“Great place to stay”

My wife and I stayed at Blue Skies in November 2013. The villa itself is lovely, with a secluded pool and gardens - it is clean, very comfortable and secure.
We enjoyed visiting the surrounding beaches and towns- and zip lining! Thanks Francine and Simon!

We spent 1 week at the flat in the ground floor and really enjoyed our stay. The flat was well furnished and in a good location for the Marina. We also hired a car to drive around, but you could probably get around well by using the very frequent buses that leave within a short walk from the main road. Francine and Simon were very friendly and hospitable, pointing us to the best places and restaurants around there and helping us out when we had an issue with the car.
I recommend the apartment wholeheartedly.

We just returned from a fabulous stay at Blue Skies, in the newly opened 3-bedroom apartment upstairs which Simon & Francine used to live in. The villa was perfect for our needs as a family with a 3 year old and a 10 month old. You just need to take care with the kids by the pool (as you would anyway!) as there is a big drop. Very spacious and well equipped, with a sunny balcony and a shady balcony and lots of windows to let in lots of natural light and the odd hummingbird! The pool and gardens are very well kept and spacious, with beautiful tropical plants, birds and butterflies. While the marina and several restaurants are quite close, we found it a bit far to walk to town and the beaches but as others have mentioned, Simon & Francine provide a local mobile phone during your stay, pre-programmed with their numbers and Ali, their trusted taxi driver. It was much cheaper to get a couple of local taxis a day rather than hire a car as the distances are very short. A car would be great to explore further afield (and Simon & Francine have one they rent out) but as we spent a week down in the south afterwards, we didn't need to while at Blue Skies. Simon & Francine gave us a folder with other guests reviews of local restaurants which was a great shortcut to finding good food and were always available to help with any questions. Simon's free orientation trip on the first morning was a perfect start to the holiday and enabled us to work out which beaches to return to at our leisure. Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing holiday - we may well be back!

What a wonderful holiday we have just had in St Lucia, made even better by the warmth and hospitality of Simon and Francine at Blue Skies. The villa itself is lovely, with a secluded pool and gardens - it is clean, very comfortable and secure - but it is the host's attention to detail and welcoming nature that has made it a truly fantastic experience. While we chose an appartment because we like the independence, our holiday has been enhanced through their willingness to share their knowledge and experience, offering lifts to beaches, booking organised trips, giving a local guided tour etc etc. It seems that their aim is to help guests get the most out of their holiday as possible, being there when needed rather than imposing themselves, and their enthusiasm for the island has been infectious. We highly recommend this appartment to anyone looking to stay in the Rodney Bay area.

We read the various reviews on tripadvisor and were somehow in doubt how owners can actually get so many outstanding and quite personal reviews. Now, we stayed at Blue Skies and find ourselves simply repeating what all others said or wrote before ...
Yes, Francine and Simon are truely different hosts. We have quite extensive travel experiences but I never ever had the feeling that anyone really cared for us or their guests in general. Simon and Francine do. I think it is very unusual to receive a mobile phone with a prepaid card to be able to call in case of any serious need just as it is unusual to get free rides to the supermarket and ... while still being very respectful and discreet @Francine and Simon: thank you for this wonderful experience.
Besides, we found Rodney Bay and its surroundings just perfect for our stay. The best beaches of St. Lucia close by, great restaurants (we recommend Pigeon Island!) and everything else of interest also reachable within reasonable time (car recommendable for a few days). We also recommend a sailing trip (Francine has recommendations) and a closeup visit to the Pitons.

I stayed in the one bedroom apartment as a wedding gift from my mum, my husband and I loved the apartment so much we didn't want to leave. My mum and family stayed in the bigger apartment and were clearly very comfortable.
I was drawn to Simon and Francine's lovely character that I invited them to be guests at my wedding and reception. They even offered the use of the grounds of the apartment to take my photos, which was lovely because it was a beautiful backdrop to the pictures.
Simon and Francine are always on hand to help, and assist you without hesitation, its home away from home, with the added bonus of a pool and jacuzzi to use when we liked.
They are close to Rodney Bay (mall and restaurants) and the Rodney Bay marina, also to Gros Islet Friday night street party.
Definitely a place to return to.
Thanks again Simon and Francine for the wedding gift and putting those personal touches to the apartment.

We recently returned from a visit to Blue Skies and can't recommend it enough. From the moment we were picked up from the airport and promptly treated to a cold local beer on the drive to the apartment, it was apparent that we were going to be well looked after!

The owners Simon and Francine were so welcoming and happy to help us out with excursion bookings or to give us a lift to a beach or supermarket, throughout our stay. Francine took us for an orientation tour the day after our arrival, to get us acquainted with the area and some of its highlights - this is the kind of little extra that sets Blue Skies apart from the usual self catering accommodation, the welcome here makes you feel more like a family friend rather than a paying guest. There was even some essential food items waiting for us so we didn't need to rush straight to the supermarket to stock up.

We stayed in the one bedroom apartment, which was roomy, well equipped, and has air-con in the bedroom, which was a relief on those humid Caribbean nights! There's also a jacuzzi style bath indoors, as well as the one outside by the pool. The apartment was cleaned regularly, and the pool was well looked after too

Getting around from the apartment is pretty straightforward, the nearest local bars & restaurants are at Rodney Bay marina, about a 5 - 10 minute walk away. Also within easy walking distance are several supermarkets, Gros Islet, a local fishing village with the more affordable of the local bars & restaurants (and also the venue for the regular Friday night street party, or "jump up", well worth a visit for a boogie, a beer and some great local food and spiced rum!), and Rodney Bay's main strip with loads of bars, restaurants and the beautiful Reduit Beach.

Although Simon & Francine are happy to drop guests at any of these spots, they can all be accessed (or returned from) on foot, by taxi or by bus. We found the buses particularly useful, more like privately owned mini-buses, they run between Gros Islet in the north, through Rodney Bay and all the way down to the capital Castries. Mostly used by the locals, these are a useful alternative to pricey cabs, from Rodney Bay Mall near Reduit Beach back up the road to Blue Skies cost 3 $EC for the two of us on the bus, compared with a 20 - 25 $EC cab fare for the same trip.

Pidgeon Island is also nearby and well worth a visit to explore the old fort and barracks and take in a little history. A great beach for snorkelling there too.

Simon helped us to get booked onto the Seaspray Cruises "Tout Bagay" (everything in Creole) Catamaran daytrip down to the Pitons, St Lucia's Picture Postcard volcanic mountains toward the South. This was a fun day out, packing in several experiences like the drive-in volcano, hot springs and mud bathing, visiting a plantation for lunch, snorkelling in a picturesque bay and partying on the boat on the way back.

St Lucia has a lot to offer, and Simon & Francine are keen to ensure that their guests get the most out of their visit, whether you'd like to chill out and relax, or if you want to adventure, or a bit of both, Blue Skies' laid back and friendly accommodation is a match for this beautiful Island and its lovely people.

Thanks Simon & Francine, we may well be visiting again someday! :o)
