Our stay started with a room I know was not the room we booked, right by the main pool were at times it is rather loud. The hassle of unpacking and moving after the first night was resolved when we spoke up about getting upgraded( with some help from our travel agent ) and some stern concerns for good service, the hotel staff stepped up and offered a room more to what I feel we paid for. The food is excellent at all the restaurants, over all staff got friendlier during our stay. Maid service is lacking and cleanliness of the room was below par. Beach at La Toc is always on red flag...a trip to the Grande can solve this problem for the beach goer. Views are incredible from the bluff and sunsets couldn't be anymore then magazine quality. As returning guest we were treated well with private five star dinner and comp. bottle of rum. "All-Inclusive" provides the basics, cabanas, better wines, and golf are extra. As blue collar, hard working people, sandals may not be our next first choice but we will consider it an option in future vacations.

Just returned from a wonderful visit to Le Toc - Sandals. Very nice staff - especially John and Vaughn upon arrival - Georgie and Jeanett at the pool bar - and the best bartender and singer,
Lucas in the piano lounge. Out of the three clubs on the island this was our best choice as we
golfed every other day - not the greatest course - but challenging enough and I got some good coaching from my caddie Selwyn. The restaurants were all very good and accomodate all needs.
Our room had a lovely large patio looking right out to the Ocean #302. Thanks the patience of Tammy in 'Come Again' offices, we have booked another visit to Jamaica. Best part is there are no hagglers on the beach, no bracelets, no tipping (but you can secretly like we did) and everyone was very polite. Lovely Island - will return one day.

My husband and I went to Sandals La Toc on our honeymoon from 2/25-3/8/14. We wanted an adults-only all-inclusive with great service and Sandals delivered! We booked a room with a balcony in the main building (didn't want to splurge for a pricier room with butler service), and we ended up on the top floor, in the far corner, which was perfect! It was still close enough to be able to be a part of all the events and goings-on, without having the noise from the pool bar or the Pavilion (where events go until 11pm almost every night). We even went down to the Pavilion to grab breakfast and brought it back up to our room to eat on the balcony on a few mornings.

The beach at La Toc is not the best on the island, but we really enjoyed how spread out everything was. No matter where you were on property, you never felt like it was crowded (and we had heard that the resort was sold out while we were there). We did take the free shuttle over the the Grande two days to take advantage of their beach and beach activities. The only downside there was the number of locals trying to sell you things on the beach. La Toc has much fewer salesmen on the beach.

The restaurants were all delicious! Pitons was by far our favorite. Be sure you make reservations at the two restaurants that require them (La Toc & Kimonos) as soon as you get to the resort... they fill up fast.

Notable employees who went above and beyond their already high level of service:

Albert at Pavilions was always professional, and happy to be there
Keitha at Armando's was a fantastic server
Gibson at Cricketers was funny and inviting
Tatiana & Davia, our housekeepers (the nice notes and flower arrangements made it really great)
Joanie at the main Pavilion Bar has a great sense of humor, keeps guests happy and does an overall GREAT job.
Gina, the busser at Pavilion and Pitons (we waited for her to come back onto the floor just to give her a hug because she was so thoughtful and cheerful)
Joachim at the front desk always had answers for us and was very helpful
Renatta, a busser at Pavilions was amazing
Niecer is an entertainment leader extraordinaire
Yannick is also an entertainment leader extraordinaire
John at Sunset Bar... although this bar tends to be very slow (often times empty), he's always enjoying himself and making guests feel welcome.

We can't wait to go to another Sandals sometime soon!

