Myself and my wife have just retruned from our honeymoon at the sandals halcyon and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We were initially put off by the negative reviews found on trip advisor but having seen for ourselves can honestly say that they are far from true.

There is no problem with the rooms / bathrooms / food / gardens / beach / sea / services / staff / beach vendors / locals.

We stayed for ten days and our only complaint was that the stay was too short and we were too lazy to go to the annual jazz festival (which in hindsight is pretty damn lazy!).

One word of warning is that our outward flight was delayed by 3+ hours and was via Trinidad rather than direct to St Lucia, this meant that we lost half a day and a night of our stay, which at the prices they charge was rather painful...However, these things are out of anyones control, we were given a free bottle of champagne on the flight to ease the pain although they didnt offer us this until approximately 6-7 hours into the flight!

The staff and the intimate atmosphere were what really helped to make this stay so special and we would both thoroughly recommend staying here if you are considering St Lucia. We did visit the other two resorts (regency and Grande) but found them impersonal, overcorwded and bordering tacky.

Special request to Rita, Agnes, Pamela, Kenneth, Roland, T, Santi, Daniel, Michael and of course Gregory who all made this stay one to remember.

You can do as much or as little as you want here, if you want to be left alone here you will be - simple.

If the world wasnt so big we would be returning to St Lucia next year!

Thoroughly recommend the scuba as well as taking some time out to interact with the local people as they are what makes the place so special.

Mr and Mrs G. 2006.

Just returned from a wonderful week at the Halcyon Sandals. After reading the reviews
we were totally confused on which of the three sandals to pick from. After reading so many we finally decided on the Grande, only to find it not available for the dates we wanted, so we settled on the Halcyon. We were glad we did. We visited the other resorts which is a very nice option, while the other two are very nice, we found the Halcyon smaller and as the reviews stated, the staff was wonderful. The grounds are simply amazing, we never tired of our walks through them. The rooms were not near as
bad as the reviews stated, a little small, but for the little time spent there, they are more than adequate. The only thing we missed from other resorts would have been a fridge for
bottled water and robes are a nice touch. The weather was truly amazing, a little hot for our liking, but we do have the best tans we have ever had. We have travelled quite a lot in the Carribean, and often found that it cooled off around 5:00, not so here, you could swim at 6 in the morning or at midnight and be quite comfortable. The reviews on the beach had us worried, but we quite enjoyed it. It did not seem like an ocean, but more like
the inland lakes we have here at home, no big waves, hard rippled sand on the bottom,
no strange things in water floating by, and so very warm, also we did not notice the salt as much as at other resorts. Our only complaint on the beach would be that you cannot walk very far in either direction along the beach, but this is true at all 3 sandals.

The food was very good at all the restaurants, only complaint was that we did not have time to experience them all! My husband loved Mario's so much that he insisted that we eat
there twice! The French was my favorite, I had the best meal I think that I have ever had in a resort ever! We only did the buffets for breakfast, and it was great. Never did any of the night time entertainment, as we find they are often the same at all resorts, so we can't
comment on that.

We did the helicopter transfer both ways from the airport to avoid the 1 1/2 hour shuttle which we heard from several other guests was awful. The helicopter took 11 minutes and was quite well run with luggage and transfers etc., well worth the money.

The water sports are great, we did the tubing at the Grande as we thought it was only offered there, only to find tubing at the Halcyon daily as well. The hobby cats were fun too! We planned on snorkelling, but thought it was too long of a trip. They have so much to offer, and the week went by way to fast.

We enjoyed watching the many daily weddings, I can't believe how popular it is to go there and get married. They seem to really know how to do it well. The photos they were taking were amazing. We even managed to schedule a sunset photo shoot for some
anniversary pictures. They really spent alot of time with us (too much for my groom of
20 years!) but I am happy to have the pictures.

Our only regret was leaving, we met so many wonderful people and were sad to go. We travel quite often, but never go back to the same place twice, no matter how wonderful,
as we like to experience new places. It was sad leaving, knowing we would not return.

It was our first ever trip, out of more than 12 that we felt great the whole time, no queasy
stomach, or anything. We did end up with some fly bites of some sort, however never did
see any flies. I think maybe they get in the room at night through the louvred slats in bathroom, that would be our only complaint of the whole trip.

If you are confused on the resorts, stay at the Halcyon, and just visit the others -
you can't go wrong!

After being informed by an ex travel agent to immediately change our booking due to the poor report she gave us of the Halcyon, you can imagine that the usual pre holiday anticipation was sadly lacking.

