“Surprisingly Good In An Odd Location”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

Le Carre D'Or is a sidewalk restaurant that's really not on a sidewalk. It is, instead, tucked down a walkway located at the entrance to a high-end shopping area in downtown Gustavia.

HINT: Don't be put-off by the restaurant's somewhat odd location. We had a terrific meal and were not bothered by "no views".

Frankly, when we first walked past - I was put-off by the location, finding it unattractive and uninteresting. But my wife liked the menu and we went in. We were quickly seated outside - there's no other option but "outside". We ordered a lovely bottle of Cote Du Rhone Grand Cru red and we each ordered the salmon special. I can't begin to describe how it was prepared because, well, I don't know! There were so many different fragrances and spices that no single one asserted itself. The effect was a wonderful melange of taste and smell.

I eat salmon regularly and this is one of the best I've had. I finished with a tasty peanut butter baked confection. Excellent!

“Excellent restaurant and reasonably priced for Gustavia”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

We were in St. Barth's for the past two weeks and visited this restaurant twice last week. It was the only restaurant we visited more than once and it worth it. The outdoor ambiance is wonderful and the Euro-Chill covers of the Rolling Stones were frequent and brought a smile to our face. One surprise is how generous they are with the post-dinner shots of vanilla spiced rum.

You can't go wrong with any of the fish entrees.

“A Wonderful Gem in Gustavia”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

We tried breakfast, lunch and dinner, and we've never been disappointed. Try the leek salad in lady in red sauce, it is delicious! For appetizer, the shrimp cocktail is our favorite and for entree, the fish is always a good choice. This is also a place to drink before embarking on a shopping spree for Hermes and Cartier is on the square and all the high-end boutiques are around the corner. The place is chic, the price is reasonable, and the service is superb.

“A gem among Gustavia”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

We stumbled upon this restaurant after mindless wondering throughout Gustavia in the evening, we were mesmerized by the ambiance and decided to come back on our last day before heading out to the airport. We recommend the sliders, and any of their superb cocktails to go along. The prices are fair and the location makes Le Carre one of the best restaurant on the island. We had a wonderful experience!

Wonderful café all'apperto in front of the Gustavia marina, very chic. Breakfast, brunch or drinks surrounded by chic stores, chic galleries and chic locals. Epitome of island chic and Caribbean elegance. Good food.