We just returned from a two week vacation at Sandals La Toc and I can't say enough good things about this place. After reading some of the negative reviews we were a little concerned about what we were getting into, but we quickly learned there was nothing to be worried about. We took the helicopter ride from the airport and that was an awesome experience! We were then escorted to the butlers lounge and check in was very smooth, then we learned there was a mix up with our room. We had booked the Romeo and Juliet penthouse suites and had requested to be on the top floor. For some reason, the top floor wasn't available that day. We were put into a room on the third floor and the manager, Suzie, assured us that our fourth floor room would be available the following day. The next day, Suzie escorted us to the room on the fourth floor, #892, to see if it met our approval. As soon as we walked into the room, we were just amazed by the breathtaking view! Suzie went out of her way to correct the mistake and we were very pleased with our room. She treated the situation in a very professional, courteous, and friendly matter, making us really feel that our satisfaction was of the utmost importance. Then we met our butlers, Lola and Michelle. Those two went above and beyond anything we could possibly have imagined. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and our anniversary, and they made both of those days more special than we ever dreamed of. Thanks for the memories, ladies. They learned everything about us; such as what we like to drink, to eat, favorite places for pool chairs, and would automatically take care of things before we even asked. We always had little surprises in our room; bubble bath drawn, towel animals, snacks, and decorations on the bed. I've read many reviews where people complain about guests in butler suites getting special treatment, but isn't that the reason you spend the extra money for a butler suite? I truly enjoyed being pampered and treated special, and Lola and Michelle are the ones that made that happen. The resort is so beautiful, clean, and well kept. The landscaping is very impressive, and there were always people cleaning and trimming to keep it that way. We were in awe from beginning to end. We just left today but miss it already and can't wait to go back. I urge everyone to ignore the negative reviews, those people don't know paradise when they see it! I'm hoping to return soon, and will definitely request Lola and Michelle again!!!

Room Tip: Romeo and Juliet penthouse suites. The view is simply amazing!!!

Our Sandals experience was AMAZING! It was our 30th wedding anniversary and we wanted it to be special, we could not have asked for anything Greater than what we received there. From the start, we were welcomed with cool towels, and a glass of champagne, then escorted to the comfortable lobby area where Raysi-Sha made us feel like family already. Garfield at the front desk was so friendly and well mannered, John then took us to our room which was clean, cozy and comfortable. My husband and I noticed how polite, warm gracious and well mannered the staff was. Dinner at the 'Kimono' Japanese cuisine, and La Toc French cuisine were the highlights of our visit. Nothing was too much for John, Garfield, Oswald, Victor,Jo Achin, Alton, Dameta, Abiola and of course Jacqui, all made sure we were always satisfied. Thanks again to all of you and the staff as a whole who never passed us without saying a hello with a smile. You all made our trip a Fantastic one. We will be back for sure.

Room Tip: Our room was overlooking the pool with an Ocean View............Beautiful

We booked this vacation on short notice. To be honest after reading some of the reviews after we booked I was a little concerned about some of the reviews. I'm glad I didn't listen to them! If you are hesitant - don't be! We travel a lot. From the time you get off the plane you are escorted to the Sandals lounge and offered a beverage while you await your shuttle/taxi. St. Lucia is very hilly with a lot of winding roads. But the scenery is beautiful - and we chatted the entire time with the couple in our van and the time (about an hour) flew by. Our driver Mike was awesome..and so friendly. They know how to drive there...so don't be nervous about that. The resort itself is beautiful. Quiet and relaxing and majestic. The ocean was beautifully turquoise and we swam everyday. The staff is amazing at this resort. So friendly and so respectful. The food was excellent. When dining at the Pavillion at night..be sure to order two or three of each item..it's Tapas style..but excellent! The Piano Bar at night from 9:30 on is a must..so fun with live music and Lucas the bartender singing while he serves from time to time. A blast! Rent the private cabana for a day!!! You will fall in love with Javon your personal butler and will want to take him home with you! If you are looking to tour the island and have a good time - You have to take the JOE KNOWS tour. You will see and learn everything you want to see on the island...from the Pitons, to snorkeling to volcanic mud bath and real island exquisite food. It's the best excursion we have ever taken..and everyone who takes it doesn't stop talking about it after! Over all - it was excellent. Don't listen to negative reviews....because this was more than better than we expected.

Room Tip: The villas on the hill were quiet and beautiful!

Cost: $2,964
Booked: sandals.com
Room: “Emerald Oceanview Walkout Room”

Overall, the majority of the staff and upper management are wonderful and made every effort to ensure we had a great honeymoon. Unfortunately, two horrible staff members ruined our entire honeymoon. Let’s start with the positives:

Positives:

I can’t say enough about Martina, Della, Ravin, Javan, Versilia, and John. These are first class employees and represent Sandals well. Our American Airlines flight was delayed around three hours and we essentially ended up missing a day. The management here offered another night at the end of our vacation free of charge.

Special thanks to Allison and Terry who arranged a private transport to the airport for us. I became sick with the worst diarrhea of my life the night before my departure. They confirmed the private transportation and set it up for me. Great job Allison and Terry.

