“Count on a French chef for the best meal!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2010

During a recent trip to St. Lucia, we dined at several well-known restaurants in Castries and Rodney Bay. Most were average to good. We ordered seafood frequently, and in other places it was, sadly, over-cooked. However, Jacques Waterfront Dining, also known as "Froggy Jack's" served perfectly prepared food. Both meat and fish were delicious, and the bread was great. Staff was very friendly and efficient. This is an above-average restaurant if you are dining around the area.

“Excellent Food and Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2010

Our Family had a wonderful wedding reception/dinner experience at Jacques. The service was as exceptional as the food. Located right on the water and is a quiet intimate setting. The owners go out of their way to make your experience a nice one.

NOTE ON PHOTO
Since your visit we have re-located to a lovely new and elegant waterfront premises in Rodney Bay following a fire at the old location. If you are ever back in St Lucia pass by and say hello. Most of our original staff are still with us and we look forward to making your experience just as enjoyable as the last one!

“It deserves more than what it gets, I...”

It deserves more than what it gets, I will never regret traveling the 25 min from Rodney bay to the restaurant to eat such good food with great service and the perfect atmosphere. I will most defintely be going there again. ( get the chicken stuffed with salmon in the citrus sauce or the seafood brochette)

“High quality food with a beautiful view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2009

We headed to Jacques for lunch after a host of disappointing meals at other restaurants. The staff were well-presented, welcoming and friendly. We had a table looking out onto Vigie Cove, watching the boats come as go as we ate. The food was cooked with high-quality ingredients, well cooked, tasty and portion sizes were just right. This is a restaurant that must be visited during your time to St. Lucia - I will certainly be returning!

“Wow, great food, service AND location!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2009

Jacques Waterfront Dining is a successful, established restaurant with an excellent local reputation. We elected to go there after hearing wonderful things about both the setting and, of course, the food.
Our evening kicked off with cocktails created by Cyril, one of several staff members who have been with the restaurant since it opened over 10 years ago. My Margarita was great, and came with a plate of plantain chips and a nice salsa. Whilst enjoying our aperitif we placed our order and shortly sat down to our meal (served to us by our waitress Kiva, a staff member there for six years). I had crab back, a Caribbean staple that exceeded expectations, light and piquant served on a bed of julienne carrots tomatoes and salad leaves, and this was great with a dash of lime. Sticking with fish, I then had a seafood brochette served with a light curry sauce and rice, potatoes and perfectly-cooked veg.
My desert was a delicious chocolate gateau, rich without being cloying.
Over dinner we discussed what it took to run a great restaurant in St Lucia. We gathered that French chef Jackie and his English wife Cathy were extremely experienced caterers. Jackie had worked as the chef at the luxury Anse Chastanet hotel for four years before setting up their own restaurant, and had a wealth of catering experience before that. They are now sought-after by wedding planners as well as having VIP catering contracts, it transpired. Over here you need to be creative and good improvisers, as it’s not always easy to get exactly what you want. Keeping their staff is very important to them. All the service charges and tips go to the staff – a practice that, unfortunately, is not the same at all other establishments, we learned. Consistency of food AND service appears to be where Jacques is a winner.
The setting is a delight, so that, along with the food and service, made this a really memorable evening for us.
