My boyfriend and I have travelled a lot. Our last trip to this resort however, is the top of the pile. The rooms are clean, staff is friendly and food is good. We really enjoyed that menus are constantly changing, water sports are free or a very good deal and the location of this small, wonderful resort. You are only 15 minutes away from anything you could possibly want to do and there are many excursion activities at your disposal. We will certainly be going back!

Me and my fiance (we got engaged while at the resort), just returned from a lovely stay at Morgan Bay. We were there for a week and truly enjoyed ourselves. Here are the pros/cons-

Pros: The service is unmatched. Curlann and guest services, Dion (porter), Nadia (the maitre d at several of the restaurants), and Barringon (the general manger at the restaurant LeJardin) were an absolute joy! They accommodated every request to ensure that we had a memorable engagement. I surprised my fiance and could not have done it with out their help! Thanks again, Curlann and Barrington!

The food was mostly excellent. Primarily at Morgan's Pier, Bambou, and Le Jardin. The Palms was just okay, but I do not typically like buffets.

The grounds are beautiful. The views are tremendous and the beach is very private.

Cons:

Though I know that the idea of a vacation is to rest, it would have been nice to have the internet in the rooms. No worries for all of you, it is being put in within the next few weeks.

Cats! They are quite a few stray cats on the property. I am not a cat person, so I could have done without seeing them. I think that they are throughout the island, but I kept seeing the same 3-4 cats on the property.

The 6 restaurants on the property all close by 10 p.m. We enjoyed the annual Jazz Festival and it is the biggest event of the year. It doesn't end until 2 a.m. and once back on the property, we were pretty hungry. It would be nice to at least a snack bar to stay open until midnight, at least.

I highly suggest staying here is you desire a peaceful reprieve from the usual stresses of life. They are there at your every whim to assure a great time.

Room Tip: The best views are from the 1200 block! You have a longer walk, but they offer golf cart rides to an...

Excellent place for a relaxing holiday. Worth upgrading to ocean view we were in 1046 it was amazing. Staff were always polite and friendly. The food at morgans pier was the best but even the buffet was great plenty if choice.Hope to return in the near future would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: pay for ocean view worth every penny.

We returned today after a great week at St James. It is a little tired in places and the rooms are in need of a lick of paint and a tidy up but they are clean, spacious and perfectly adequate. We had a beach front in block 600 and loved it, the sound of the waves at bedtime was perfect. The food was good, we found the main buffet restaurant "The Palm" a bit canteenish but everything was always well presented and tasted good. We particularly liked Morgans Pier and Treetops was nice for a lighter pizza or pasta. Joy's Cruise was the highlight of the holiday and we would definitely recommend it to anyone going it was a fantastic way to see the island "James Bond" style in a speed boat down the coast with his lovely sons especially Vaugh giving a running commentary as you go - the banter and back chat is all part of it!! They even found us some dolphins which was the perfect end to a fabulous day. Would we go back? Possibly? But fancy trying their sister hotel in Antigua next time and taking our teenage boys who would make far fuller use of all the included water sports than we did.

Room Tip: Beach front blocks 600-500 far enough away from the noise but you can go to sleep to the sound of th...

We've just come back from 10 nights here and we had a great time, the food was in general very good, we tried three of the evening restaurants the Tree Tops (Pizza and Pasta), Bambou and Morgans Pier. The bamboo wasn't great, Tree Tops was a split decision I loved it my wife didn't and the Morgans Pier food was amazing although we were in a very large group (20) so maybe this had an effect. You will also need to go to the Plum Tree nr the Gym/Tennis courts we had lunch here most days because the food was incredible and the staff were fantastic, don't be put off by the fact its the 'kids' pool as no one ever seemed to be there.

The staff were in general superb, they were very friendly, attentive, and knew how to enjoy themselves while getting the job done.

We had a wedding to go to while here and it was very nice up at the hillside gazebo, the bride and groom had a great wedding and the views were good. The star of this was the evening reception though, although the food was ready a bit later than we had been told (the Carribean way) it was lovely, and the staff did an amazing job of making it special especially Nicola who was in charge of champagne (not sure if this was the official job) and Juliana on the bar.

We were in the 400 block and is officially a garden view room but we also had views of the sea so was a great combination, the room was clean and very well maintained. We did move from the ground floor due to a couple of ants but I think this was an isolated incident as no one else in the party had a problem with the ground.

The activities were good from beer pong to pilates and you could do as much or as little as you want but the guys on the watersports desk are a good laugh and even rescue you when your sail boat won't do what you want as my brother found out.

The evening entertainment was nice and varied and the steel drums/limbo night was amazing with the human crab being the highlight.

If you do go here you need to make Joys Cruise a must for $100 pp you will feel like you've ripped him off, we covered the best parts of the island by boat and bus, had some amazing food on the beach for lunch, and even had a quick run out to sea on the way back to see some Dolphins we fortunately got to see loads of them put on a little show for us to complete a perfect day.

My husband and I got married here in November 2013. The wedding team were amazing and took care of everything! I could not have asked for anything more. It was beautiful!!!

I can only say positive things about this hotel. There were 8 of us in total, varying from early 20s to late 50s and everyone was catered for. My brother in law took advantage of the free water sports and enjoyed every minute. The staff were extremely friendly and always made you feel welcome. Unlike another hotel we stayed at in St Lucia which made you feel a little unwelcome at times.

There is plenty to choose from regarding food and restaurants. We visited Le Jardin for our wedding reception and is well worth paying the extra for. The food was delicious!

We stated in an ocean view suite and the views over the bay were incredible.

I would like to thank everyone at St James' for making our wedding and stay so wonderful! We have some amazing memories. We hope to return again soon!

Mr & Mrs Jenkins

This is a solid 4 star, no more no less, its a well-kept resort, non-smoking which is great!, the food is good not great but we had no complaints, we had an issue with a male at the reception when our key got demagnetized and we couldn't get in our room, I'm easy going and I dont sweat the small stuff but he was very rude and had an attitude...but aside from him, the staff is pleasant and helpful,...please try Joy's cruise, like many reviewers here, this will be the best $100 you can spend on an excursion, it was the highlight of our week!, ...The constant tradewinds blowing all day, makes it so wonderful, you don't feel the humidity at all!, we were in block 700 which is beachfront and a pleasant surprise upgrade when we got there which we appreciated very much the room was clean and comfortable, and a great view! The sunsets are incredible...we enjoyed our stay, we booked last minute and got a great deal, not sure I would pay full price..