The most heart warming moment came when John & Versilia became aware that my wife was severely dehydrated (more on this below). They personally sent up fresh coconut water. Outstanding customer service by John and Versilia.

My new wife contracted a severe urinary tract infection that ended up spreading to her kidneys. The resort nurse examined her and explained that she needed to see a doctor immediately due to the dehydration and other symptoms. The doctor came to our room a few hours later and determined that she had to visit the local hospital. The doctor charged $120 US dollars and did not give us a receipt so that will unfortunately not be reimbursed by our insurance. Then we paid a taxi ($20 US dollars) to take us to Tapion Hospital. Medical care in St. Lucia is far different than visiting a hospital in the United States. The billing is not as simple as handing over your insurance card. We learned the hard way that a declaration of international coverage is needed and the burden of proof is on the patient. I had to put down a deposit of $800 (US) so that they would begin treating my wife. I eventually got it all taken care of and that’s where Della made our day slightly better. She called me at the hospital and had someone deliver lunch from the resort on a tray. This was much needed and we can’t thank her enough for this small gesture. After leaving the hospital, we then paid for another taxi to take us back to the resort. By the time we got back to the resort, most of the restaurants had closed so we were afraid we weren’t going to eat dinner. We were then informed that we had paid for room service (we missed orientation due to the late flight where this information would have been told to us) and so we placed our order and ate in our rooms. We also explained to Ravin that we missed our tour scheduled for that day. He knew that we just paid $800 in hospital fees and assured me that my $250 tour fees would be refunded. Thank you so much Ravin!

Room: A+

We paid for a room entitled “Emerald Oceanview Walkout Room”. We were expecting a room that had a walkout to the ocean directly. Instead we got a room right by the pool and the party. We expected people to walk by but what we didn’t expect was to be so close to the party. The music is LOUD and if you go to sleep before 11:00pm, guess what, YOU’RE NOT SLEEPING before 11pm! Do not get a pool side room if you don’t want to be near the party scene. It gets wild over there so just be aware. I say it gets wild as a former fraternity member with his fair share of parties. It’s nothing more than a frat party with a bunch of honeymooners/weddingmooners. We brought our concerns to Martina who promptly offered us a choice of two other rooms. We picked the rooms on the bluff overlooking the resort and could not have been happier! The view was absolutely breath taking. It is away from the party and peaceful. Just what we wanted. Thank you Martina for helping us! The room was cleaned daily and had the perfect view. The only negative is that there weren’t enough American electric outlets. Most were European.

Drinks: B+
Good mid-shelf drinks. Don’t come to La Toc expecting Chateau De Rothschild wine because you will get Beringer. Try the mango coladas! I enjoyed Piton beer and they stocked my mini fridge daily with both (champagne too). Nothing but positive things to say about the alcohol; however, I am not a heavy drinker. I can definitely see a spirit connoisseur being disappointed with the alcohol selection.

Cabana: A+

This is the best value for your money. Spend the $50 for a half day of cabana and you will get a butler who will bring you your food and drinks right to you. Javan is EXCELLENT and will cater to your every need. I strongly urge you to purchase the private cabana and receive this service.

Cons:

Theft/Deceptive Business Practices Incident: F

Summary: I was quoted one price for a second Sandals stay. They then charged my credit card for the deposit and insurance. Then, they give me the final invoice, which has a much higher rate. I am then told that discounts “are coming” and to trust them but they could not give me an invoice with the correct price. Finally, I was told my insurance fee could not be refunded.

