Description: The restaurant serves a casually elegant Mediterranean Brasserie, taking advantage of the bounty of the Caribbean Sea while incorporating an Italian accent due to the closeness with its sister property in Lake Como and the nationality of the chef and owners. At the helm of Restaurant Le Sereno, Chef Alex Simone will deliver simple and beautifully presented dining experiences. Chef's classic Mediterranean dishes will be elevated with the freshest ingredients and fit perfectly with the restaurant's beachfront setting, including dishes like Steak Tartare and Vitel Toné. The menu will highlight an array of vibrant flavors in dishes like the Poisson en Croute de Sel (fish baked in salt-crust with Lake Como aromatic herbs) and Herb-Crusted Sea Scallops with Saffron. The Italian accent will be seen and tasted throughout the menu, most notably in the restaurant's signature Gnocchi Le Sereno, traditional of Lake Como and made from unprocessed buckwheat flour with a tomato-sage sauce, as sage is the typical aromatic herb of the lake and Chef Simone's famous Lobster Linguine from Il Baretto, here made with fresh local spiny lobster that arrives daily to Le Sereno's private beach.

“Overpriced lobster!”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

We arrived in the early evening looking forward to a good meal since we had heard good things about the seafood in this restaurant, Unfortunately, we were very disappointes by our experience. The only fresh fish they had could not be ordered by one person, but had to be shared by two. This was an inconvinience since I wanted fish and my husbans wanted lobster......My husband got to choose his fresh lobster from the tank and although it was well cooked and nicely presented it was not anything extraordinary to justify the extremely high charge for this dish. In our opinion overpriced. (And we have had many lobsters in many parts of the world....)The restaurants did not have much ambiance although service was attentive. The most expensive meal of our trip and the most disappointing.

“food was very dissapointing”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

our first night in St Barts we had dinner here. It was very disappointing.
plate presentation is nice but the food was not up to par. At times it was not even warm.
Very pricey. The service was average and not that knowledgable.
Took forever for the waiter to bring the check...so I had to find him and sign.

“Great view”
Reviewed April 2, 2013 via mobile

The view and setting are lovely and what you expect on an island . The food and service are over rated and not commiserate with the price.

“Great lunch”
Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

We had a great lunch in this beautiful restaurant by the sea. Highly recommend the local red snapper cooked in salt crust. It was succulent and delicious. Staff was friendly and efficient.

“6 Months Later...”
Reviewed November 23, 2012 via mobile

To answer my own question, while the menu is still very interesting, the wait is interminable! 1hour to place the order, another to be served. No wonder so few of the guests dine there, the service is on par with Le Guiac. Jean-George's at the Eden Rock and the Taiwana at Anse Flamands have my vote until this improves.
