Owner description: A yachtsman's haven, this picturesque bay has been used for background shots in many Hollywood films such as Dr. Doolittle and Fire Power.

The bay sits in the middle of forest and mountain and presents the feeling of really being away from it all - the marina with ever-present yachts and smaller sailing boats adds to the charm.

like: area when accessing by boat is great. diner possibilties also.
dislike: no clean water in the bay and only a tiny beach (not to clean) to hang out (no shade) with a small acess to open sea. you have to be brought by boat as you can not just walk over if you feel like it.

I don't know what should be the reason to go to this beach! This is not really a beach in my opinion - maybe for cruise ship tourists. You have to pay 2 USD for the boat which takes you to the island and return which seems not that much. But the only thing you can do there is to have lunch or dinner at the famous Doolittle Bar and Restaurant or - as in our case - wait to leave.

We are staying in a self-catering cottage on the north side of the bay with a lovely sea view and a small pool. We combined this with a couple of days on a yacht charter so we got lots of sea and sun on our floating place and reasonable comfort on land. This was on a comfortable but slightly worn out yacht with a very helpful local skipper. Overall its quite well organised but not, thankfully, a 'Resort' with the hokum attached. Shopping is a bit of a pain, because it involves a ferry trip, and the supermarket is not super-well stocked. (Well its here, not London...). The beach is not wonderful. There are two restaurants on this side - The Rainforest Hideaway and Dolittles. The former is lovely but costly, the latter...well sometimes very nice but the place is understaffed and the service slow and we had some suspect fish which we refused to pay for. The boss doesn't seem to care about this and sits at the bar mumbling into his beer, although his staff are good and work hard.

It was a picturesque setting but people were out to get your money and a bit mercenary. Unlike other pars of the Caribbean we visited.
