“Honeymoon stay at Rendezvous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2013

My wife and I spent one week at Rendezvous for our honeymoon (March 28th – April 4th, 2013), while escaping -4C Canadian weather. We stayed in Verandah Suite, decor was not as modern as other suites, but it was very spacious. We spent most of our time doing activities and in lazy river.

From the moment my wife and I arrived, we were greeted in the friendliest manner and we
felt the warm hospitality and friendliness of the front desk personnel and resort staff.

This hotel is truly outstanding and remarkable for service, cleanliness, meals (absolutely sumptuous), activities and location in the key. Food, activities and staff were definitely the highlights of our trip.

We were well impressed with the included activities on the resort. Every morning we looked forward to do a handful of activities to keep us active, fresh and give us a chance to mingle with other guests and resort staff.

Spacial thanks to Pauline for city tour and sunset yoga, Dean for beach volleyball, Shane (bartender), Trevor for making tireless rounds always with a smile and keeping our drinks topped up in the lazy river.

We also went on a one day excursion tour to Soufrière and saw botanical garden, diamond waterfall and volcanic mud bath. Boat cruise to Soufrière was amazing and very scenic.

There is no doubt that we will be coming back to St. Lucia for our 1st year anniversary and also without doubt we shall stay at Rendezvous Resort.

Room Tip: - book for Trysting Place in advance, Verandah Suite are spacious but decoration is bit dated

We really enjoyed our honeymoon here. While the room was a little basic the general facilities were excellent and the food was consistently good and plentiful. We particularly enjoyed the watersports including such as tubing, diving and sailing. St Lucia has lots to offer and we have fond memories of our stay.

We booked Rendezous on Cyber Monday with a 50% off special, that said we are happy we did not pay anymore. The Beach is wonderful along with a fantastic staff. After being at "Couples" and Sandals this place was below our expectations. Hoping for more luxury and boutique feel. The rooms have NO TV's, NO Stocked Refrigerator ( Not even a bottle of water) & the bath towels that could be used for sand paper. No even a note pad and pen could be found in our room.
The main restaurant is buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. The selections are very limited. The "Special" restaurant the food was very good, but the decor is a funeral home. Not to mention the occasional cock roach visit. (which did not both us, we understand it's a Island) The house wines are not very good, we only found the Argentinian Merlot to be drinkable. The guests are mainly from the UK and Canada, with many honeymooners.

The BEST part of the vacation with the fantastic dive staff of Lincoln, Chris & Loui G. The included dives are close to the resort are just OK. The $85 per diver Marine park 2 tank dives are worth the money. The boat trip south to the marine park takes about 40 minuets. The dive staff took great care of our equipment and always had a smile.

We enjoyed our visit to Body Holiday and dinner @ TAO. The food was super! along with the wine.
They had much better house wines than at Rendezvous. The service both @ the beach bar and TAO was extremely good.

Don't forget they also DO Not include your airport transfers that will cost you $80 per couple each way. So when looking at your options for St. Lucia double check what's really ALL Inclusive.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. Please accept our sincerest apology for not meeting your expectation. Our goal is to always provide the best service possible and we take comments such as yours very seriously. We do try to be very clear about the amenities provided in our rooms, as we never want our guests to expect something we do not offer, such as a TV or stocked refrigerators. We do however have a large screen TV in the hospitality room that is always available to guests.

Noted are your comments on the cock roach sightings, I can assure you that this is not a common problem at the resort. We do have a pest control program in place, however when a situation such as what you explained occurs, it gives us the opportunity to revisit our procedures and strengthen the entire program.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your dives and visit at our sister hotel. Lincoln, Chris and Louis G will be pleased when I share your kind reviews with them.

Thanks again for you review, we truly hope we get a chance to serving you again at Rendezvous.

