Having walked past this restaurant on a daily basis to try other restaurants in rodney bay, we decided to give Memories of Hong Kong a try not least for the fact that we were both craving some vegetables.
We are glad we went in.
The food, although a little pricey, was of a very high quality. We had crispy duck to start and this featured handmade pancakes - this was a first for us and we could taste the difference.
The bar was set high going into our main courses of Singapore noodles (delicious, light and not greasy as often models are), Szechuan vegetables and pork both, of which made our taste buds dance a merry jig!
More? Well another reason we thought so much of the place is the chilli squid (a staple when eating in south East Asian restaurants). The fish was delicious and the spice just right, but we found it a bit floury so sent it back to be crisped up. It returned but still was not to our liking. When we ordered the bill we found that we weren't charged for the squid; incidentally we hadn't complained. On leaving we had a chat with the chef and he apologised for the squid even though it transpires he uses a different starch to what we were used to... Now that IS service.
