights in Gros Islet, the locals were friendly enough but watch where you buy drinks from as some people got a bit ripped off. Some of the locals and lots of dogs were begging for food, it made me feel really awful, but these people are very poor compared to us and I suppose it is a way of life for them. Also watch as some of them hassle you to buy drugs from them!

Well what can I say, we have just returned from a fab time in St Lucia with 20 family and friends for our wedding. We were married on the Pier which I suggest just in case you get a downpour or its too hot. They decorated it beautifully in all the colours that I requested, they need a bit of a push to make sure things are done in time but it was no problem. We used the hotel photographer and the pics were great, everybody back home could not believe the quality.

Joys boat cruises was a must and Phillip was a captain, full of info and a really nice chap.
Our room was massive, clean and the staff helpful, they kept my lot happy 99% of the time, I believe there is always room for improvement. I have travelled to many countries and will be returning to St Lucia. A great trip had by all. Don't just stay in resort go to the Friday night Jump Up and mix with the locals and head to Rodney Bay and check out the trendy new bars. Buzz was also fab for seafood, cheap and excellent quality.

We recently returned from a two week stay at the Almond Morgan Bay. When we arrived at the hotel we received a very warm reception from the management. We were given rum punch for the adults and fruit punch for the children who arrived on the bus with us from the airport, whilst we waited for a golf buggy to take us to our room. The hotel is a resort in itself! We had a party of 12 adults. The property was fantastic and everyone in my group has stated that they never experienced such incredible service. I really cannot understand why some of the reviews are so bad. As I stated we were a party of 12 and went there to get married. My wedding was truly beautiful, personal and memorable. I read some of the reviews before coming out and took the advice of so many of you and hired Wedding Photographer Bill Mortley (info@billmortleyphotography.com) to shoot my wedding. Thank you so much Trip Advisor Community…He was simply fantastic!!! Not to mention… patient and so kind, nothing was a problem for him do. We also found him to be an extremely honest individual. The hotel photographer, Kendal Moonie was also in attendance and took the required photos which the hotel gives you free in an 8x10 frame. The photos he took did not compare at all to the ones Bill took even though they stood side by side to take them. Kendall is a nice guy and his photos will appear very good I guess, if they are not compared to anyone else’s, but fortunately for us, we hired Bill Mortley and were able to take home with us some GREAT photos of our wedding. Some of those moments he captured brings tears to my eyes whenever I look at them. I don’t know why anyone would choose to hire the hotel to shoot their wedding when Bill is available, because I also had a look at an album from another couple we befriended, which was shot by the other very pleasant photographer Alphia Natram, and again our images were superior by far!

Our wedding ceremony was held in the gazebo which was beautifully decorated with material and tropical flowers. The magistrate said some really beautiful words and the ceremony was very moving we didn’t write our own vows or anything, just allowed them to do as they normally do and it was fabulous! If you are getting married there you should really allow for the 50 images Bill takes but prepare yourself… he shoots about 400 images and you will have a difficult time choosing 50 from those. You will want to buy ALL of them. We did!! So please factor that in to your budget. Bill is very reasonable and will give you a good deal on all of them.

We were housed in an Ocean View room overlooking the ocean which was superb and well worth the extra money. The gardens are very well tendered with adequate staff to cater to your every need.
The food is very good and there is a good choice for all meals, we sampled food in all of the restaurants and I can truthfully say that we did not have a bad meal. We booked the 'Le Jardin' a French style restaurant, but found the Nouvelle cuisine, the starter was a bit small … I mean small spoon of it in the middle of an oversize dish, with some 'Chef's art' on it. It was enjoyable all the same. Only problem was that we found the service a wee bit slow compared to the other restaurants.

The evening entertainment was pretty good, especially the dancers who were superb and put on four different shows throughout our two-week stay. The entertainment draws to a close at 10pm but we didn't mind that, as we were always up so early every day (our body clocks never really adjusted fully to Caribbean time!).

