“London/New York price - Kabul food quality”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2011

We read some reviews which advised us that a meal was about £20 and the food was exceptional. I had a lobster soup, followed by steal and prawns, surf and turf. My wife had coquilles st Jacques and jumbo pawns. Whilst the setting and atmosphere are pleasant,
The food is terribly ordinary and overpriced. We had half a bottle of wine each, and the bill was £45 each. There were 4 of us at the table and we all thought this restaurant was style over substance.

“Reliable and consistant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2011

Oh what a breath of fresh air to go to a restaurant in St. Lucia and the service is prompt and the food consistantly good. That is a rare thing.
We go to the Coal Pot every Dec. 19 for our wedding aniversary. It is such a romantic spot beside the waters edge. We also had our wedding dinner there 4 years ago.
Although the menu never changes there is always plenty to chose from. I always order the Coquille St. Jacues and hubby orders the stuffed crab back. Sooo good. I ordered the shrimp this time and I can honestly say they were the best shrimp I have ever tasted and I eat a lot of shrimp. What made them so tasty was they were charred with a crispness on the outside and yet were so tender on the inside. Something I could never do at home. They also put a lot of effort into the side dishes that come with the meal.
A bigger sign would be a plus as we can never find it on the first shot! Year after year.
I think it is a great value considering you are for sure going to get a good meal. I don't mind paying for that.

“Excellent start, mediocre finish”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2010

We woke up to a rainy day and decided to get a cab from Discovery Marigot Bay to eat lunch here. Reviews were solid and we needed a change of scene. LIving in Chicago we have some of the best french restaurants in the country. According to the reviews, the 3 generation restaurant was one of the best in St Lucia. Our starters - escargot and french onion soup - were among the best we've ever had, we devoured them before we knew it. Entrees are hard to gauge, having ordered a more local dish. The saltfish was brutal, without question the "fishiest" seafood we had ever eaten. The red snapper with coconut curry was a little overpowering, the coconut got lost. Service was good, but definitely not friendly. This was overall nothing more than a decent meal. I reccomend checking it out, given our experience with the starters, (and we could have just ordered the wrong things for entree).
