My husband, daughters (14&11) and I spent October half term at CM Les Boucaniers. We had a terrific time. The site is beautiful, it's a classic Club Med with huge buffets, tons of sports, entertainment, tranquility etc. We particularly enjoyed the Chef & His GO Team. Water sports, Land sports etc - they were awesome. Do take insect repellent. Unlike most clubs the reception, boutique, bar staff etc were not GOs but locals. They were perfectly perfunctory and a few were good but I wouldn't say they had 'la pêche' or were desperately eager to please. The very small town of St Anne is a 15 min stroll away so one can buy sundries if caught out but the offering is obviously quite limited. The rooms are of good size and unlike the photos I saw on TripADvisor. They are well maintained, very well serviced and have a fridge and kettle. Thanks to all the GO's of Les Boucaniers.

My family and I have just returned from a wonderful 10 day holiday at Club Med Les Boucaniers, Martinique. We have enjoyed many CM holidays in the past decade and this club certainly did not disappoint. A beautiful tropical paradise setting, wonderfully warm with plenty to keep you entertained around the clock. Sure there was some rain showers and one day of heavy rain but it's this that keeps the Caribbean so green, lush and perfect. Most of the time the sun shone brightly! A wide range of water sports are included in the all inclusive package and my daughters, aged 14 and 11 particularly enjoyed the water-ski, wake-boarding and kayaking. Special thanks to the GO ski team who were kind and so patient with beginners. The food was mostly buffet style but very fresh with plenty of choice. As all 'Club Medders' know the nightlife is great fun if you choose to embrace it. We loved the pool and beach parties and particularly enjoyed the Pocahontas show. My advice, throw yourself in fully and leave your British reserve at home! Special thanks to Chef de village Pierre Jean who runs a tight ship and is involved in everything from the shows to the foam party; water ski coach, Romain, whom my daughters loved; Victor, a warm and friendly host and to Diane, who danced her socks off every night after keeping everyone fit during the day. Absolute top marks to Syesi who was a complete dynamo, a model GO and courageously performed Imany's ballad 'Don't be so shy' at the cabaret show. Beat that if you can! Looking forward to returning next year.

Two prior Club Med vacations at Turks and Caicos. Hurricane destroyed that so we booked Martinique. Not as many GOs and most did not know our name. Didn't seem to have as many activities. No "off main restaurant and pool bar" site with available afternoon food between main meals. Disappointed no Hobie Cat or other sailing and only minimal Crazy Signs. Seemed to have fewer organized activities and these were not well posted. SCUBA diving was excellent--visibility OK, but not excellent. Good dancing lessons. Food was better than T&C. Not speaking French was a bit of an issue occasionally, but almost every one was understanding and helpful, and--hey--that's part of the fun. As usual, met some very interesting and personable people you would never otherwise meet. Overall, great vacation and would recommend. Weather was the usual tropical Caribbean--hot and sunny during the day; rained one night and once briefly in late afternoon.Would, however, go back to T&C or try another Club Med location

We were originally booked to go to Club Med Turks & Caicos in mid September for our honeymoon. Hurricane Irma meant we had to change our plans at the last minute and included in the options suggested by our travel agent was Club Med Buccaneer's Creek in Martinique. I looked at the reviews on this site and had some reservations. The last thing I wanted on a honeymoon was to be confronted with language problems and the possibility of that world famous Parisian type rudeness. I needn't have worried. The suggestion in some other reviews that being proficient in French is essential is, quite frankly, nonsense.

Martinique is a French Island and the language at the resort is of course French. However, almost all of the staff speak English and the ones that didn't were more than happy to try to make sense of our pigeon French. The bar staff were particularly excellent at doing so. As far as all of the entertainment was concerned, the theatre shows were in the international language of musical theatre and with all of the entertainment, where English translations were required, they were given. For those with reservations do not allow the language to put you off. It did not detract one bit from our wonderful holiday.

Upon arrival at the resort we were greeted by a couple of the GO’s including Victor Caymaris. For those that have never been to a Club Med resort, and this was our first time, the GO’s are there to make your holiday as good as you will allow them to. Victor particularly did all that he could to make our stay as memorable as it could possibly be.

The resort is beautiful. The maintenance of the grounds is particularly impressive. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The variety of activities and water sports included in the package is excellent. In addition to those we took an optional boat trip from the resort which proved to be an excellent day out.

The food at the resort is buffet style and, on some days, barbecue. The food was excellent both in its quality and variety.