Best Regards,

Yhasmine Remy-Hylton

Been meaning to write a review for some weeks. I travelled with my husband for 10 days early Feb with BA (very disappointing). The drive from the airport is a bit long but the driver very chatty about what we were passing and stopped for a photo opportunity ½ way. I would NOT recommend the heli transfer as you miss your first taste of the island.
Drive into the hotel was a bit disappointing – I was really worried about the location, but once inside that concern soon went. The welcome was a little bit lack lustre too. Greeting by numbers best described it but this was the one and only time we were made to feel less than honoured guests. (Shame it was the 1st impression though!)
Our room was a standard garden view – but the sea clearly visible. It was BEAUTIFUL and the best bed I have ever encountered in a hotel.
I won’t go into the detail others have but the beauty about this hotel really is the staff. Clavie –one of the entertainers took us on a bike ride and as we are not shoppers he gave us a great guided tour of Castries. Thanks!
What makes this hotel stand out is the way they put the little niggles right! This comes from the very top. When we had a small issue with the door of the room – it was put right very quickly with the Duty manager checking things were OK. As we had some considerable disruption to our afternoon we were offered complimentary spa treatments. Customer service really is at the heart of this resort.
The only disappointment was the sea. It was never clear and blue (as you want in the Caribbean) at the water’s edge. It was off shore – but the wind was a little high and it was churned up.
Special mention to the water sports guys and to the bar staff.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are great - only go for a sea front room if you are comfortable its on a public beach

Just arrived back after a 7 night stay at the Rendezvous with my new wife. A truly lovely relaxing experiance with very friendly staff. You must try Erics coconut cocktails at the beach bar amazing!
The beach front bar has the best view i have ever seen at any hotel and to watch the sun go down in the evening is a must. If I were to be picky i would only mention the trysting restaurant that seves excellent food but has completely outated decor, this restaurant should be modernized and take advantage of the sea views. apart from that the whole experiance made this the best holiday we have ever had and is an ideal place for couples to relax.Dont forget you can visit their sister hotel the Body which is a short cab drive away.

Good food, at buffet and Trystine restaurant, which has different menu and is waiter served.
Good grounds to walk round and beach to walk on. Staff are very nice and helpful. Clean everywhere, our Veranda room had, I think, been refurbished, handy for reception etc.

Room Tip: Unless you like sand everywhere, our Veranda room was good but the standard garden rooms are also go...

We returned to the UK yesterday after a blissful two week holiday in this superb resort. This was our 6th visit to the Rendezvous and it just gets better every time we come. For us it ticks all the boxes. We know what we are getting and keep coming back for more. The staff are wonderful. Of particular mention this time was Trevor who kept the drinks flowing around the activities pool and secret river with his wonderful service and cheery remarks "the pleasure's mine, all the time" and a "Schwarzenegger" like "I'll be back!" But all the staff are so friendly and helpful. They just cannot do enough for you. The food in the Trysting Place and buffet restaurant is very good. The accommodation is very comfortable. We stayed in one of the newly renovated Garden View rooms, which had a bath, shower, WC, massive double bed, refrigerator and a very effective air-conditioning system. The facilities are excellent. We particularly love the activity pool and secret river as well as the spa facilities. We also tried out the Champagne Bar several evenings. This was formerly the Piano Bar and was being renovated in 2011 when we last visited Rendezvous, following damage caused by Hurricane Thomas. This Champagne Bar is a really lovely, relaxing, cool (air-conditioned) place to chill out at the end of the day and Gilbert entertains you expertly with his piano playing skills. Rendezvous offers couples an ideal location to relax and spend quality time together. You can be as active or as lazy as you like here. A comprehensive activities programme is on offer but there is no pressure to participate. If you just want to eat, drink, sleep or sun bathe all day, you can. It's entirely your choice. Basically if our son had not discovered Rendezvous for his honeymoon in 2001 and passed on his recommendations to us, we might have wasted a lot of time and money, looking around the Caribbean to find an hotel as good as this. Now we know it's there, we would not consider going anywhere else as this is for us already perfection.

I do agree however with another recent reviewer's comments about the need for Rendezvous to enforce the dress codes more strictly. We ourselves witnessed Harry, manager of the Trysting Place having to send two male would-be diners off to change their shorts for long trousers. Frequently we saw men eating in the terrace dining area in the evening, frankly dressed like slobs!! Sleeveless shirts, shorts and sandals. Ok for the beach and maybe at lunchtime but not for eating dinner in the evening! These men and it is almost invariably men are letting themselves down and very often their own female partners, who have usually at least made an effort to look respectable. It really is not too much to ask these male diners to wear long trousers and a collared shirt at the appropriate times. Once you allow such standards to start slipping, you really are on the slippery slope. Anyway such basic ignorance as this is certainly not going to put us off returning hopefully for the 7th time to Rendezvous in 2014. We can hardly wait!!

Bryn and Diana K.

Room Tip: The renovated Garden View rooms are good value for money