After so many problems (flight delays, hospitalizations, room changes, etc), my wife and I decided to do a “re-do” honeymoon. There are signs all over the resort saying that the cheapest rates to book future Sandals stays is in the “Soon Come Back” office. DO NOT BELIEVE THIS. THIS IS A SCAM. THIS IS THE SHADIEST PART OF THE ENTIRE RESORT. My wife and I had decided on Sandals White Plantation in Jamaica and obtained a quote online for about $3200 for four nights during our anniversary and figured that we would get further discounts in the Soon Come Back Desk. Ricky (the sales rep) quoted me at the exact price as the online quote. I informed Ricky that I was only going to book a future vacation if I could obtain a better rate in person than I could online. He apologized and my wife and I began to leave the sales office. He then stops us and says that he has a special discount for me since it was our first time visiting Sandals. He explained that my rate would be $2891 and that I would also get a Sandals Select discount in the future. My wife and I thought this was a good deal and agreed to $2891 plus $325 in rewards discounts. He advised me that I would only have to put down $400 plus the cost of the optional travelers insurance. He then charged my card and then showed me a bill for a total of $3200+ (the cost of the online quote). I explained to him that the charges were wrong and that we had mutually agreed upon $2891 as the rate which should have appeared on the bill. He explained to me that further discounts will be coming in 6-8 weeks but he was unable to write down these discounts or put them on the itemized bill. He offered to quote “write it on another piece of paper” but not on the receipt itself. I explained to him that this was very deceptive as we were thinking our final invoice would be around $2500-$2600 after the $325. He then calls his manager, Ian, who was just as rude and explained that we understood wrong. I told him that he should have provided me with a written invoice prior to charging my card as I would have never agreed to pay the price I can get online. He then told me that I agreed to $3200 and that the discounts were coming. He refused to get these discounts on paper. At this point, I explained to him that I felt deceived because my card was charged prior to the invoice with the higher amount. Ian agreed to refund my $400 deposit but said there was nothing he could do about the insurance ($200) since some mysterious office was “closed”. I then asked to speak to his superior to which I was told that he was the highest ranking officer and nothing could be done. I later requested to speak to the Director of Guest Relations, Victor, who ignored my requests to speak with him.

Feral Cat Infestation: F

This place is INFESTED with cats. Cats everywhere! Dining probably isn’t sanitary because there are dozens of cats walking around the restaurants really close to the food. People will feed the cats and it is quite obvious who is doing it as there will be four or five cats surround that table. If you don’t want to eat with cats, make a reservation at one of the indoor restaurants. Be mindful of the cats if you get a cabana because they WILL eat off your plate and won’t take no for an answer. These feral cats will take what they want and have the ability to hurt you if you are not careful. The thought of all these cats makes me wonder where all the cat fecal matter goes to. I brought my concerns up to the attention of the resort nurse (when I was experiencing the worst diarrhea of my life), Maria, who advised me that the cats were vaccinated and that I had nothing to worry about.

Transportation: F
The drive to the resort is HORRIBLE. The driver is NOT employed by Sandals directly and will make every effort to inform you of such because he will ask you for a tip. Our driver was absolutely nuts and violated multiple Texas traffic laws (I am a police detective for one of the top 10 largest police departments in the country). The driver constantly drove in the center of the road, passed other vehicles when it was unsafe to do so, tailgated people at an unreasonable distance, and sped the entire way. The drive made me feel nauseated and very anxious at times. I would definitely pay for a private driver in the future! All the occupants in the bus felt very unsafe through the winding roads of St. Lucia.

Unattended Bags: F

Upon arrival to the resort (safely, thankfully!) our bags were placed across the lobby and we were taken to the seating area in the lobby. This made my wife feel very uncomfortable as no one was taking care of our bags and they were in plain view. She felt as if someone could steal the bags or its contents. We advised the Sandals representative of this who told my wife to “relax”. I am not sure about everyone else, but in my personal anecdotal experience, telling a woman to “relax” is not a smart thing to do. We informed her that we could not relax with our bags as unsecured as they were and eventually she agreed to let us maintain control of our bags. Perhaps we are used to the states and the airports that say NEVER LEAVE YOUR BAGS UNATTENDED.

Spa: F
Probably the biggest waste of money at this resort. We called the morning of and asked for a couples massage. We requested around 2pm and were informed that everything was booked and that they would have to upgrade us to the outdoor gazebo at no charge. I wish we would have cancelled right there and waited for another time. First, they make you show up early (that’s a reasonable request) but have absolutely nothing for you to do while you wait. You have to sit in a room alone and stare at the wall. No magazines, no televisions, nothing. The masseuse argued with my wife because my wife requested extra firm pressure to which she was told that extra firm pressure requires her to pay more for another package. This clearly annoyed my wife as she receives bi-weekly massages in the US and has never heard of such a thing. What made things worse is that a party boat parked right in front of the gazebo by the shore and blared their music for approximately 15 minutes of our 50 minute massage. The entire boat was dancing and screaming the lyrics to “I Don’t Care” by Apocolyptica. It really ruined the relaxation that was supposed to be provided because we couldn’t hear ourselves think. BUT, the management asked me how the massage went to which I told them it was ruined because of the music. They sat down with us and offered us a complimentary massage. I declined their offer and was satisfied that they tried to make it better. So long story short, don’t expect anything other than light pressure in your massage and get it done inside!