The entertainment was superb. The theatre shows, choreographed by Sean Ruby Barkat, were fantastic. The quality of the sets are incredible. Almost all of the GO’s are involved in the shows and Sean manages to make them all look like dancers. The entertainment after the shows was great fun. The GO’s do all that they can to get those that are willing into party mood. Most evenings the fun was in the main bar area. There is also a weekly pool party and a couple of weekly processions to a bar at the far end of the resort with regular rum stops. Incredible fun. If I have one small complaint it is that the music, on the whole, is ‘euro-disco’. It struck me that most of the people at the resort were older than the audience to which this kind of stuff is generally directed. I didn’t like it but the rum worked its magic and we danced anyway.

Both my new bride and I cannot recommend this resort enough. Our sincere thanks go to all of the staff for making our stay such a memorable one. Our particular thanks go to Victor. His attention to us, his conversation and his friendship will stay with us.

This was our first trip to Martinique but fourth or fifth to club med. We did not book our transfer with club med, you have to do it before arrival. The taxi should only be 90 euros fixed price but somehow ours ended up being 120. So be careful.

Arrival was normal standard, the usual drink and a warm towel. They walked us around the resort and eventually took us to our room. The room was tiny. It measured 15ft by 15ft including the bathroom and the closet. So about 21 square metres. The bed barely fit in the space and you had about 12 inches on either side to walk to the front. It also smelt bad, almost moldy. We weren't in the mood to walk back to reception to ask for changes. Our view from our deck was great but this resort is very dated so the paint was peeling and the furniture on the deck is what you find at discount stores. Dinner doesn't start until 730pm and there is no hot food after 6pm until dinner time.

So the logical question would be why am I giving it four stars. The place grows on you. The first day you try all the overcooked food, by day three you are know what you willing to eat - so you don't overeat and are actually nicely full. So food becomes more of nourishment to keep you body doing everything else that is enjoyable - and it absolutely enjoyable. The beach is amazing, you can stand knee deep and watch the fish circle around you. You can kayak, paddle board, win surf until your arms fall off. If tennis your game, you know the drill.

We were there during off season, if they hadn't moved some people from Turks to Martinique, there would have been only a handful of guests. There is downside to off season but the upside is you have no one of the beach or anywhere else. Except on weekends, the locals come in using their day passes.

The europecar rental is a great service. We rented a small car for the day and toured the island. Took in roadside meal. The various little towns are so European.

We loved this place in Martinique. Great club with tremendous nature around. Thow a great hurrican passed by, it was worth the trip. You have plenty of opportunities in the club and around Martinique. Try to speak french and everything is fine.

Room Tip: At least first floor in case of hurrican travel time. And please choose sea view = tremendous!!!

We went ,my husband and I,for the first time at Club Med . We truly enjoyed our stay! We spent a week in September ( right after hurricane Maria...) but the hotel was clean with no apparent damage and ready to receive us.The set up of the village is well done with building on one , two or three stories. Immaculate grounds and beautifully landscaped. As we went as a couple we enjoyed the quiet week (less than 50% occupation) as fully occupied will not have been good for us ( it is a family resort) ,we were able to enjoy the pool, the beach(there are 3 sections and one is very quiet) the clear water of the sea and buffet without being overcrowded. The food was excellent ( one offer :buffet only ) and with various food ( different them every night) .Our room was very clean and comfortable( thank you to Murielle )and well located. The service for beach towels was excellent and the employees in general very nice and helpful.Of course it is a French island ( we also speak french)but they are several GO,s who can assist you with different languages ( English, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese)and some other employee with English.Employees at reception desk were very courteous and attentive (Sylvie for or room, Jean Marc for the plug-adapter, , Corinne and Katia for check-in/out). All the GO,s were friendly, dynamic and professional ( special thank you to Arnaud, Victor , Thibaud, Alex and the great artist Chen who is an accomplish dancer, choreographer and singer, a true inspiration for his colleagues! We attended nice shows at night and we also danced with Go"s )The gym was small but good. The offer for sports was elaborated ( this is the strength of Club Med) and we enjoyed our group walk to the secluded beach Des Salines. We also visit the nearby village Ste Anne and we spent a day in the Capital ( Fort de France:really worth it) Our only criticism would be that the buffet is the only option. Would have been nice to have a second restaurant for a change, as well as the meal hours : breakfast 7:00 to 9:30 am(could be until 10:00) and dinner 7:30 to 9:30pm.(could start at 7:00pm) Options for snack should suit many people as well as they were not many .There is a small fridge in the room but is empty...we used it for our bottles our water. In general we loved our stay and will definitely recommend Les Bouccaniers! Club Med just earned 2 new members!!
