“An amazing hotel in an amazing island”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

After traveling extensively from Argentina, I finally got to St Barts and had the pleasure to stay in Le Sereno. Actually I am writing this review from my room, a very chic Christian Liaigre designed room overlooking the ocean. Still looking very good after the renovations years back, the setting and the extremely professional staff make you feel in Paradise. Breakfast in really good, the pool is fantastic for hanging out in the mornings before going to the beach. The restaurant is very quiet but I had dinner si far twice there and it is a very pleasant experience. The waiters are young but very professional, quite a surprise for a tiny island like St Barts.
Room number 1 is where I am, and it is quiet and perfect! There is a patio in the front with a connection to the bathroom, and two comfortable chaise longues are ideal to relax after a bath.
There is also a covered porch overlooking the ocean with a table and chairs and a deep sofa to relax and stare at the ocean.

Room Tip: Room 1 is perfect and quiet.

If the island of St. Barths isn't obscure enough, fly in and settle down at Le Sereno, which is almost as out of the way as the island. You need a car for your visits into Gustavia, and to St. Jean Bay, but Le Sereno offers very nice accomodations and the food is very good. The beach here is narrow, and the pool area small and quiet, but also easier to make friends. It's a bit of a bargain on an otherwise pricey island. If you're here to relax, it's perfect.

Located on the quiet Cul de Sac, the beautiful waterfront location is marred by cloudy water. They do groom the narrow beach daily to keep the sand lovely. Our room was next to the delivery driveway and the bathroom windows cannot be closed. So beginning as early as 7 am we were serenaded by noisy deliveries and recycling trucks. Insist on a room number higher than 26 unless you enjoy the sound of glass bottles breaking and truck brakes squealing. Breakfast was included in the room rate and it was straightforward: bread basket, juice, coffee, eggs prepared to order, fruit plate and homemade yogurt if requested. Due to the distance to other dining options, we ate lunch once and dinner twice at the hotel. Way over-priced and hardly average food. (There is a new chef.) A bottle of water is 9 euros at any mealtime. Service was rather slow. Upon arrival each room has a small refrigerator stocked with some beverages which are included in the room rate, if you request restocking, it is additional. When mentioning the restaurant to the locals, they would shake their heads and say how expensive it was. Other areas needing attention: there is no information in the room regarding the phone (like how to contact reception), room service is mentioned on the website but no menu was available. There is a beach shack bar/restaurant next door to the hotel which does a good job, but they are open for breakfast and lunch only. (Make a reservation!) Two enjoyable dining experiences: Eddy's (lovely outdoor park setting) and Cote Port (harborside) which are both in Gustavia. Housekeeping did a consistent job of attending to the room. I just expected more for the price.

Room Tip: Insist on room number higher than 26.

My husband and I recently spent 6 nights on St. Barths while celebrating our honeymoon. We wanted a relaxing and private getaway without the hustle and bustle of a large resort. Le Sereno was absolutely the perfect fit for us! We received a bottle of champagne upon arrival, a rental car for the duration of our stay, and a couples massage at the spa as a part of the honeymoon package. The staff was always very friendly and accommodating. They were gracious enough to supply us with an I PAD to use during our stay, which we greatly appreciated along with the WiFi! We looked forward to our delicious breakfast each morning at Le Restaurant des Pêcheurs. I miss the bread basket! We are so lucky to have spent this special time at Le Sereno! Can't wait to visit again for our 1 year anniversary!

We spent 7 nights at this hotel in January after a hectic week in New York. We had a La Plage on the lagoon side, Room 27. It was wonderful, spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had a sweeping view over the bay and it was very private. The pool area is usually very quiet and relaxing the pool staff (young men) are very friendly attentive and seem happy to oblige.

Frankly I expected a snobby attitude from the staff. Not so, they we young friendly and a lot of fun. Breakfast at the main restaurant (les pecheurs) was terrific and included in your room price. I was disappointed with lunch and dinner there, which we tried twice during our stay. The daily baked fish special was simply terrible. This is not really important as there are just so many wonderful other places to eat on this island. We found Eden Rock, Niki Beach and Do Brazil fantastic food at reasonable prices, not to mention a lot of fun (it was Russian New Year). We also enjoyed lunch at Le Guanhani next door, the L'angouste pasta was terrific.

Getting a car is a must, a convertible is the best idea. We liked watching the planes arrive at the airport, and driving around to different hotels for cocktails and enjoying the many different view all over this wonderful island. It seems everywhere is very friendly an accommodating. Make sure you take umbrellas if going to a beach, there is no shade and the sun really can burn.

Grab some champagne, pate cheeses etc from a local store in Gustavia and save a bundle. Prices are much cheaper than Australia.

I would stay at Le Sereno again. Ask for a La Plage level room on the Lagoon side, room 26 and up.

Bon Journee

Room Tip: La Plage rooms 26 and up on the Lagoon side.

As I write this review I am sitting on my patio at Le Sereno. From our greeting by the hotel driver at the airport, to our welcoming by Nellie, the hotel's director of guest relations and the subsequent welcoming by Sandrine and Christian Langlade, the new managers of the hotel, our experience was and is exceptional. We were made to feel at home and welcome. It seems everyone at the hotel speaks English (of course, knowlege of a little French helps), and the staff never responds with " No, I can't do that.". The staff is helpful, the rooms are lovely, the grounds immaculate. The restaurant "Le Pechure" serves perhaps the best fish on the island in a beautiful setting. It's manager, Jean-Pierre Guiroux is the consummate restaurateur, professional, warm, and efficient. This is, in my opinion, one of the top 2 or 3 restaurants on St. Barth.

In short, my wife and I have never had a better island vacation than at Le Sereno.

My wife and I spent two days three nights on St. Barths. We had been at the very large Viceroy on Anguilla for 6 nights prior. This resort was a nice getaway from the larger resort. The Lobby is simple and outdoors. Each room has it's own seperate entrance and either beach view or small garden. The bathrooms are kinda indoor / outdoor and the shower was awesome. The beach is very pretty, but small in this area. We at at the resturant for lunch and it was very expensive and not that great. We enjoyed the free breakfast and ate in the resturant once and room service the other days. Best was the free transport to and from the airport. The drivers were great and told us all about the island. Also, rent a car from the resort. It was easy and the pull the car around for you.

There is a small beach bar right next door and that was more reasonable for drinks and a real casual local.

Room Tip: The room we were in had the staff right behind it and it was noisy in the mornings. Ask for one wh...
