Me and my husband have just returned from a weeks stay at the Blu, when we arrived we had a problem at the airport, we expected someone to pick us up and take us to the hotel, but there was no one there, so we took a taxi and then when we arrived the hotel paid the taxi for us after we explained the situation, we asked what had happened and the lady was very brief with her story?!
After that though the holiday went from strength to strength, we received a lovely glass of punch and a cold flannel when we checked in and someone showed us to our room, which was an upgrade to a suite, we were slightly disappointed with 2 things, there was no balcony and the bathroom was not very pretty, the staff did mention that they are getting refurbished soon so when that is done the rooms will be amazing, the bed was the comfiest bed I have ever slept in!
The pool area was nice and the sun beds were very comfortable and we were given towels for those each day.
The walk to the beach was only 5 mins away and it was a beautiful beach.
The local town and shops were about 10/15 min walk away with a variety of souvenirs shops and supermarkets, take your passport with you though as we didn't know this and you get duty free prices in all shops!
We stayed all inclusive the drinks were flowing, the cocktails were lovely and the food was really nice all cooked to order, but I think we could of had a change of menu more frequently as things got a bit boring by the end of the week!
The main thing that made our stay the best though was the SERVICE, you couldn't fault it, they made you feel very important and like they were your friends, we especially wanted to mention Neil and President you two really stood out for us and we would like to thank you both so much!
We had massages and would recommend them to anyone, the spa was really nice and Neil did a great job!
One thing I would say to the hotel though to make it even more amazing is to have some sort of entertainment programme for guests in the evening, we did have a letter through the door saying there was a creole night with live music, but we didn't have any music that night?!
Overall it was a lovely honeymoon, and would recommend it to anyone!
Thanks Blu.

We stayed for a week at Blu during a 5 week island hop and had an ok stay. We had several issues that we enlightened the management to but as we made them aware with good intentions, there was no animosity necessary, quite the opposite. The management are most helpful and appreciate constructive criticism to enable them to improve the hotel. We thank Soraya and Erin for their help during our stay as through no fault of their own, things just seemed to not go to plan for us, but that is just our luck anyway! I am sure that as a team you will both address any issues that you have inherited from taking over the hotel and that staff step up a notch to help the hotel move forward. There were obvious differences when Soraya addressed the staff about issues, but they could easily revert back to their laid back Caribbean and somewhat oblivious nature. It is nice to have a relaxed, care free view but when serving guests that have paid good money, a little more alertness as to what is going on around you would most definitely improve standards. If staff take on board the highlighted problems then there is no reason as to why the hotel will not get more popular. That said, they were rather booked up whilst we were there. So negatives aside we thank Soraya who is almost always available on site, day and night, and wish all the best of luck to Erin on the due birth of your baby!
Overall if you require nothing more than a 3 star rated place to stay, ideally situated for quick accessibility for Rodney Bay, then Blu will probably work for you. The furniture within the rooms and foyer are most certainly that of a much higher grading but as they are aware, the bathrooms would benefit from an overhaul. Bearing in mind that Harlequin only took over the premises just over a year ago, hopefully updating will come with time. That said, everything is clean.
I would probably advise guests to stay on a self catering/B& B basis as we stayed on the all inclusive basis due to a cheap deal. It is quite monotonous eating at the same place and off the same menu each evening and with there being so many eateries nearby it is beneficial to get out and about.

Can't believe that anyone would not enjoy this place - ignore the miseries ! This is a gem of St Lucia , fantastic location, peace, tranquility and staff that can't do enough. This was a special holiday for us and it exceeded all our expectations. From the Manager to the bar staff to the gardner the focus was on service and always with a smile. Perhaps some updating in bathroom needed but spotless bright and welcoming room and Pressie and Reme are the cocktail wizards to set off your evening - food was superb seved with a smile by Sam and Kathy amongst others, selection of good wines also available. Personally we can't wait to go back to paradise.

Room Tip: Go for a suite with pool balcony

As someone else wrote, we were expecting better having read these reviews. Right off the bat, the taxi that Blu said they had arranged for us was not at the airport when we arrived. After waiting around a bit, we took a different taxi. Upon arrival, we received a very vague answer to what had happened, and it sounded like the driver had just taken someone else.

