“Highlight of our Vacation!”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

We booked our tour through the Island Routes desk at the Grand Saint Lucian. We had thought about doing it in advance but decided to see how the week was going before we made plans. When we checked in one day it was full, but luckily we got a call saying there was a spot. We left from the water activities dock at the Grande and took a speed boat through some choppy waters (it's just that time of year). We stopped periodically to hear about some sights along the coast. We then drove briefly back into Marigot Bay to see some of the homes and yachts parked there. We proceeded to another area to snorkel and swim for 45 minutes, followed by some rum punch on our way to the dock where we began the land portion of our tour. We met Simon at this point and he led us to some vans where we went to the mud bath (totally amazing, our skin has never felt so soft!) and then had lunch that is wife prepared. It was delicious (chicken, rice, peas, mac & cheese, salad)!! We then went to the waterfall (there were local vendors set up, but we didn't have cash, wish we would have known!). We were transported back to the boats and took about a 40 minute boat ride back to the resort. It was a 6.5 hour tour that felt like 2 because we had so much fun! I would recommend this tour without hesitation!!

“Simon Says is a scammer! Spend your money elsewhere.”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

If you see a red shirt with a "Simon Says Tours" on it turn around and run the other way. We just got home yesterday and taking this tour was one of our regrets, and one should not have regrets in life. Simon pitched us his tour on resort property, he is not a registered tour operator with Sandals La Toc. While talking to Us on the beach he was pulled aside by the resort police but he lied and said everything was good. We booked for the Wednesday for $110 per person for everything except for personal purchases.... cash only this should have been our first clue. We were picked up ontime by Ian and from that point forward did not leave the van ( which was desperately in need of new shocks) except for a few photo ops and road side vendors. Simon
said that the trip included snorkeling, tour of the rum factory, a stop at a banana plantation, a tour of a fishing village, stop at the mud baths, an authenticate caribbean meal and a stop at the waterfall. What we got was a rough bus ride, no boat in site so therefore no snorkeling. We drove through the plantation joking that if we stuck our hand out the window we might have scored a bunch. We stopped briefly at a number of photo ops and road vendors....nothing different after the first one so a waste of time. Got to the rum factory $4 to do the rum tasting and an additional $6 if you wanted to do the tour....no one in our group was interested so we left. Another long windy drive to the next stop which was the fishing village and basically corralled into one store for another shopping experience, no reference to the history or culture of the place at all and in fact the driver spent most of his time on his phone. We then made our way to the mud baths where we were forced to wait in the van for about 10-15 mins in the heat as there seemed to be mass confusion. We finally made our way to the entrance where Simon gave a short talk on the history and the proceeded to talk about himself and his wife and how they used to work for the resorts, didn't need to know that but helped explain his ability to work the system. Now the mud baths where we were crammed in like sardines, very unsafe as the terrain was very uneven and slippery. That was over pretty quick and then off for lunch at "Simon's home" for an authenticate meal of Mac n cheese, noodles, a very small piece of chicken, salad and beans. Oh ya, if you wanted a drink while at Simon's it costed you $4 per beer and $6 for hard liquor so much for the $110 covering everything. Now on our way to the waterfall where you stood in line to wade into the waterfall for your photo op. Time to make our way back but before we do we needed to pay the remaining fee. The drive back was uneventful, Ian stopped to get more beer,it was warm but it was beer. We found out after, when trying to get our photos at the photoshop that he was not affiliated with the resort hence no photos....very disappointing. All in all, don't do it....run away from Simon and look for another tour. To Simon, if your reading this shame on you for not being truthful and delivering a poor service.

“Huuuuuge ripoff”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

Simon is a scam artist. He told my wife and I how he's the best tour going and yapped about how highly rated he is. Meanwhile, instead of being the boat tour he spoke of, we didn't even go anywhere near a boat. He promised us a trip on a speed boat, snorkeling etc. No boat, no snorkeling. We did do the mud bath and waterfall he promised, but that was about 10 mins each while we spent most of our day crammed in a van with about 10 stops at roadside vendors trying to sell us the same stupid necklaces and hot sauce. Big disappointment, not worth the money. Wife and I just ended up feeling like we wasted one of our days in st. Lucia. Do "Joe Knows" instead. At least he's a registered tour guide and actually owns boats!

“Simon Says is a horrible tour”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

Our tour started with a 30 min van ride to a boat. We then took a 30 min boat ride to snorkel. The snorkeling was beautiful. It was the only positive of the trip. The boat ride to snorkeling had 30 people jam packed on the boat. I had to sit next to the steering column and could not see anything. After snorkeling we got on a van again and drove forever to the "volcano mud baths", which equaled filing in a line with 100 other people to get in the mud bath, wash off, and get in a van for another long ride. Simon was busy on the phone making business deals and talking to locals instead of giving a tour and explaining the surroundings. Then we arrived at his 'wife's restaurant' where we were fed a nugget sized piece of chicken, rice, and noodles. In the meantime, Simon had us order bars of pumice soap from the mud bath for $10 a piece. A HUGE deal. My husband looked outside and saw a man carry a bucket of the pumice soap in while they put in plastic baggies= HUGE ripoff. Then we got back in the van and drove forever to a small waterfall where we stood in a line of 100 people plunged in the cold water, got a picture, and packed up into the van again. Then we drove to a dock and loaded up the boat like sardines and were driven back to our hotel. The snorkeling and boat ride home were the only positives. It was a horrible tour and a huge ripoff for $110 per person. Don't go on this tour.
