“Not my perfect wedding!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2008

We arrived at this resort early December '07 for two weeks. We got married and it was the first time for both my husband and I. After reading the reviews here I gave the resort the benefit of the doubt and did not have too high expectations.

We arrived by helicopter, I would recommend this. After being greeted with a tasty rum punch we were escorted by buggy to our room which to our horror was already occupied! We were quickly given a new room and soon forgot the incident.

Our wedding was the biggest drama though, I will try to be brief

1) Free Nail Manicure - NO!! Free colour for nails yes but you have to pay for a French Manicure! I didnt think a white dress with red nail varnish would go so had to pay extra.
2) Our choice of venue for the wedding meal was not available and so we joined another wedding party in the same restaurant that night. I did congratulate the other bride and felt really special that day!!! NOT.
3) Our private meal was not given, we ordered lobster to try to make the private meal more special and paid for champagne.
4) If you book a premium room do not expect a room upgrade because there isnt anything better and nothing is given for free to compensate.
5) My husband ordered champagne for the bridal party which arrived and we assumed it was complimentary. I was not told that my husband to be sent it to me and only found out later.
6) I got married at 2pm and the our meal was at 6pm. After photos all we could do was hang around at the bars with other guests until it was time to eat. There was no private room allocated for our party of 14 which would have been a bit special.

I have to say the wedding ceremony was lovely although photos were a little rushed. We did complain about the above and they apoligised giving us a refund for the lobster, we paid for the wine, we were given another private meal for 2. I was given a free massage but that was about it. This was certainly a wedding to remember, fortunately we had nice weather as other couples were not so lucky and rearranged their dates.

Other than that food was lovely and well presented, I can not fault that and was not bored at all but then I like to try most things.

Service was pretty quick and the people friendly.

Joys Cruise is a must.

Our honey moon was in Antigua, Galley Bay. Anyone looking for pardise, I highly recommend going and we will be returning but unfortunately not to Almond Morgan especially with the new blocks being built and the increase in people.

Myself & my partner have just stayed at the Almond Morgan Bay Resort over Xmas/New Year and found the entire holiday wonderful. After a disappointing reception on our arrival on the island on the afternoon of christmas day, where it took us 2hrs to pass through customs, we were collected by a private car and enjoyed a very comfortable ride to the resort. We arrived at the resort and were greeted with a welcoming rum fruit punch and quickly checked in. We received an ocean view room which we had requested and enjoyed a very satisfying christmas dinner in the La Jardin french restaurant. I had fortunately booked our reservation before arriving on the island as I read that it was important to book. The next week stretched out to be one of the most enjoyable weeks we've spent anywhere. We found the food incredibly tasty, well presented and of the highest quality. Staff in all restaurants were very helpful and offered execellent service and the staff at the sports centre were also very pleasant. Although we were there at one of the busiest times of the year for the resort, we did not at anytime fill that it was crowded. However, we would be reluctant to return as they have just completed the building of four more blocks of units and we cannot see how the restaurant and beach facilities will accommodate such an expansive number of guests comfortably. We are very grateful to have had our holiday before these extra blocks are occupied and would like to thank everyone for giving us such a wonderful holiday

as other have already mentioned , read all the reveiws and had mix feelings about going to this hotel .
I am so glad i went with my heart and went.
WHAT A FABULOUS HOTEL
The food was excellent in ALL four restaurants the staff were fantastic and very friendly -nothing was too much trouble. If you did not like a meal in the al-carte restaurants the staff would change it with no fuss or questions, if you found the portion too small you could ask for double no fuss. The weekly BBQ on the beach with entertainment was a fantastic way to meet new friends.
The watersports team were very helpful and patient when trying to teach the children how to water ski.
ALL the bar staff were great fun and had a never ending array of cocktails to try.
The rooms were very comfortable and the extra bed for my daughter was a full size bed and not a camp bed which was a bonus. The rooms were cleaned to a very high standard everyday and the air con work fantastically (which sometimes is rare abroad)
The whole package was out of this world.
We can not wait to return.

