This is a great place for couples if you are looking for a place that's a bit more quiet and relaxing. Great views, service, beaches, and food. Simply wonderful!

My husband and I earned our free week at Sandals and chose Halcyon. We also added two extra nights to give us more time to relax at the resort. It took us 15 years to get our free week and we chose St. Lucia because that is where we went on our first trip to Sandals although we stayed at La Toc back then which used to be called the Regency.

After a long day of traveling, we arrived at Sandals Halcyon and were met by the Head Butler within seconds! He took us right to our room and offered us champagne and went over all of the details of the room, the restaurants, activities, etc. One of our main Butlers, Willard arrived within minuted with our luggage and offered to unpack for us. The Butlers are very accomodating but unpacking and packing is something that I would rather do myself!

Our room number was 144 and I think it was the best room at the resort. It was a walkout room with a patio and had an amazing view of the ocean and the island across from the resort. It was also across from the wedding gazebo so we saw quite a few weddings while we were there. I believe all of the rooms at this resort are basically the same except for the location of the rooms. I do have to say that they were extremely clean. Housekeeping came everyday while we were at the pool or the beach and then again at night usually while we were at dinner.

There were two pools, the Sunset Pool which is where they have music, activities and pool volleyball everyday and the Paradise pool which is quiet and relaxing. Both pools have swim-up pool bars. They also have a beautiful beach! The water is not as clear as other resorts we have stayed at but it is still nice. There are vendors on the beach but if they come up to you, all you need to do is say no thank you and they leave you alone the rest of the week.

We arrived on a Friday and decided to go to Bayside for dinner and it happened to be Asian night. The food was excellent and the lo mein was delicious! Our Butlers made reservations for us at the different resorts and restaurants that took reservations so that we did not have to do it ourselves. Mario's which is the Italian restaurant was amazing! We could have just had the antipasta bar and the bread and been fine but the pasta was great too! They had other things on the menu but just that was enough for us. We went to the Pier and were seated at the window with a view of the ocean! If you like seafood, you will really enjoy your meal at the Pier! We had dinner at Gordon's which is free to Butler guests but other guests can pay $140 to have dinner there. Although our meal was fabulous, I would not pay the extra money to eat there. We went on a Sunday night and it is such a pretty and romantic setting but go any night but Sunday because there is a public park on the outskirts of Sandals and the locals go there on Sunday and blast their music which is fine but not when you are trying to enjoy a romantic meal.

Besides making dinner reservations, the Butlers book your tours, reserve a spot for you at the pool or beach and will bring you a cooler filled with whatever you would like to drink. They also brought us a tray of fruit and cheese everyday at 2:00 pm. One night we decided we didn't want to go out so they served us dinner on our patio! We could choose from the menu in our room or any of the menus from the restaurants at the resort.

All and all, the resort is smaller than the Grande or La Toc but it is beautiful because of the landscaping and the intimate setting. We also liked the Grande which is a little bigger but it was nice to come back to Halcyon. We did go to La Toc for dinner one night but found the resort size overwhelming and had to ask directions to everyplace we wanted to go. We went there for our honeymoon 15 years ago and didn't remember is being so big back then.

Overall, we had a wonderful vacation and would definitely visit Halcyon again!

We just returned from a week at Halcyon and hopefully my review will save you the disappointment we experienced. We've been to Sandals in Jamaica and had no real issues there. Travel to this place and you better be prepared to accept the worst service, food, and amenities. This is definitely not what we expect from a Sandals resort. The service was horrible to say the least. There was one exception and the young lady worked in the italian restaurant, other than that service was almost non-existent. Rooms are small and not updated, Cats roaming all around the grounds and in the open-air restaurants. One day a cat jumped upon the table to eat food left by the previous diners and the staff didn't care at all...my wife made it get down and go away. Birds always actually landing in serving spoons and eating the food. There were never enough clean towels at the pools, Ice Makers...there were none..when they had ice it was kept in blue coolers housed in wooden boxes in a couple of areas near the rooms. But ice was not always available. The food was second rate at best and that's giving it more credit than deserved. The local vendors heckle you from the beach every day all day and most of the night. One local actually has a small "store" right at the railing behind the main pool bar and he is always yelling at the guest. Want a lemon or lime in your dink?...Forget it...they have none and if you ask they'll look at you like your head is rotating. The walkways throughout the resort are in need of major improvements and repairs. The beach bar opens and closes at odd times and when it reopens at night around 10:30pm they do not serve any alcohol...so you can get a burger, hotdog, nachos, and wings but no beer to wash it down...that's just wrong.
We visited La Toc and Grande and both have better food and service than Halcyon. Halcyon is definitely more of a laid back tropical setting but the beauty of it fades when everything else is lacking. After seeing how Sandals now sells you a resort but delivers you a subpar motel we will be looking for alternatives. One last word....Be very aware that what you see on the Sandals website may not appear that way in reality!!

Just returned from a week at Halcyon and we are disappointed with our visit at this resort. The resort staff were not overly friendly, barely warm and not helpful. This excludes the housekeeping and groundskeeping staff who were friendly, warm and fun. We supposedly got a deal on an room upgrade that essential was a hotel room, nothing special since the shower nozzle fell off and remained that way our entire stay. The excursions with Rainforest Tours (tour guide Gary and driver Remy were the best) and ATV was great fun and with people NOT employed by Sandal's. We couldn't tell if the Halcyon employees were just not interested in making our visit pleasant or were just tired. Examples: We were about to leave on an excursion and asked the concierge for a bottle of water. She sent us to the front desk who had none and sent us to the Bayside restaurant, who said we don't have any, shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Second was after getting back from an excursion with damp clothes the Bayside said we needed towels before being seated. Absolutely understood...and no surprise there were no towels available, as it was most all the time. Yet another was we went to get ice a few times and there was none. Lastly, it was annoying to have vendors heckle you from the beach every day all day to the point we didn't want to walk by the beach but took the long way around.

The food was so/so but dinner at Pitons at the La Toc resort was wonderful, as was dinner at Grande at The Barefoot on the Beach. Also from the moment walking into both resorts the staff members were friendly, warm and helpful to us.

Lastly Sandal's uses extremely poetic license with their website because the photos of Halcyon appear nothing like the reality.

If you want to have a wonderful vacation spend your money wisely and go to The Excellence Riviera at Cancun.

my husband and i have been to many places around the world, usually when its my birthday and our wedding anniversary. the sandals experience was not what we thought it would be. we informed sandals, before we arrived and on arrival, about our wedding anniversary, but no effort was made by them. the staff were very helpful. it seems all the management are interested in are return holiday makers and wedding parties. they pester you about booking your next holiday with them, which we did not like. it was very hard to sleep on a night, due to insect noise. the rooms were nothing special, but clean. beware of tiled floors, very slippery when wet. i had a fall in our room which had been washed, no warning sign. this also happened to one of our neighbours. the beach was not white, like the photos online and full of seaweed. in the bayside restaraunt cats came in, birds kept flying in and eating of the serving spoons, and a couple of times there were flys in food that was not covered. a few times in a morning a member of staff was cleaning the pool tiles with a product that was leaving a film on the water. we will not return to a sandals resort.
