This Roman Catholic Church got renamed a few years ago and is now more popularly known as the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Although the foundation of the present structure was laid in 1894, the church was solemnly blessed by Archbishop Flood on May 11 1899. The Basilica dominates the landscape of the city of Castries, with it's main portals of entry for worship located on Micoud Street, next to the Derek Walcott Square, and is the largest Roman Catholic church in the Caribbean......paintings on the glass windows and walls of the church by a renowned local artist, Dunstan St Omer makes this amazing piece of architecture a must see !!