I am surprised at some of the advers comments about AMB, we stayed for 2 weeks in November with a 4 year old and it was amongst the best holidays we have ever had. The accommodation was fine and, as the hotel was only 2 thirds full, there was always space by the pools and beaches. The food was excellent, Bambou and Morgans particularly, and mostly the service was very good. The water sports was good, they did not even make much fuss when I capsized 2 miles off shore and wrote off a sail!
The transfer from the airport is not great but, travelling by Virgin, everything was checked in in the morning at the hotel so the return was hassle free. I would imagine that the place would be very crowded when the new rooms are on line. The kids club was very good, the evening entertainment was generally a bit loud but the dancers were fantastic

Want to say how fantastic our wedding was and how organised and professional Marilyn the wedding co-ordinator was. She did everthing possible to make our day very special. We hired Bill Mortley (he has a website) to do our wedding pictures and DVD, after reading other trip advisor reviews who recommended him, as the hotel photographer was not that good. Well what can I say, Bill was amazing and he really enjoyed his work and produced some fantastic pictures. He even left us his laptop for a few hours so we could have a good look at the pictures and DVD and show our families who were there. Nothing was ever to much trouble for him and we left on the 19th of December and he is still in touch sending us modified pictures. Please book him as he will produce wonderful pictures and a DVD for you to treasure! and I still cry everytime I watch the slideshow and the DVD, because he has put some lovely songs on them. We even used one of the songs for our first dance at our celebration party back home.

Another thing I would very much recommend is an excursion called 'Joys Cruise' (you can find them on the Hotel beach) It was a fantastic day. We went to the volcano, waterfall and snorkled at Jalouise Plantation, which is between the two Pitons. On the way back we stopped at a deserted beach and Joys Sister and Mother had cooked a BBQ and some wonderful local cusine. There was another wedding party on the day and they had made a wedding cake for us each to have and gave both parties each a bottle of champagne!

The hotel is superb! The staff are so friendly and really no how to look after you. We thought the food was fantastic in all restaurants and the beach BBQ was great too.
The kids club Is fantastic, the kids loved it and the staff were really nice. Our two girls (5 and 3) were very keen to go there every day and they made some great things to bring home as memories.

The best thing we ever did getting married there!!

We just returned from a stay at the Almond Morgan Bay Beach Resort in St. Lucia and unfortunately this place did not even come close to what we were expecting.
St. Lucia is a beautiful island but unfortunately the infrastructure for tourism seems somewhat lacking. We had to wait over 2 hours in line at the airport to go through immigration (same thing on leaving - so bad that we almost missed our flight).
By the time we arrived at the resort is was almost 8:00 pm and we had missed the dinner reservations the hotel had made for us at one of the restaurants. It was almost 9:30 pm before we got this sorted out and tired and starving we finally were seated for a dinner that could only be described as almost inedible.
This was our main issue with this resort - the food was most times unappealing and poorly prepared.
This resort is small - something that we liked - but we did notice that a large new section is almost completed and with the additional guests, there will be problems accommodating everyone in the restaurants as well as on the beach, etc...
The high point of our trip was a day trip that we took through Joy Cruises - a local company. Their trip coordinator, Cornelius, was excellent and arranged for us to have our own boat since we were a group of 9 people. The trip was excellent and our tour leader/boat captain, Phil, was fantastic. The trip included a boat tour down the coast to Soufrieres, a trip to the botanical gardens and waterfall and also to the volcano - all very interesting. Then it was back on the boat for a short ride up the coast to a secluded spot on the beach where we were treated to a real St. Lucian meal - the best food we had on the whole trip!!! (Perhaps the hotel should take some lessons from the women who prepared this meal.) Then back on the boat for a short ride to another beach for snorkeling and swimming. All in all - it was the best day of our vacation!
The food issue aside, we did enjoy the beach and pool areas. The rooms were adequate and we did have the ocean view that we were promised by our travel agent. The staff was generally friendly. We also enjoyed the afternoon tea they serve daily.