Food: C-
Get the concierge level rooms because it is free room service! It’s a small menu but it’s adequate. Chef Michael is awesome is willing to work with anyone who has a special dietary request (my wife is vegetarian). Order your food AT LEAST one hour AND A HALF before you actually want to eat it because it does take some time to get to your room.

The Pavilion in the center gets packed. This is cafeteria style and cafeteria quality. People wait for it to open and then swarm to the food. Lunch was cheap taco shells and some paninis. Not worth the crowds. The St. Lucian ice cream is wonderful though, try it!

The Neptune restaurant was great. Eat here. It has a lovely setting on the beachfront. Only drawback is the portion size. You have to order two entrees to feel satisfied (hey, it’s included so go for it!). Also, be aware that the fish is not always deboned. I threw away two separate dinners because they were way too boney.

The food at Armando’s was the worst and lacked seasoning/flavor. I hardly ever put salt on my food but the chef there did not cook with any spices at all. Save yourself the trip up the ramp. This restaurant has the biggest feral cat infestation so be careful!

The pizza restaurant is good too, but what pizza is bad, really?

The Pitons restaurant was mediocre at best. Lots of bones in my fish and my wife hated her vegetarian alternative.

Don’t even bother trying to get reservations for the other restaurants the day of. You must call at least 72 hours ahead of time. We weren’t able to experience the other ones because of they filled up quick.

Tip: Don’t try any of the breakfast pastries. They’re horrible and really the sorriest part of the dining here.

Tip 2: There is usually self-serve pizza and Jamaican chicken wraps right by the Neptune restaurant. The service can be painfully slow so grab yourself a couple of slices to hold you over. I really wish someone would have told us this!

Beach: F
DO NOT COME TO SANDALS LA TOC IF YOU WANT TO SWIM IN A BEACH! It is a very small beach and it usually has activities suspended because of the tide. The rip tide is STRONG and can definitely suck you in if you aren't careful. Do pay attention to the flag system where red means no beach activity. Apparently there is a life guard on duty between business hours but everyone was still swimming in the water despite the red flag. With that said, it is GORGEOUS to photograph and look at. It’s a shame that the water is so pretty yet was unavailable for most of our trip due to the current. Finally, some local hounded us while we were inside our private cabana on the beach about buying his musical instrument. It sounded great, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Customer Service: F

So we requested to speak to the Director of Guest Relations, Victor around 12:30pm on Saturday regarding our lost insurance fees from the deceptive Soon Come Back office. He never bothered to come. The director of customer service speaks for the entire department and therefore the fact that he didn’t even bother to talk to us shows what level of customer service that Sandals is trying to provide.

Don’t bother calling the main Sandals number on the weekend. They are closed and you on your own. This can be an incredibly frustrating situation when your grievance is against a management level employee (Victor).

Wi-Fi: C

I am giving this a C because it came with our package and because I didn’t want too good of high speed internet for fear of doing work related tasks as opposed to spending time with my new wife. Unless it comes with your package, do not waste your money. It usually does not work in the Bluffs but works closer towards the pavilion. I called the concierge and requested the IT manager contact me to which he never did. Make sure you purchase either VIBER or SKYPE minutes prior to your arrival in St. Lucia. It costs $3.25 a minute to make an international call from your room as opposed to pennies through those apps (and the Wi-Fi).

In Summary: D-

We will not be returning to any Sandals resort ever again based on the sketchy sales reps, their director of guest relations, and the unsanitary conditions. I don’t feel comfortable recommending this resort knowing the deceptive staff who charge my credit card first and then present me a bill with a far higher price than what was negotiated.

I want to be clear that the majority of the staff are amazing and really care about their guests. They are REALLY nice people. Simply put, stay far away from Ricky and Ian as they will tell you whatever price you want to hear to convince you to hand them your credit card. Do not bother with the Director of Guest Relations as he is not helpful at all and will not bother to even hear your concerns.

Please, take your money elsewhere and far away from Sandals Regency La Toc.

Room Tip: Get a bluff room! Do not buy a pool side room if you want peace.
