We stayed at the East Winds Inn for 7 nights in late November 2011. We were so pleased that everything said in all of the amazing reviews was true! But, the best part was our all inclusive wedding. The staff at East Winds arranged everything for us: booking of photographer, videographer, hair/make-up and flowers. They arranged witnesses, officiant, cake and champagne! We only had to bring our outfits and ourselves! It was so stress-free and easy and everything was perfect on our wedding day. When we arrived Tat the resort we selected our wedding location (there are many gorgeous spots to choose from), wedding colours and cake flavour, then we relaxed until the wedding day! On the day of,the beautician, photographer and videographer that were booked for us were fantastic to work with and the prices were very reasonable. After the ceremony we enjoyed cake and champagne and a private romantic dinner for two (it was pouring rain during dinner time and they still brought us all four courses to our private hut on the beach with big smiles on their faces!)! It was the most perfect weddingmoon and we couldn't be happier with our choice of East Winds Inn, or more grateful to all of the fantastic staff who made our trip completely amazing!!

Room Tip: Ocean view suite is well worth the extra money for both view and a/c.

THANK YOU FOR THE WEDDING REVIEW OF OUR DREAMS

To read your most positive wedding experience review was a joy for all of us at East Winds Inn. While we do not have standardized, volume oriented “wedding packages”, it is obvious you found the customized services of our wedding planner much to your satisfaction. The staff at East Winds Inn literally go out of their way to ensure that each and every wedding is as special as our guests and what they envision – no two weddings are ever alike – just like no two married couples are ever alike.

As this review so graciously sets out, wedding dreams can become a reality when the heart and soul of the service providers is also captured. We are so pleased that you made your vows and began your married life together at East Winds Inn. Hopefully, we can help celebrate your future anniversaries as well.

Thank you for your support and faith in East Winds Inn for your big day, and we wish you many years of happiness together.

Best regards,

Our first visit to East Winds. The outline to this hotel has been well documented before. I can reiterate those comments, good accomodation, food and wine. Wonderful setting and garden. Super staff. It's like a big house party.
On a housekeeping note, the extent of the rocks into the sea are not defined and in murky sea conditions cannot be seen. Perhaps a bouy at the far extent would prevent further problems. I mention this as unfortunately whilst swimming in murky sea. on a breast stoke leg kick my wife's foot struck a sea urchin, which resulted in some 40 spines in the foot.( I found out later with mask and snorkel that there are a lot of sea urchins towards the end of these rocks.) Well dealt with by staff, but did curtail our plans and only got a trainer on 2 weeks later, still limping. Thanks to all who helped and especially Jonathan.
It does however leave unfinished business here and no doubt we shall return.

EXCELLENT REVIEW BY EXPERIENCED REVIEWER

Thank you for posting comments relating to your first experience at East Winds Inn – all sounding very positive. Your affirmation of all the gracious points made by previous reviewers is greatly appreciated – especially those pertaining to the “super staff”. The unfortunate incident your wife had with the sea urchin is upsetting. As you witnessed, we have an exceptionally large swimming area nearly 500 feet long which is buoyed off to ensure boats keep their distance. We encourage even strong swimmers to stay within these confines, and for the most part, we have minimal difficulty with local sea life such as sea urchins or jelly fish that can cause problems – mostly of an irritating nature. The water surrounding the buoys is deep and clear, and with a sand bottom, makes for an exceptional swimming experience. Only at the far extremities, are there coral reefs which are ideal for snorkeling. It is in one of these areas in which your wife unfortunately brushed a sea urchin – which are most prevalent in all parts of the Caribbean. Our watersports staff generally keep an eye open to swimmers who may be drifting into less friendly waters, ensuring there are no such incidents. Additional buoys, as you suggest, may also be of benefit.

We do like your comment about the unfinished business and how you will return to East Winds Inn to once again enjoy a natural Caribbean experience. Thank you for your support of East Winds Inn, and we hope to see you again soon.

Ashamedly it's taken me a year to write this review, but there are good reasons behind this. I won't reiterate what other reviewers have said, as without doubt this resort is one of the finest in the world and certainly the best in the Caribbean. The staff and service will leave you astounded at their incomparable levels of professionalism and sheer courtesy. And this is one of the reasons it's taken me a year to write this review! I've recently returned from a 2 week holiday to another island in the Caribbean - and let me just say that it took this holiday to realise how stunning, beautiful and complete the East Winds is in every way. And how much of an enormous mistake I made not returning to it! The entire two weeks that I was on this "other" island I could do nothing but think and talk of the East Winds. Other resorts in the region might attempt to copy the East Winds, but they are no where near the quality in terms of staff, food, beach and accommodation. I even begged other guests at this "other" resort to stop wasting their money and book the East Winds for next year! Which I know was very naughty, but when you've seen and experienced paradise as served to you by Gareth and his amazing team you want others to share in your sheer happiness. And it's not only the East Winds but once you've stayed there the whole of St Lucia feels as though it's a second home - lush, easy going and very very friendly. On a very personal basis, as a vegetarian, I cannot thank and recommend the East Winds Inn enough for providing such a delicious and varied menu for the entire time we were there, and taking such careful attention for all our needs.

All in all, I now realise now that the East Winds is truly a home away from home for me. So don't delay! Go ahead and book the East Winds! You will never regret it ever in your life.

