We did the bus transfer when we arrived and it was hot and winding but not as bad as people had said. We really didn't fancy it on our return so booked the helicopter tours on the day we were leaving (don't let the local reps tell you you have to book 24 hours in advance its rubbish phone them direct). great service my husband and little boy were offered to sit up the front very friendly pilot and all staff. Great views saved lots of time we had our flight at 1830 got ours helicopter flight at 1630 so didn't have to hang about to board brilliant kids loved it too

We decided to skip the 90 minute bus transfer and indulge ourselves in a flight between airports, called it a mini excursion to justify it!
Unfortunately it was a cloudy day when we arrived but this aside the staff and pilot where friendly and professional throughout. Yes it's pricey but its a great way to see the island and if you're lucky you'll get a clear day. I was a bit disappointed that we also had to pay for the taxi ride to our hotel as I had thought this to be included.
Positives aside I was absolutely disgusted with the care shown to our luggage which was transported via road and delivered separately to our hotel. On leaving our luggage it was in perfect condition. When it arrived at our room I was informed that "are you aware of a small crack in your suitcase?" This turned out to be it had been battered all over St Lucia by the look of it and it was completely destroyed. St Lucia helicopter took over a week to "investigate" this but denied accountability. Luckily Sandals replaced our suitcase but St Lucia helicopters version of events that it was delivered in tact is nothing short of a disgrace.
My advice would be to insure your luggage if you do choose to fly with this company.

ST Lucia Helicopters. Great flight. Lousy ground service. Inbound wasn’t bad just wasn’t great. Arrive stand around in the terminal for an indeterminate time, get in a mini-van drive 50 yards get out of mini-van stand around a folding table in the hot sun in a parking lot for an episode of security theater by one guy with a wand and very perfunctory check of our hand bags. Get back in the mini-van and drive to the aircraft. The flight itself was fine, nice equipment and professional pilot. Our baggage found its way to our rooms within a couple of hours, we went to the pool as soon as we got to the Resort so I didn’t see the bags arrive.

We were traveling with friends, the day before we left a person from St. Lucia helicopters called my room and asked if we would like them to come get us or if we would get ourselves to the airport. I didn’t know since the other couple had made most of the travel arrangements, I asked the person who called me to call our friend since I didn’t know what his plan was.

The day of departure St. Lucia Helicopters had asked us to have our luggage, which was going to travel by van in the lobby by 0830. Of course we were there and waiting by 0820 and our plan was to give the driver our luggage and then go to breakfast. No van by 0850 so we talk to the concierge who tells us that St. Lucia Helicopters doesn’t even open until 0900. Over the course next hour and fifty minutes three phone calls to St. Lucia helicopters produced repeated promises that they would be there shortly. They finally picked up out luggage at 1050.

We were supposed to fly at 1145. At 1150 or so the pilot went out to the aircraft and started his pre-flight. While nice to watch his thorough and professional approach, it would have been nicer to watch at 1130. When we arrived at the airport the mini-van dropped us off in front of the check-in desks and the driver left with a vague promise to find us when our luggage arrived. After a short while we walked down to the St. Lucia Helicopters counter but no one was there. A few minutes later we looked out in the parking lot and saw the van, which had picked up our luggage, parked with the driver just sitting behind the wheel. We had to go ask for our bags.

By the way no security check of any kind on the outbound flight.

St. Lucia Helicopters need to apply the same professionalism to their ground operations that they do to their flight operations.

This is the way to go! Our van trip from the airport to Sandals Grande St. Lucian was a very long, curvy, and bumpy one. We decided to opt for the helicopter on the way back. It was sooooo worth it. So much faster and the views you get of the island and the ocean are spectacular. Our pilot was very good at explaining what we were flying over and island traditions!

Our resort was on the north end of the island so it was a quick transfer from the international airport to the north end. Great views of the island, definitely worth the money. My only complaint was we waited entirely too long. We booked ahead of time and they were taking some people that booked once they got the airport before us. Seems they have some poor organization.
