Good trip worth a visit. Trip offers excellent overview of the Rain forest. It has some unusual birds and interesting tropical trees. The cable car takes about an hour to getto the top. The view spectacular. Every car has a official guide. Our guide was very good and knowledgable. Take a Camera. locals are fantastic, helpful, kind and very understanding. We pre booked this trip before we left UK and booking was done through BA. But it did not mention anything about picking arrangements from our resort to the Rain forest. And BA rep was totally unhelpful. The Hotel called someone and we had to extra for the Taxi/ Mini bus we shared. Drive there was wonderful that is if you like up/down and hilly roads. But it was very safe. Well worth a visit

We decided to do this at the last minute because our three teens were off doing the Zip Lining in the rain forest. We took a private taxi from the cruise ship terminal (about $75 return for two) to the rain forest and the sights are well worth it alone. The drive took about 45 minutes and the roads are very hilly and winding but the views are fantastic.
Once at the rain forest sky ride it was very simple to get tickets ($35 each) and join our tour guide and the rest of the party which numbered 7 in total incl the guide. The sky ride is like a ski lift but larger to seat about 8 people and is carried by cable through the rain forest. The guide went to great lengths to explain all about the flora and fauna, including the many types of trees, vines, flowers as well as animals such as humming birds.
The ride itself took about an hour and you reach the highest point on the island with spectacular views all around including Port Castries and our cruise ship, Azura. Make sure you take your camera. Included in the tour is a pre amble by the guide and an optional 15 minute walk into the rain forest too. Also included in the price is a glass of rum punch.
There are very good facilities at the Sky Ride base, including washrooms, a cafe, a shop and lockers to store valuables.
Our taxi driver waited for us and then drove us back to the cruise terminal, all safe and sound. The drivers in the Caribbean seem to drive slowly but quite erratically and use their horns a lot (like the Italians) to warn other drivers and pedestrians and I think it can be alarming at first.
Don't let that put you off, go see the rain forest on the Sky Ride or do it via the Zip Line like our teens did.

Just wanted to let people know that St. Lucia is absolutely beautiful but the drive (or ride) to these locations can be a bit much. I am not one who usually gets car sick but the winding roads with many hills along the way was a combination that my stomach could not take. I traveled from the pier to the rain forest and around the island - a trip that took slightly over 4 hours. I spent nearly 3 hours of that feeling nauseous.

On top of that, the driving there is much more go with the flow than in the States. Drivers seem to drive where ever they want and then, at the last moment, duck out of the way of oncoming traffic. My next visit to St. Lucia will be spent on a beach.

We opted to go with a taxi driver in St Lucia instead of booking a tour with Carnival. OMG! Our driver did take us to Sulphur Springs and the Rain Forest, and the Pitons, however, we thought we were going to die. This was supposed to be a 3.5 -4 hour tour. Took us on a 5.5 hour suicide mission. After 3 hours, my husband took off his seatbelt in the front seat. Said he didn't want to lie in the road suffering, he wanted to die quick. We were with a couple from Maine. Her and I both screamed in the back at one point. My nerves were shot. I wanted to get out of the vehicle. Another one would come by right? Thank god they served beer at our stops. Lord knows we all needed a drink. Island was so very beautiful! If i we were going to die that day, it was a good place to be. From our experience, book a tour of the island thru your cruise ship. DO NOT go with the taxi drivers. Saddened that our driver gave us no history of the island. Said maybe 30 words the whole time. The sites we did see, were wonderful from afar. Would have been great to get history and understand the island. Disappointed with the tour but not with the island. We were also not notified of being charged to get into the springs, etc until we got to them. Our fellow tourists said they never carry much money. Glad we all had enough to see the sites.

We did the tranopy tour which is hiking zip lining and gondola ride thru rain forest adventures which was totally amazing. Only thing to know is that this tour group has a problem picking people up as scheduled. After waiting five tenon minutes we called and they could not find our reservation at first eventually they called back and came for us. We meet someone else they did not pick up day before. I think problem is main office is in Miami. If possible try to find a local number to confirm your pickup.
