We stayed at St. James Club Morgan Bay from April 13-20. Prior to leaving home, I inquired about our room and mentioned that we were celebrating the year of our 25th wedding anniversary. I was very impressed that when we arived in our room, there was a bottle of champagne, with two glasses and a handwritten note from the manager with best wishes for our 25th.The setting is stunning and very clean, including all the bathrooms throughout the resort. I cannot say enough about the staff. Hyacinthe (breakfast/lunch Bambou). what a lovely gracious lady, also Agnes, Marceline and Vanesta were a pleasure to meet. Ginna at the Treetops, friendly and fun; all the staff at the Plumtree, they treat the kitchen area like it was their own home. always cleaning, great service from all the staff there, especially Marilene, she is such a happy person. Emma at the Palms bar and can't forget the grounds staff, they keep the place very neat and work hard, especially Snug. The highlight of our trip was Joy's Cruise, we highly recommend this day trip. If you are told by the airline rep that Joy's does not have insurance, that is not true, they do have. We loved all the food and restaurants and the rooms(fresh linens, etc...). The Treetops had the best pizza I have had in a long time. The beachfront rooms are the best. We are planning a return trip and hope to stay for 2 weeks.

Room Tip: any of the beach front rooms

This was our second visit to St. James Club, Morgan Bay and it was great in every respect. We were six mature women and it more than met everyone's expectations. The staff at this resort, from the maintenance worker, wait staff, bartenders, guest services, and housekeeping are wonderful. They are always friendly, cheerful and most helpful and in every respect. The food was excellent and the drinks delicious. Our suite was beautiful and more than worth the steps up the hill to it. The view was spectacular. The grounds are well kept and people seem to be working on them continuously. Most of our group retired early, but none of us had trouble sleeping due to noise from the entertainment. The daily water aerobics was great fun and the recreation staff very knowledgeable, but also very entertaining. They draw everyone into the activity, which is much appreciated. There are lots of choices in water sports and the staff are very competent and helpful. We witnessed a beautiful wedding and beachside reception and that family seemed very satisfied with what the resort did for them on their special day. While we did not have any children with us, we were told by other guests that the children's program was fantastic.

Room Tip: Suites in 1100 block are beautiful.

Our family trip to St James Club was just brilliant from start to finish.
The transfer from the airport was as people have said quite long and the roads slightly hair raising but the scenery is beautiful.
On arrival we were given rum punch and was upgraded to a family suite which was great as the 14 year old twins had their own double bed each and room, and we had our own room plus 2 bathrooms which was a bonus.
The resort itself is stunning very clean and the grounds well kept. beach and swimming pools are very clean.
Restaurants are excellent and the quality of food and drinks very good. We went to all restaurants and all were brilliant. Top Tip try every cocktail of the day....
Evening entertainment was also very good some excellent bands.
The staff are amazing. Very friendly and can not do enough to help you out.
Water sports fab for our 2 teenagers who had a great time.
Joys tours well worth the money and this trip I would recommend every time.
My daughter and I went to the spa and this was a fabulous treat and again worth the money spent.
Overall this is a fantastic resort and for our family this holiday was worth every penny.
We would highly recommend St James Club Morgan Bay.

Room Tip: We were in block 400 which housed family suites with an ocean view. near enough to verything but far...

Great staff, great resort, great island. Have been to many other islands and an assortment of resorts. St James has made improvements over the last 2 years that have only improved an already excellent resort! We witnessed a wedding and how the resort handled the details. The Activity Team is very professional and full of energy and fun. The restaurants had great service and fresh food I have a restricted diet and was able to eat plenty. Joy's Trip was amazing and would highly suggest you go on it! I only wished ther was more beach to walk on, but we made our way to the public/local beach and walked well past Sandels (a little tricky at times).

Room Tip: 400 are away from pools but you get a great view of the local beach. 500 on the water of the resort...