YOU MUST go out on Joy’s cruise! You will find him on the beach and can book the trip there. You may have to get some other people to sign up with you so that you can get a better deal. You should also visit the city of Castries but please don’t take a taxi to do so. It is so much cheaper to simply walk to the front of the hotel cross the road, and take a bus going into the city. The cost is only EC$1.00 compared to the US$15.00 one-way a taxi will charge you. On the way back, just walk back to where the bus dropped you off and take one back to the hotel. If you can afford it, take the helicopter back to the airport and have your camera ready to take some great photos.

St. Lucia is a beautiful island with very friendly people and you will feel very safe on the streets there. We are already saving for our return…

We recently returned from a 14 day trip to Almond Morgan Bay where we went with family and friends to be married. We must admit to being a bit apprehensive about going there after reading some negative reviews but we had already booked and paid so could not get out of it. We had nothing to worry about however, as it was by far the best holiday we have ever had. We found the hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly, the rooms clean and comfortable with the option of having clean towels and bedding on a daily basis if we required it. If you are just looking for quiet relaxation, or planning to marry there, then this is the place for you.
Our room was in the new blocks which were completed in 2007, which are very large and tower over the property. It had a large balcony overlooking the resort with a fantastic view of the ocean. These rooms are a bit more expensive, and have a separate bedroom, large LCD TVs and are quite comfortable. It's apparently quite a hike up the hill to these rooms though.
The wedding coordinator did a great job organizing the wedding and all we were expected to do was to show up. The lawyer came to us at the resort where we signed the legal documents. We were then expected to go across the room to the Hotel Photographer to arrange for our Wedding Photography. Fortunately for us, we happened to see some photographs in an album taken by the hotel photographer, which we thought were awful. We decided to go on line to see if we could find someone good and found a Photographer named Bill Mortley (info@billmortleyphotography.com) and promptly hired him after seeing and loving his work. We found his prices and service a lot better than what the hotel was offering. He arrived at the hotel about 2 hours before the wedding and took some great photographs of us even before we got dressed. I first saw him when he showed up at the hairdressing salon and began taking photos there. Bill is a very detail oriented and energetic photographer and nothing seems to escape him. We hardly saw him during the proceedings but from the photos we got he was very much there. All in all, hiring Bill was probably the best thing we did, as we left St. Lucia with some great memories of our wedding, captured in high res-images on DVD. I would like to offer a word of advice to all planning to wed at Almond Morgan Bay…DO NOT USE THE HOTEL PHOTOGRAPHER!! You may be lucky, but why take the chance? We enjoyed several excursions while in St. Lucia. One of our favorite was the Joy Cruise! It was a great deal and a wonderful experience! The Cruise involved a motor boat ride south along the coast line to a place on the beach were we enjoyed a home cooked meal. Next, a taxi took us to the waterfall and the volcano. Lastly, we went snorkeling between the Pitons. The staff was wonderful…they even found out that we got married the day before the cruise and made us a homemade cake with the home cooked meal. It was a great excursion and we highly recommend it!
St. Lucia is a beautiful island with some very friendly people. We felt comfortable and safe everywhere we went. One word of advice…if you can afford it, take the helicopter service to the hotel as opposed to taking the taxi/bus service provided by the hotel or tour operator.
We got the best views of this beautiful, exotic country from the air! The pilot was wonderful, giving us bits of information about the island as we travelled the 15 minute journey. We don’t normally visit a country twice as there are so many we have yet to visit, but we must make an effort to return sometime in the future.

Stayed at Almond Morgan in Sept for 8 nights, had an absolutely fantastic time.

Most of all what made my holiday was the brilliant watersports on offer and all the staff that work in watersports. They are the most friendly hotel staff I have ever come across and always very willing to help and give you lessons. A big thankyou to Gary who taught me how to sail in very minmal wind, it was a very entertaining trip, and to Stuwart who often was driving the boat whilst waterskiing and giving me pointers. I even tried wakeboarding and they were very patient whenever I tumbled and very good speedboat drivers. They seemed to be managed very well by Modast who keeps an eye over everything and makes sure all the boats that go drifting out are towed back in.

