“Pleasantly surprised”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

Having walked past this restaurant on a daily basis to try other restaurants in rodney bay, we decided to give Memories of Hong Kong a try not least for the fact that we were both craving some vegetables.

We are glad we went in.

The food, although a little pricey, was of a very high quality. We had crispy duck to start and this featured handmade pancakes - this was a first for us and we could taste the difference.

The bar was set high going into our main courses of Singapore noodles (delicious, light and not greasy as often models are), Szechuan vegetables and pork both, of which made our taste buds dance a merry jig!

More? Well another reason we thought so much of the place is the chilli squid (a staple when eating in south East Asian restaurants). The fish was delicious and the spice just right, but we found it a bit floury so sent it back to be crisped up. It returned but still was not to our liking. When we ordered the bill we found that we weren't charged for the squid; incidentally we hadn't complained. On leaving we had a chat with the chef and he apologised for the squid even though it transpires he uses a different starch to what we were used to... Now that IS service.

“Love the food”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

Good service, great prices, cheaper than Canada and better quality, you have to treat the staff with respect, and in return tons of food, when we were there ignorant tourists treated the staff like crap, we had food for days, saved us a lot of money, treat people as you would like to be treated, we will be back.

“Not worth the prices”
Reviewed November 1, 2013 via mobile

Nice food with average service. However, prices are around twice what you would pay in England so I would say not worth it. Much better spending the money and sampling some local cuisine.
