Have been back just over a week and wish we were still there!

As mentioned numerous times before ALL the staff are lovely, really friendly and helpful, even the ones in the background (gardeners, security, maintenance). Had a really informative tour of the beautiful gardens by the head gardener who knew absolutely everything about all the plants.

We had stayed 5 years earlier for our 35th Wedding Anniversary and chose to return for our 40th. We had Room 21 on the first occasion and requested this one again if available (which it was) as it gave you a chance to walk off the delicious meals that were always on offer! We were particularly pleased to have some of our favourite wines offered as well. Neither of us was hungry the whole time we were there as there was a vast cholce for breakfast and Paula would happily do your eggs however you wanted them. Lunchtimes there was also a good selection to choose from and the ice cream selection was always delicious. There was also a 'Cocktail of the day' which was nice and new from our previous visit.

It was also nice to see that Thomas (resident cat) was also still there although getting old now and Eric the parrot (sadly Mac his companion was not) who would usually say hello in exchange for a tickle of his feathers.

We met some very nice other couples either first timers or returnees who we enjoyed some interesting conversations with and sometimes shared a dinner table. The two painists were excellent, the one who also sang was exceptional for our little group and all the other entertainers were very good especially the Saturday barbecue steel band.

There are also 2 Hobie Cats that are available on a first come first served basis either DIY if you are experienced or with either of the friendly beach lads who will gladly do the sailing for you if you are inexperienced for a real treat round the bay.

Hopefully it will not be so long before we return again as this is a gem of a place if you like a quiet relaxed holiday, as another guest said 'You pay for what you don't get!' so if you want loud organised activities and disco music this is not the place for you.

Room Tip: Don't think there are any 'bad rooms' just depends what your particular preference is ie...

Returned from East Winds yesterday after 10 superb days. Was it the sunshine, the beautiful bay, the sunset, the excellent food and service, the smiles from the beautiful lady that poached our eggs to perfection in the morning, the fact that the proprietor took time to chat to us, the dazzling white sheets and towels every day, the cheery voice from reception when we needed to phone.
The Champagne Reception Evening with delicious nibbles, the lovely gardens. Elusive taunting Hummingbirds sipping nectar from the flowers as we sat outside our delightful suite ( room 30 )they would fly away every time we poised the camera, I could go on forever. The shower in the bathroom is the best I have known.
This destination is a real chill out retreat. All in really is all in, the fridge stacked with drinks, Air Conditioning that really works, The only downside is trips are expensive, although we went to the Rain Forest and that was very worthwhile. We booked a taxi through Reception to take us to Rodney Bay, the taxi driver was the only grumpy person we met, maybe he was having a bad day. Still at least he turned up on time. East Winds proved that you really can have it all. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Thank you very much for your excellent review. A nice mention of our breakfast cook Paula who joined the hotel in 1995. And ever since "Paula's Corner" eggs how you like them, has been a big hit with the guests!

This hotel is very well run with an excellent food and beverage offering. The beach is pleasant and well suited to a smaller hotel. Above all the staff are without exception very professional, friendly and helpful.

When we were there guests were about 90% British and I would say the great majority were over 60. There are a very large number of repeat clients. This market is well served.

An earlier review said there were no bad rooms and in the most literal sense in terms of fixtures and features I have no doubt this is true. But the situation of the De Luxe rooms does vary quite widely. Some rooms have splendid views of the grounds, others are tucked away on the side of the resort alongside an unattractive wire fence which no real attempt has been made to cover. The situation is perhaps exacerbated by the large number of repeat clients who book their rooms more or less by number leaving new clients at a disavantage. There were a number of guests who had asked to change rooms while we were there. We made this request but were told it was not possible as the hotel was full.

Other things potential guests might want to consider are: the swimming in the sea is outstanding if you are a reasoanble swimmer but if you are nervous of the water it shelves quite steeply and that your holday will essentially be confined to the hotel other than excursions because there is nowhere obvious to walk to other than an adjaent hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a good view i you have a de luxe room.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your recent vacation at our lovely property.