The food was great, very varied with a lovely restaurant out on a pier. The drinks are available all day and some great cocktails. All staff and managers I came across were brilliant and always willing to help.

Can't wait to go back!

After reading many reviews, we approached our wedding and honeymoon trip with some degree of apprehension. We shouldn’t have worried.
The resort staff at Almond Morgan Bay, could not have been nicer , nor more attentive to our wishes and needs. Any thing we needed, we got. Anything we asked was answered efficiently and nicely. We wonder if some of the reviews that state the staff was rude, were written by vacationers who treated the staff rudely. This is an island, and things get done on island time. This is a good thing - relax.

The bartenders at the swim up bar are fun, and willing to make anything. The pools were warm, and although we saw staff cleaning frequently, they needed cleaned perhaps more than once a day. Apparently, some people were caught unaware of the adults only swimming pool. A British Mom made quite a scene about how crazy that was. The bartender patiently pointed out that there is another pool 8 feet away. Some people you can’t make happy. The water sport crew is a happy, helpful bunch. No problems and we enjoyed the flexibility of an open schedule.

The food at all 4 the restaurants was good. They will make any change for you. Service was slower than here in the states, but enjoy the views, have a glass of wine and relax. One night when my new husband wasn’t feeling well, the staff at “The Palms” rushed food to our room so quickly that we barely beat it there. The 4 main restaurants all had unique offering, allowing for variety. The Plum Tree Grille, located away from the other 4, offers snacks and ice cream. If you don’t see it there, ask.

The room was clean and very comfortable. The view of the ocean was priceless. Unfortunately, the electricity on the resort did cut off about 5 times. That was a bit frustrating. The resort was well maintained. However, you could tell that the tropical atmosphere, made maintenance difficult. Staff were constantly painting and trimming. For a 2 year old resort, it showed more wear and tear than you would expect.

The wedding was beautiful. Jessica did a good job. The gentleman that performed the ceremony was charming. Our only complaint was the complete lack of communication from her and the resort before we arrived. E-mails went unanswered. No confirmation of receipt of documents was ever given. That added to our apprehension.

Karay Media did an excellent job of our wedding photos. He made the photo shoot a pleasant experience. If you have not decided on a photographer, we give Ray 2 thumbs up.

The excursions we went on were recommended by others and were well worth the money. The tropical rain forest Zipline trip was great and fun. Joy’s cruise which departs from the resort beach gave a great tour of the the whole island. The crew on the boats were fun and knowledgeable. You could stay on the resort and never leave, however, you’ve traveled so far, you might as well see the whole island, not just the swim up pool bar.

The best advice we could give is: Keep hydrated by drinking LOTS of water. Pack mosquito repellent for the evenings. Use lots of sunscreen. No need to pack a sweater.

Our wedding and honeymoon were perfect. We have beautiful memories which will last a lifetime. We have only been back for a month and already wish we could leave tomorrow to return to St. Lucia.

my wife & I stayed at this resort for our 1st anniversary. upon arrival we were greeted with a lovely mint scented cold towel & lovely fruit punch. check in was smooth & quick.

The food at the resort was great with four restaurants to choose from. all meals really were gourmet food & very good quality for all inclusive. there was also bbq's for lunch at the beach- so food for every taste.

The only problem we has was resolved switfly. basically the 1st room we were put in was inter-connecting- so we could here the other guests in the next door room. Mr Khan (assistance manager) said that he would arrange for another room & that he did. we were moved to another room with better ocean view.

The watersports were great & also we reccomend you do Joy's tour. it really is a good tour with lovely bbq food. Also try to do the canopy adventure ( zip-lining) - it maked great fun day out.

overall this hotel is great for families , singles - service & staff go out of thier way to help you. it really is vaue for money.
