Drive down from the north for the afternoon. Took the free ferry over and grabbed a pair of beach chairs next to Dolittle's. The waitress come out but we waited until later to order drinks. Spent a wonderful lazy afternoon sunning and swimming and watching the boats come and go. Roger the coconut man / palm weaver stopped by several times, but we politely turned him down. Margarita wasn't so great, but the mango daiquiri was delicious. A nice place to hang out and enjoy a Caribbean afternoon.

I'm sure some people love it, but this was way to yachty for me. Every building seemed brand new and Starbucks like.

After the hustle and bustle of Castries, Rodney Bay, etc., Marigot Bay is the perfect antidote. Heck, you have to take a boat across the bay (a delightful, 4-minute shuttle) to get to the beach, and 2 of the best restaurants - Doolittle's and Rainforest Hideaway. Check-out the mega-yachts at the Marina, where you can also read your e-mails at the internet cafe, and buy some Monte Cristos at the Carib shop humidor. Discovery at Marigot Bay is, perhaps, the largest of the resorts in the area, but I opted for a perfect getaway up on the ridge - Nature's Paradise (see my video on this great b&b). Plan on having some great seafood (and live music, on certain nights) at Chateau Mygo.

We visited St. Lucia from Nov.1-8th, 2001. It took one day
for me to fall totally and utterly in love with the place. The entire island is beautiful, exciting, and friendly. Marigot Bay in particular seemed to be a quiet, friendly and extremely lovely place to stay. My alarm clock was a
cow singing "Moooo" in the morning. The people that own the
business's there are very accomodating, and friendly. The views of the Marigot Bay are breathtaking, and the water is a million shades of blue. The sailing around the island was superb, and there is so much to see and do, you need a month!!! (or a lifetime..) Be sure to visit the restaurants that overlook the baym they are all unique in their own way. Some are quiet, some are rowdier. There is something to suit all tastes!

Snorkeling in the area is wonderful, and next time plan to try a dive! I found this place laid back and mellow. It is far enough from town that it is quiet, and close enough that when you are ready for some partying and some shopping, it is convenient! Taxi's are abundant and helpful, and most drivers are very accomodating to your needs.

I found the locals very sweet and helpful. They do try to sell their wares, but hey....it is their living, and I actually found it rather endearing. They all seemed to be genuinely interested in showing you a good time!

Any ?'s, feel free to ask...I will be honest.
