This hotel is really wonderful. The beach is private, water is calm and absolutely beautiful! The breakfast is delicious and the restaurants are great. Staff is very accommodating and they are friendly. Service on the beach is excellent. It is expensive, but everything on St Barths is.

We stayed three times at Eden Rock, always in the same type of room, the Heavenly Beach House Ixora, with two bedrooms. It is perfect for a small family with two children, the room is very confortable, the service and the breakfast are good and the location is perfect. The beach in front of our room is fantastic, and the beach in the other side of the hotel, in front of Nikki Beach Club, is also very nice. The rent of a small car is included in the price of the hotel, and is very useful to go to other beaches or to Gustavia, just 10 minutes away. The restaurant was better when Jean-Claude Dufour was the chef but is still good and you also have the choice to eat at Nikki Beach or La Plage Restaurant, from walking distance.I definitely recommend the Eden Rock.

Having been to St. Bart's two times, I would stay nowhere else by the Eden Rock hotel.

Two minutes from the airport, great mostly private beach, terrific rooms.

Yes, it is one of the most expensive hotels on the island, but worth every dollar. Great restaurants, great rooms. If you can afford it, try a rock suite....one of the seven suites actually built on the rock.

Even if you stay elsewhere, go one night for dinner....great food...great atmosphere.

Room Tip: Go for the Rock Suites....amazing rooms...amazing views.

Very romantic place and very well located. The hotel is close to all we wished to know, but at the time peacefulness. Very nice room and a very nice bathroom, made around the rock that takes us to feel in heaven. The breakfast is very assorted and delightful in front of the sea. I deeply recommend it.

Room Tip: I stayed in a room in a very private beach, with only 3 rooms. It was great!

Just returned from Eden Rock and it was pretty much as I expected. I expected it to be expensive and it was - I'm not sure why there are complaints from travelers on this site related to tipping and expenses. If you go to St. Barths, you should understand that it will not be cheap. In addition, the staff there are very courteous and people should keep in mind that tips are likely most of their income.

Anyway, we ate at both restaurants and we found them both to be quite good. I had the tenderloin for lunch at the Sand Bar and some lamb at On the Rocks - both were quite tasty. The breakfast buffet was also well done - a wide variety of fruits, grains, breads, yogurts, etc. as well as the traditional scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken sausage, ham, etc.

Our room (Corail) was nicely appointed, although a bit on the small side. Patio was nice and the view was bascially of Nikki Beach, which was O.K. Internet access was flawless - no problems at all. There is a refrigerator that actually had some extra space in it, so we were able to store some of the items (soda, beer, extra water, etc.) that we purchased at the Super Market across from the airport. Housekeeping came twice a day and was very friendly (when we saw them - they usually kept out of sight).

The beach was nice, although the water, while blue, was not all that clear (I think due to some churned up sand). You could not see the bottom. Service was excellent - the staff were attentive and hotel guests can reserve chairs and an umbrella at any time. A better beach is Saline beach - very long, beautiful water, not very many people. However, if it is windy, you should not go as the sand blows quite a bit and can actually be a little painful. It's probably a 10 minute drive if you know where you are going.

The car that was included ended up being a Hyundai (not a Mini, which is what I was expecting - a bit disappointing). Not a bad little car, but only a 1.2 liter engine - with the air on full blast, this vehicle struggled a bit on some of the steeper roads, but ultimately made it to the top.

One restaurant you should visit that is within walking distance is The Hideaway. You can read the reviews elsewhere on the internet and they are all accurate - inexpensive (relatively speaking), nice atmosphere, great service and good food. Also, keep in mind that you will generally not receive your bill unless you ask for it - that is a common practice across the island (and elsewhere).

The only thing I would like to see at this hotel is a large pool - not sure they have the space for it, unfortunately. I know some individual rooms have pools, but since I did not make a specific request, I ended up in one that did not. Live and learn.

Overall, a very good experience.

Oh, and one other thing - we took The Great Bay Express from Phillipsburg and the ride was absolutely hellacious. I actually thought were going to capsize. Take the Voyager if you can - much nicer, newer and due to it's hull construction (cat), much more stable. It leaves from Oyster Pond, which might be inconvenient, but in actuality it's only 15 minutes from Phillipsburg
