“delicious afternoon”
Reviewed March 15, 2009

My husband and I were staying at another hotel but wanted to spend an entire afternoon at La Sereno Beach Hotel. We had an elegant lunch, outside, with direct view of the ocean and the balmy winds. It was divine, and so very relaxing. It is true that there is alot of turtle grass as you enter the water, but the water is placid and the perfect temperature. And after a few feet, the water is crystal clear.
You will not be disappointed with an afternoon at La Sereno!

We had never been to St. Barth's before, and we had initially booked a villa for about 10 days. When we arrived at said villa, it was ringed by construction sites with earthmoving equipment (not disclosed by Sotheby's). Needless to say, this was not going to work for us - it was the first vacation in well over a year and we were tired.

In need of immediate lodging, my husband flipped the hotel book open and saw a photo of Le Sereno - it was perfect for what we thought was just one night. We called and asked if they had a room if we came now for just one night. They said they had a top of the line room, but considering the dire nature of our situation, they offered it to us at their lowest rate.

We checked in, and stayed for 10 days! The staff of Le Sereno is the ultimate example of hospitality. They welcomed us in and showed us our room and then led us to the restaurant (gorgeous and sleek and comfortable) and immediate got us drinks and a plate of proscuitto.

The woman at the front desk, Sylvie, was the best illustration of service I have yet to encounter at any French property. Some travelers may be used to the phrase "I am sorry, it is not possible" as a typical refrain made by French managers in response to American demands, reasonable or otherwise. Not so here. Sylvie delicately inquired as to how long we were staying, and if we needed any assistance with the Villa Rental company. She explained that the hotel had a relationship with them. With that, she got on the phone to the company and told them that they had either give us a full refund, or pay for our entire vacation stay, wherever we ended up. With that, the company buckled and gave us some of our money back.

Sylvie at that point checked with her manager, and graciously extended the same low rate for the same exquisite room for all 10 days of our vacation.

From that point on, our vacation was one of the best we have ever had. The staff are pleasant and efficient and friendly, the food just terrific for all meals and the grounds some of the most beautiful on the island. The pool is lovely with the perfect angle for sun and the beach and harbor great for swimming.

We would recommend this so very much, especially for people looking to recharge their batteries - it is without equal.

We have just returned from a 4 day stay at Le Sereno. We had the Grand Suite Plage, Room No.2. Our stay was simple perfect because the hotel has an excelent location, service and size. Our room was incerdible with a marvelous king size bed, flat screen TV, Ipod dock station, free Wifi, deck overloking the sea, jacuzzi, air condtioning, Inn summary everything we needed.
Service given by young french people but speak also English and Spanish. Food is delicious, we have breakfast every day and qe have included a dinner that was also very good. Pool has enough space for you to relax without any incovinience.
We had the oportunity to know the owners and receive from them an unnforgetable attention and the tips necesary to have a perfect vacation.
The service offered by the hotel in the Saint Maarten airport is a plus.
We defintely will come back !!!

We have stayed almost everywhere on this fabulous island, and this is our all time favorite. our suite was gorgeous overlooking Grand cul de Sac. The furnishings by Chrstian Liagre were beautiful. We didn't have lunch or dinner there but breakfast was very nice. The service was exeptional. The only problems were minor and mechanical, the ipod docking station and DVD player didn't work well and the a/c was not the best. St. BArths is alway expensive but with the exchange rate now it is even more so. It was a great birthday and we will return to the Sereno.

Le Senero is the most amazing boutique hotel in the French West Indies. The Staff are most friendly - nothing is too much trouble and yet they give you space. The style of the hotel is perfectly simple for the stunning surroundings, yet luxurious in quality. Fine dining indeed - the chef will show you how to prepare his special dish Bouillabaise.

My husband and I will definately return to this heaven on earth!

My husband and I recently spent four nights at Le Sereno. We had a Grande Suite Plage, which was incredibly roomy AND romantic with a king size bed, generous step-down seating area and deck. Our deck overlooked the lagoon ... it had two comfortable lounges and was very private with both partitions and dense foliage separating us from the decks on either side. We were visited daily by the resident chickens ... it was nice to see them on our deck instead of on our dinner plate! The restaurant, where we had both breakfast every day and dinner two nights, is exceptional -- the food is fresh and tasty and beautifully presented. The chef also served an amuse bouche before dinner. One night it was a sea scallop ... the other it was smoked tuna. Delicious! The beach and pool areas are both roomy enough for a resort with only 37 rooms, and had an ample number of double and single lounges. The water was not especially tempting; there were a lot of underwater plants underfoot, albeit pretty ones. What makes Le Sereno truly special is the staff. From the drivers to the reception desk to the wait staff to the beach attendant to housekeeping, ALL are wonderful! Another special service provided by the hotel is meet and greet at the St. Maarten airport. As we were waiting in a VERY long line at Customs, we heard our names being called. Ashton whisked us off the line and facilitated the process to connect to Winair -- great! St. Barths is truly a treat ... and Le Sereno was the perfect place to enjoy it!