PARADISE NOT FORGOTTEN – THANK YOU

Everyone at East Winds Inn is so pleased that you have taken the time to post such a meaningful review so long after you experienced East Winds Inn. Yours is not the first time we have heard such a story – where dated memories overpower more recent experiences and result in a yearning to return once again. That is the greatest reinforcement we could have – and we are so thankful to actually see it in print. Recent reviews by couples who have stayed at East Winds Inn 10, 15 and even 20 times reinforce your feelings, which you have shared so eloquently.

Please do not hesitate to return – we welcome you back with the greatest of enthusiasm to create even more meaningful memories. Hopefully, your tidings over East Winds Inn on the “other island” will bring those guests too. We greatly appreciate your support.

We went in search of rest and calm after a tough year. We got exactly that, along with many delights we had not anticipated: the exquisite gardens with 100 named plant species; surprisingly good sailing; the hordes of tiny tropical birds clamouring for the daily teatime cake by the pool; just the right level of delightful company from fellow guests and charming, capable staff. We had to change rooms at one point because the plumbing went wrong, but it was handled really well. We had some serious rain on two days but the rest of the time we were on the beach.

It's such a special place - no pressure, no hassle, no unwelcome noise and everything laid on beautifully but with a definite, if restrained, Caribbean vibe. We made a couple of excursions to see the island sights but, frankly, couldn't wait to get back to the resort. I read 12 books in 14 days and my husband spent a lot of time taking some terrific pictures. We returned two very relaxed people with very happy memories of a first rate holiday.

Room Tip: We had a superior garden cottage number 2 which was right by the facilities and the beach. We then...

RELAXING, TROPICAL HOLIDAY REVIEW MOST GREATLY APPRECIATED

Ending your extremely positive review by stating “We returned two very relaxed people with very happy memories of a first rate holiday” graciously sums up your overall impressions of East Winds Inn – for which we thank you most sincerely. It is rewarding for everyone at the resort to see that you appreciated the tropical gardens and all the natural bird life, the variety of interesting guests and the “capable” staff. We particularly enjoyed your line “It's such a special place - no pressure, no hassle, no unwelcome noise and everything laid on beautifully but with a definite, if restrained, Caribbean vibe.” That truly encapsulates the feeling we strive for. And to have read 12 books in 14 days – we must have you back to help lead a speed reading course!

We look forward to welcoming you back soon, and are grateful for your support of East Winds Inn.

Arriving at East Winds the welcome is great. First impressions are of the wonderful gardens in which the 30 rooms are located.
Then the peace of the place as you walk to your inividual cottage.Cottages are airy spacious and comfortable. At night the only noise is of crickets and tree frogs.
The setting is on a smallish but adequate beach with enough fixed umbrellas to lay back in the shade and enjoy the peaceful surrounds.
The kitchen provides wonderful food in 3 meals daily. Head Chef is French and provides the most varied menu. Dinner in the candle lit restaurant is a delight and so romantic. The meal is supplemented by approximately 7 different choices of wine. The staff are so efficient, friendly and helpful And there are 2 evening bars with an amazing range of drinks including champagne pre dinner.
There are so many superlatives one could use to describe a memorable stay here.
Repeaters occupancy runs very high, always a good sign.
On returning to Eastwinds the lovely staff are so pleased to see the repeat guest, remembering all their quirks and requirements from before.
My wife and I are immediately greeted using our Christian Names.
Although we have visited more than 20 times, we can never have enough of this beautiful small hotel and look forward to the next time.

If there is one potential problem in forever returning to a favourite holiday destination - and this was our 15th visit (buy 15 get one free??) - it is the thought that maybe, just maybe, things won't be as brilliant as the last time. We know every inch of the East Winds complex, and since completing all the main tourist activities, we now virtually never leave the place during our 12 nights, so it all comes under close scrutiny. What's changed since last year? The room has the addition of smart flat screen LG television and DVD player (only plays US format so don't bring discs from the UK), and a bedside ipod holder/radio. The beds and pillows are wonderful. The grounds are as lovely as ever, there's the (occasional) addition of pilates to the ongoing free morning yoga. Paula has introduced irresistible blueberry pancakes to her breakfast repertoire, and, as part of a newly launched 'green' initiative, the butter, jams and marmalades are served loose rather than prepacked. Johnny and his buddy are now working hard on the beach as even we of a certain age take to the water on the Hobie Cats (brand new replacements this year). The whole site (except the beach) is wi-fi so no need to bring loads of heavy books, and we could download the Telegraph every evening and enjoy the luxury of reading the following day's issue at 9.00pm!

Everything else is as wonderful as before - a very calm sea this time and only by visiting the competition do you realise just what a luxury a real sand private beach is. The staff are unparalleled and we love them all. We were relaxed within a hour of arriving and this year enjoyed the excitement of St. Lucia government elections, which the islanders take a heck of a lot more seriously than we do at home. A change of government to Labour was ecstatically greeted by all staff, and made for extra conversation.

This was Nov 20-Dec 3, and Eastwinds was virtually full, while the obligatory walk round the bay found Windjammer Landing looking almost like a ghost town! Says it all, really

The praise that continues to be lavished on this resort may seem unreal and OTT. The only way to find out is to experience it for yourself.
