We went to the street party after reading reviews about how much fun it was. Well this past Friday there was hardly anyone there and only a few food choices which were not that good. We had chicken and bread for dinner. There was no dancing and no live music. Not sure if it was this particular week but I would not go again.

The street party is one of the best experiences in St Lucia, it comes highly recommended. Having visited Gros Islet on the Thursday prior to the friday night street party, the village is very quiet with just locals. The village at any other night could be concidered intimidating, not on the friday for the street party. Packed with local's and tourists alike evryone is drinking and partying, BBQ's are every where , the music is blasting and every one is having a good time. There is a small local police presence but there was no trouble of any discription. On average a beer is EC5 about £1.20 and food is anything from EC10 to EC20-£2.50 to £5 good value and a definate must do whilst in St Lucia. I caught the local bus from Rodney bay for EC1.50 easc one way about 30p. This one has got to be done!!

Loved the ladies cooking chicken on the road side, the music was blaring, people dancing and enjoying themselves, feel good vibe and a feast for the eyes.

Unles your a pot head or a junkie this "jump up " is bad news , if you must go , go early and leave early it can get ugly , and yachties behaving badly is never a good mix with locals and drugs booze , it will end in tears for sure , ruins a great little town too .