A brief mention regarding your accommodation, at the time of orientation on arrival you did mention a move to an alternative Deluxe Garden Cottage would be preferable, this was readily agreed by our front office Manager, however as it turned out you decided not to move after all.

Many returning guests will specifically request a quiet room in a "tucked away" location, the particular room occupied by yourself is very popular indeed for this very reason, however like most things in life when such requests are made, they cannot be guaranteed and that goes for all room categories and locations.

Swimming in the ocean at East winds beach I would agree is fabulous, we have created the largest free swim area to the exclusion of motorized craft anywhere on St.Lucia. A tip for those who love swimming in the ocean, to avoid the natural shifting shelf, just walk to the far end of our 200 metre beach, to the shallows, here it is whole lot easier to negotiate.

Thank you again for the constructive comments, they are always noted, we look forward to welcoming you back to The Inn at some stage in the future.

Kind regards,

Gareth Leach

What can one say new about perfection? We arrived at East Winds on Valentines day, my wife was presented with a red rose and we were treated like royalty. The luxurious guest cabins/cottages are dotted amongst beautiful landscaped grounds set on a beautiful bay. We felt private and totally relaxed in such secluded surroundings. The head gardener and his team takes enormous pride in maintaining a true botanical garden. Many species of plant are labelled and there is a botanical guide in the literature in each room! The food in the beachside restaurant is definitely 5 star for every meal and the cocktails were to die for - with a new special on offer each day. It was almost impossible not to eat and drink too much! The staff were extremely friendly and we enjoyed meeting some wonderful fellow guests with whom we shared stimulating dinnertime conversations. Many guests were returning after many previous visits. I would recommend East Winds without hesitation - as a good friend did to us! We arrived on Valentines day and fell in love with it!

Many thanks for your positive review . Incidentally the roses are imported from Ecuador, Valentines day would not be the same without a red rose for the ladies !

My partner and I spent two glorious weeks at East Winds in January this year and wondered if all the hype in the reviews would match up to reality. We needn't have worried. Everything was as promised and as soon as we arrived we quickly became aware that we were somewhere special. The staff were exceptional in that nothing was too much trouble and the smiles on their faces were among the broadest you're ever likely to see. The relationship between management and staff was clearly at the heart of the hotels success, and one that had stood the test of time over many years. The accommodation was clean, functional and set amidst wonderfully laid out gardens.
The food was 'to die for' and whilst on leaving home we resolved to not eat at lunch times, we quickly succumbed to all that was on offer..........it really was too good to ignore. I've never booked an 'all inclusive' holiday before for fear of being subjected to 'local beers and wines'. Not so at East Winds, for everything was top quality, including the champagne, and no expense had been spared in making guests feel they were getting value for money. Little wonder that so many guests were on repeat visits!
It was always our policy never to return to a hotel for fear of being disappointed but I'm sure that, in the case of East Winds, we shall make an exception.

Just returned from our third trip to East Winds - which makes us almost newcomers there - we met people on their 16th visit and others on their 12th! It is so easy to see why people keep returning here, it is really everything you want for a totally relaxing break. We went with good intentions of 'escaping' and doing a trip but it was far too nice to leave. Maybe if a straight boat trip had been on offer we would have taken it but the excursions all seemed to be land based as well and we have seen those sights - if many years ago.

We arrived mid afternoon after a good flight travelling at the comfortable end of the plane with Virgin, an efficient transfer within minutes of clearing customs and were greeted with welcome back and a delicious (if very strong!) rum punch. Our room was close to reception so a quick change and we were in the sea within probably 20 minutes of arriving! We always go for a deluxe room which are higher up the hill - so good for walking off the dinners - and are larger with a tv and air con though I believe that most of the superior rooms also have air con now. Two large vases of fresh flowers and also fruit were waiting for us.

