“amazing trip!”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed at the St-James club Morgan Bay from August 17th to 24th. Both my partner and I have travelled to many different countries and both agree that this was by far our favourite trip. Not only because of the resort, but also because of the BEAUTIFUL island.
The resort itself is not a 4 star hotel, but the staff does make up for it. They are always happy and always there to help you, although sometimes the service may be slow.
We stayed in the 500 building which is an ocean front room. It has a spectacular view, which I highly recommend if you want to spend a little extra. The rooms are very clean, and I disagree with one of the comments saying the walls are "paper thin". We never heard our neighbours unless they would slam their doors.
The food is not the greatest at the buffet, but you can always find something to eat. I recommend eating at the Plum Tree which is situated next to the tennis courts and the kids pool. It might get noisy but the food is really good.
The only downside of this resort is that the pools close at 6 and the last call at the bar is at 12:30. And also the entertainment isn't great.
We did an excursion every single day, and I HIGHLY recommend doing Joy's cruise, it is absolutely amazing, as well as the Sunset Cruise for all the couples. The rum tour wasn't that great. Also, if you like to hike or would even just like to go to a beach with clear blue water, take a cab to Pigeon Island, which only costs 20$.

All in all, we had an incredible vacation and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: 500 building, ocean front room

We were impressed with the staff who were very pleasant and informative. We found the room to be very clean and comfortable. The maid was very efficient and did a very good job keeping our room fresh and clean. The breakfasts and lunches were very good with an abundance of food that was very tasty. The suppers were also very good but we were not sure about having to make reservations. The book in the room indicated that the only place that we have to reserve was Le Jardin. We tried to go for supper at the Morgans pier and the Bambou, but were told that we needed reservations. This information was NOT in the information booklet in the room. Also, the information in the book indicates that the pool was open from 6am to 6pm. This was NOT the case. Customers in the pool prior to 9am were told to get out. If this is the case, then CHANGE the book.

There was an incident where the children's pool had to be shut down and everyone was sent to the adult pool with the swim up bar. The staff was NOT pro active in keeping the children from the bar area, Many people were upset with this and it caused a couple of problems.

All in all, we would probably stay with you again, but if the problems that I have outlined a not fixed, we will not be back.

I thought after reading the wonderful reviews of this resort, I couldn't be disappointed...but I was. I have travelled a lot and this was the first time I had better expectations than it was. The food was really not good and the buffet was the smallest i've seen in a resort. The food was always over cooked and their was no choices. The birds were eating the bread and pooping on the dishes. There was only 2 kinds of wine to be had on the entire resort. There was nothing stocked in the fridge in the room. The beach is very small and the water is not clear (I knew that before I left). There were no beach towels available often and the water sports were full within 5 minutes of opening their doors in the am. The drinks were ok, the pools were nice. The only good meal is at the Jardin were you have to pay $27. If you like fried food, this is the place for you. I made the best of it, but was disappointed that Air Canada Vacations rates this property a 4 star. The beds are very hard too. Some people asked to be moved to another resort and were accommodated because I think they knew not to argue with them. We only found out at the airport on our way home or we would have paid the difference to go somewhere else. Saint Lucia is a beautiful island and would go back but definetely not at the St. James Club.

Just a moment of your time! Something to think about as General Manager Life holds its obstacles and we all must figure ways to meet the challenge. Caressing a hand and smiling can go a long way. Getting ice for someone in need , calling the room and asking can i get you something this was not a uplifting event on my 31 wedding anniversary. The report was filled out and you did nothing, and you saw this report. Lets be honest not having to be a caregiver on vacation is not a blessing. But being able to provide care for someone you love its truly a rewarding event. I hope no our quest fells in you lobby and you try to keep the floor dry, it would also help to put a sign up in front of the lobby not at the end of the lobby. My wife and i just wanted to take a moment to enjoy the memody of the birds and the warmth of the sun. There is no glory in your role but the peace of mind you did the best you can and you will probaby lean a lot about yourself. My wife is starting to move freely i am very greatfull and she is planning to go back to teaching in a few weeks. Looking in the mirror is not always easy but the best method to insure the longevity vitality of thew St. James Club is full your fulfillment to your quests

Room Tip: Best part excellent facing ocean lower floor a/c perfect large

The experience was generally good. We had a good sized Ocean view room, separate bedroom (3 of us ) with the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on, and a party sized bath in the bathroom. We were at the top of the hill, and now have larger leg muscles, compensated by a great view ! Good sized beach with plenty of beach chairs, and same round the pool. Sea and pool both warm and pleasant to play and swim in. The staff were all friendly and on the whole helpful. The breakfasts were excellent and the lady on the Egg cooking hotplate was especially good despite being swamped by egg lovers every morning. She kept her cool whilst appearing to melt ! That's the good bit. We holiday as all inclusive holidayers so that 2 fussy children will always find something they like on a buffet table. However, even I, who will eat anything, struggled with the options here. It felt as though there was no one in charge of the kitchen and that most of the pages had been lost from the cook book, the exception being the casseroles (very tasty ) and the Roast beef that looked beautifully cooked but was then hacked to pieces by an untrained member of staff. The dessert choices were incredibly poor, even a good fruit salad would have gone down well. We only ate at the Palms and found that whilst the staff were polite and friendly there did not seem to be enough of them to deal with drink service and table clearance. The entertainment was sadly pretty poor also and lacking in variety considering the customer age range and obvious eagerness for people to enjoy their evening. We fortunately had connect four and a pack of cards A general comment would be that the operational infrastructure of the hotel has not kept pace with the increased number of guests introduced by the increased room capacity on the hill. Having said that we came to have a relaxing holiday in the sun on a beautiful Caribbean Island and that's what we did. Perhaps it's different in the On season ? I would come back as I think we just hit a glitch moment. We all have them in business

Room Tip: The rooms on the hill appear to be larger than the lower down ones but it is a bit of a hike up the...

Hotel was good, the staff were friendly and helpful, Peggy, the Virgin Rep, was very helpful and efficient. The activities were well run and the food was excellent. The people of St Lucia were friendly and the Island beautiful. I would go again and recommend it to others.