Our first full day, the AC started hemorrhaging water. Not a big deal, unless you have outlets directly below it, getting dripped on. We could smell the phone charger electronics frying, that's actually how we noticed the leak in the first place (we were out on our balcony). When we went down to the front desk to tell them about this, a fairly serious problem that had broken a phone charger and seemingly almost caused a fire, the response was very nonchalant, asking if that meant we'd like to have our AC looked at. We said yes, and also asked if they had any other phone chargers that had been left behind, since ours was now broken. We were offered a staff member's charger to borrow, but obviously that wasn't a permanent replacement, so we were told to wait until the manager was in the next day. We spent some time by the bar/pool area, and when we got back to the room, our AC was running without dripping, so we assumed it had been fixed completely. We were there for our honeymoon, and enjoying time in the room, when someone (we assume a handyman) let himself into our room without knocking first. Fortunately we had our slide lock locked, otherwise I would have been really upset about being walked in on. Later that night, the AC started leaking again. Ultimately, the manager did reimburse us for the broken charger, but it didn't seem like anyone felt bad about the situation (not sure that we ever received an apology).

As mentioned, the bathrooms are cramped and sad. Not a big deal, but the bathroom products are supplied in a dispenser mounted on the shower wall, and the body wash was completely empty, and not refilled by housekeeping while we were there. I assume this means they have run out? It felt more like a gym shower.

Finally, for our ride back to the airport, we decided to share a taxi with 2 other couples who were on the same flight as us. On their trip up, they had paid their roundtrip taxi fare, which worked out to $75 USD each way. We were told there would be an extra cost for the extra people, and as we were leaving, the manager told us it would be $45 USD per couple. On the ride down, we worked out that the couple who had prepaid wasn't getting any kind of refund, they had already paid their $75, and we were each paying $45 (not fair!). I feel like the hotel manager (who arranged the ride and the hotel receives a taxi commission) could have communicated what was happening better, like saying the total cost would be X, and we should work it out between us if we were going to give some money to each other, versus making it sound like each couple should be paying $45. Unfortunately, the six of us left the hotel and the island with this experience lingering.

However, there are some positives to be had. We thought the food was great (though there were buffet dinners 2 nights of the 4 we were there, it isn't always cooked to order). The drinks were strong, and the staff was nice. Still, if we were to go back to St Lucia, I think we'd be staying somewhere else.

Room Tip: Third floor gets you a private balcony.

Overall the hotel was great. Our trip lasted 15 days. The welcome was amazing. We were greeted with cold towels and rum punch. We stayed in a family suite. The room was well put together and clean. The family suite consisted of two conjoined rooms. Each room had a HD flat screen TV, and comfortable furniture. The bathroom was also clean on arrival and through out our stay. The hotel also offered a big pool area surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs. If you work out often there is also a gym that has an elliptical, treadmill and a full rack of dumbbells. The meals were great and the staff was amazing. The house keeping staff was especially helpful and made you feel at home. The front desk helped us with our every needs including helping us set up activities on the island. The bar staff and our servers were very friendly and welcoming. Some staff members that were very helpful during our stay included Avril, Marlon, Remy, Samantha, Cathy, Shawn and many more. The best part of the hotel was the close proximity to the beach. It was only a five minute walk. When choosing a hotel in St. Lucia choose Blu! The family suite was a great choice for the value. Hope to return soon. – Date Family

This hotel was ok but we were expecting better having read the reviews. The breakfast was awful, not a great selection and really greasy. The rooms were a good size, and were clean and comfortable. We initially had a 'suite' but it had no balcony so we swapped for a standard room, despite having paid the higher rate. However it was so much nicer to have the outdoor space! The bathrooms do need updating as everyone has mentioned but I believe they are currently doing this? Overall it was a good value hotel in a central location but I wouldn't stay here again.

Room Tip: Do not go for a junior suite as they do not have any outside space!

I stayed for 8 days in Aug 2013. Had a room on the second floor. Very comfortable bed with an espresso maker and satellite tv. The room was nicely renovated and very clean. Staff is very helpful and friendly and the food is good. Overall the place is very much worth the money. It isnt 5 star, and it isnt right on the beach, but it has been nicely renovated and the beach is a very short walk away. The 5 star across the road is on the beach but much more expensive. The otheer guests seemed to be enjoying themsleves and I didnt hear anyone complaining. IT is also a short walk to many bars and restaurants, some of which are very good. I read a few reviews complaining bitterly about the noise from some club across the bay. It isnt really that bad and its not every night, only fri/sat. I had no trouble sleeping. To be honest I really cant find anything significant to complain about. Ok sure I had a bit of a puddle on my floor after a night of torrential rain, and the housekeeper didnt replenish my beach towels so I had to ask for one at the front desk but no big deal nothing is perfect. All in all I had a very relaxing stay and would recommend it to my friends.

Room Tip: If you want a balcony go to third floor. Second floor balcony is enclosed, but it makes the room big...