Ten days of far too much food and drink followed - all delicious. Saturday lunch is always memorable - if slightly bizarre! Paella, fish soup and raclette?! All accompanied by the fantastic steel band - whose younger members are growing up fast which must age us! Many thanks to the chef on raclette our last day - it wasn't ready at the beginning of lunch so he sent a huge plate over to me with a waitress when it was done. Dinners are always creative - four courses sounds a lot but none are too huge and if you want something lighter the garden salad at course 2 is just that - freshly picked and always tasty. And if you want two of one starter and miss a middle - no problem - or even as we had our first night three starters and a pudding. Nothing is too much trouble at East Winds. Other memorable meals - the veal chop and the nutmeg and pumpkin ice cream. And the barbequed Canadian bacon (think we call it smoked pork loin) marinated in orange, oregano and thyme - that will be on my bbq this year. Ice creams are on offer at lunch and dinner (should one of the puddings not take your fancy) and are all yummy - banana, orange and chocolate my picks! And do not miss the croissants at breakfast - time it right and they are baking hot out of the oven - perfect accompaniment to Paula's eggs! A choice of 5 or so wines is offered at every meal - rose is definitely the popular pick at lunch time - your glass is never left empty for long so prepare for a doze in the afternoon!

East Winds is an extremely sociable place - lots of chat in the bar before lunch and supper - not to mention sunset drinks in the sought after gazebo! With only 30 rooms you will chat to most people at one time or other. Mostly Brits when we were there - we were very much at the younger end of the scale despite being 53 and 60 - but everyone is extremely charming and friendly. We made some good pals who we joined up with for a few meals - even once after we had been seated for dinner and then decided to eat as a 4 the brilliant Elie sorted it with no fuss. Which brings me to the staff - they are truly fantastic. I cannot possibly mention them all but Miriam was brilliant - the only member of staff who always called us by our name - and remembered we had tea with lemon for breakfast, Mavis who recognised us from before and was always so lovely, Hannah, Elie for his brilliant restaurant management and the super juices at breakfast, all the boys who topped my wine glass up so frequently (consumption of Chilean rose at lunch must have fallen since we left!) and of course Windell's smile which is still as wide as the Caribbean. And of course all the unseen staff who cleaned our room so beautifully every day and tended the wonderful gardens. Thanks to to Gareth who put a tv in the pavilion for the six nations only for his beloved Wales to be thrashed by Ireland much to my husbands delight! He is a fantastic manager and the resort runs so smoothly.

If you want to do a little bit more shopping than Juliana offers - she has the necessities and we bought some nice bowls from her - a quick trip along the beach takes you to windjammer where there is a good shop with lots of t shirts and other gifts - also a mini mart there - just remember to take passport and itinerary to be able to buy duty free.

There is always chat about sunbed reservation etc - I freely admit to being a very early riser and come down to the beach well before 7. Yes I do 'book' sunbeds - but I also stay there until the other half stirs himself for breakfast and return to said beds straight after breakfast. Saw absolutely no evidence of anyone sneaking down at 7 and then not appearing until after 11. Any way there are plenty to go around - although I did hear ones on the beach got taken early - we prefer the promontory overlooking the beach.

Possibly the best way we can recommend this place is that we spent quite a lot of time thinking during this trip about where to go for our silver wedding next year - by the end of our stay we just thought we will just come back here!

Thanks East Winds - see you in May 2015!

Thank you for the most amazing comprehensive review, it says everything about EW , the stellar experience and more importantly like the legions of happy guests who visit us each season, you appreciate it has taken many years of dedicated work by the entire staff, most of whom have been with us for a minimum of ten years or more, which tends to make things happen so consistently well, as they do today.

Only a 3rd year repeater, and not an ancient Briton, you have a long way to go, hopefully we will see you again in 2015!

Thank you again

We were recommended to stay at East Winds by Tropic Breeze who have also made good choices for us, and this time was no exception. The many excellent reviews, the recent awards - obviously so well merited even among strong opposition - and the whole experience was wonderful. The staff need a special mention, as others have done too, because they make the whole holiday so good. We stayed at another 'inclusive' resort a little time ago that although trying hard it did not have the atmosphere and particularly the friendly staff of East Winds.

Thank you for your lovely review and a special mention of the agent who is so loyal to EW.

The staff deservedly receive acknowledgement for their sterling work, after all staff make a hotel, and especially in our world of the small boutique resort!