I want to start by saying I always leave fair reviews and try to include as many positives as possible but very hard to find here taking into account our overall experience. One of the main reasons my husband and I booked this resort was because it was 'child-friendly' and we have a one-year old daughter. We splashed out on an oceanview suite (the most expensive room) to ensure we had plenty of space and relaxation. After a long flight (arriving about 2pm) we were told the room was not ready. When we got there, we found (after reminding them in reception and pre-requesting on booking) there was no travel cot for my daughter. It took them ages to bring on and delayed us settling her down for her night sleep as she was still on UK time and was up very late by that point. The suite was fine but the view was not what we expected and was looking out onto the pool/bar and working out buildings with the ocean in the distance. The entertainment (man blaring on a microphone and very loud music) started from mid afternoon and carried on until 11pm. I have never heard so much noise from anything in our room. It was so loud and impossible to tune out and sleep through. After several complaints the reception sent someone to check the noise level in our room. By the time he arrived it was 10.30pm and he was so rude. He said he couldn't hear anything and refused to acknowledge any issue. This was absolutely incredible!!! I was so upset and burst into floods of tears when he left. The room we were offered instead was in the old building and completely unworkable if you had a young child as it had no elevator and up loads of old, quite unsafe looking wooden stairs.

The general vibe is so 'loud' and I like a bit of music by the pool but it felt like you were in Ibiza and not suitable for a relaxing holiday with a baby.

I complained to our virgin rep who was excellent at helping to move us to another resort. We moved to Windjammer Landing the following and it was like a dream in comparison and so child-friendly with many more families with young toddlers and lovely staff.

Overall, if you have a young toddler I would avoid St James and go to Windjammer. I wish I had read a review like this and I would have saved us a horrible start to our holiday.

We travelled as a group of ten for a family wedding/holiday (my daughter and her now husband), with others joining us as the week went on to participate in the wedding. My daughter and her husband had been to the resort twice before and had decided that this is where they wanted to be married. There was certainly plenty for everyone to do and all with varying ages, from 2 up to 76. The rooms were all very good and serviced regularly. The food overall was excellent and plenty of choice. We all experienced the fine dining restaurant which was well worth the supplementary charge and could not fault the waiting staff at all. In fact, the staff at the resort were almost all without exception, courteous, polite, helpful and very attentive. We had a slight problem with the wedding day, as the restaurant my daughter wanted to use for her wedding meal was not going to be open on her wedding day so, the day and time was changed from Saturday to Thursday but it did not matter at all and, in fact, was a better option, as it allowed us time after the wedding to relax and enjoy ourselves for another couple of days. The wedding itself was just magical and took place on top of the cliff in a gazebo that had been decorated just as we'd asked. Beautiful setting and lovely ceremony. The rest of the day was just as lovely with a meal in the Morgans Pier Restaurant overlooking the sea - perfect! We all went on Joys boat trip on the Saturday and enjoyed it immensely - he even made a cake for my daughter and her new husband. It will certainly go down as one of the best holidays that I have experienced and my daughter and her husband couldn't have made a better choice for their wedding. Well done!

We were the parents of the groom, and our new daughter in law arranged the event from Seattle Washington. Our observation was that the process was fairly painless. We will let them speak to this in a separate review.

But we want to assure everyone that this was a wonderful destination for a family vacation. We had 23 family members and everyone had a great time.

The hotel we understand is under ongoing renovations. But the rooms are clean and well maintained. The accommodations are not five star but very nice, We had a pool and ocean view, the sunsets were postcard perfect.

The beach is great with watersport activities included

Make sure you meet Joy under the almond tree on the beach. He does a wonderful full day boat tour with a beach barbeque. We took the whole family, Joy made the day more special by providing a cake and champagne for the newly weds. Thanks Joy!

The staff is friendly and very accomodating and always happy to make you another Pina Colada!

The food is very good at all of the restaurants, but reservations must be made three days in advance! The main dinning room, The Palms does not require reservations it is buffet style, but the food varies daily and is quite good.

The only complaint I would have is with towels for the bathroom. There seemed to be a problem with getting a clean washcloth every day. We learned that if you left it on the floor, you might not get a replacement! But clean washcloths are my obsessive issue.

Everyone had a great time it was a wonderful place to attend a destination wedding.

Note:
The ride from the airport to the hotel in Gros Islet is 1.5 hours so be prepared and make the bathroom stop before you leave the airport! You will travel the entire length of the island!

Room Tip: First floor ocean and beach view rooms allow you to walk out to the pool and beach from your deck...