How wrong she was! We loved everything about the resort - the rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean, the grounds sumptious and whilst the sand is not the powdery white colour you may expect, this was only a slight niggle.

Being the smallest Sandals on the Island we felt that is was by far the friendliest. Whilst our vote went to Celia (Marios and Bayside restaurant) Agnes, Pamela, Lesley-Anne and Dean were all part of the friendliest staff we have ever met.

We visited the Regency and found it claustrophobic and not very friendly and although we could have holidayed at the Grande, we always felt as though we had come 'home' when arriving back at the Halcyon.

We are so pleased that we chose and stayed at the Halcyon and would definately visit again.

We stayed at the Halcyon for 4 nights and loved it. Our daughter was married at the Grande and we traveled over on the shuttle for the wedding and reception. The Grande was great, but we really enjoyed the Halcyon. It was more of a private villa, and the exotic plant life was fantastic. The beach was nice and the vendors didn't really bother us much. We kayaked and rode the water trike and had a really great time. We enjoyed the food at the Pier and always had breakfast early at the Bayside. The Grill near the beach was open for hamburgers, etc til about 2:00 am. which was nice also. All of the staff were friendly and accomodating.
Our last day we hired a guide ...ask one of the locals...for "Peter In Charge Tours". He gave us a good rate and took us to the Rum Factory, waterfalls, volcano, mudbaths, the Pitons, lunch in Soufrieres, snorkelling, and shopping at the market. It was an all day, very informative tour. Peter Louisy was an excellent guide and we felt like we got more than our $$ worth. We have never been that thrilled with "all Inclusive" especially the ones we have stayed at in Mexico....but this resort in St. Lucia was excellent. The food was sit down dining, not always a buffet and the people were friendly. This is one place we would love to return.

We stayed 7 days and visited the other Sandals Resorts on the island while on our visit,The Halcyon was definently the friendliest and the most intimate of all. Food was equal at all the resorts, but being that the Halcyon is the smallest, the staff was extremely friendly and ALWAYS remembered our names, lots of smiling faces, the other resorts did not seem as friendly and there wasn't many smiling faces. I truely believe that the staff at the Halcyon enjoyed their jobs.
Be sure to bring at least one set of nice clothes,I forgot to bring a pair of sandals and they gave me a little trouble the first night we were there,so I called the front desk and they PROMPTLY brought a meal of my choice to my room and apologized( I bought a pair the next day for 7.95).
The Grande was a beautiful resort with one of the best pools I ever seen, great beach with plenty of chairs, great views of Rodney Bay and the mountains,Butch really got it right on this place!
The Regency was a nice place,it is layed out different than the other resorts as it is built all along the coast,it was clean, and a bit too elegant for me,so I really didn't enjoy it as much as the other resorts. The other resorts seemed more fun.
My recommendation for anyone who is making plans, stay at the Halcyon and visit the others, must more personal service and much better staff.
I must mention Pam and Lisa at the beach grill, they are an asset to the resort, they offer great service with a smile.
The only negetive thing on the resort is the road noise, our villa was closest to the road and it did get annoying in the evenings while we tried to relax at the room.
And if your flying into the airport on the other side of the island the ride to the Halcyon is a rollercoaster ride,it's a beautiful island with lush vegetation and awesome views, but the ride did get my wife sick.

I must admit having read previous reviews about Halcyon was more than a little worried but I do wonder what some people's expectations are!! We travelled Virgin Atlantic (v. comfortable) and had a good flight. Yes the trip out to the Halcyon is a bit bumpy but you must remember you are in a foreign country - not on the M5. It was interesting to see a bit of the countryside before we arrived at our destination. The Halcyon is very slightly "dated" in some respects but boy do they make up for it with their wonderful staff and attitude! We stayed in the 700 block. It was fine - ok not a 5* room but how long do you intend staying in there when you go on holiday? It was perfectly adequate and for once we had a wonderfully comfortable big (and I mean big) bed! My husband is 6ft 4in and normally beds are a pain in the a**** with us on holiday but this was great. Yes the air con does make a bit of a noise - so what!! The paradise pool was great - get up early to get a sunbed though - everyone else has the same idea! Food we found excellent - loved the Italian restaurant in particular. I must admit I found the Pier restaurant a little over-rated but it was still ok. As far as entertainment is concerned - yes it is a bit tacky to some - karoake etc but you don't have to join in - nobody makes you feel you have to do anything. This was the great thing about the Halcyon - if you want to join in do, if you don't nobody bothers you!

All in all it was our first Caribbean trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go again!!
