We dined at Chef Xavier's twice during our recent holiday in St. Lucia. The menu was expansive, the food properly prepared and served and the wine list was replete with good selections in all price ranges. Keep up the good work.

We ate dinner here our last night in St. Lucia. We had to sit outside since we had no reservations(the restaurant was practically empty inside!). It was very windy so we felt like second class citizens. The complimentary amuse bouche was disgusting. The escargot was so salty...I dont know how you can ruin this dish. The stuffed crab back had no crab...all dried breadcrumbs? The lamb chops and mahi mahi were good and saved the meal. It was the most expensive meal of our vacation.

We stopped in for lunch this afternoon with our Daughter and her family. We chose to sit outside on the veranda overlooking the busy roads of Rodney bay.We were dining with our 9 month old granddaughter. She was accomodated with a high chair. The meals that we had were all delicious..Our son in law said his Tuna was the best he had ever had. The pomme frits were excellent. The staff was very attentive and gave us excellent service

We ate at the Coal Pot and here and both were excellent (both are owned by Chef Xavier) but for my money, this was the better of the two. Don't be put off that it's upstairs in the RB mall because inside is very pleasant and you rapidly forget that you entered through the mall. The service was exceptional and everything from the freshly baked French bread to the dessert was first class. This is not Michelin dining but if you want exceptionally fresh and delicious seafood with a very nice and reasonably priced bottle of wine, then you won't go wrong here. We don't eat meat so I can't comment on that aspect of the menu but there were plenty of carnivorous options too.

It's tricky writing a fair review from one meal when others have enjoyed the experience - but here goes. My wife enjoyed her starter salad with mushrooms and cashew nuts, and also her nicely cooked tuna. I, however, didn't enjoy the under-seasoned crab back starter. The crab meat was bound in an unpleasant sticky sauce which hardly tasted of crab. My bouillabaisse again was woefully under-seasoned and the accompaniments were sadly uninteresting. The garlic was tasteless, the chef seemed to have forgotten to put cayenne or garlic into the rouille and the potion of gruyere was meagre.

There were other irritations like not being given the table we'd reserved the day before, and the wine we ordered being unavailable. But my main concern was that I'd hoped for a "fine dining" experience from a top restaurant and didn't get it.
