The hotel is located on a mani street, thus forget sleeping. Also, at 4:30 in the morning there a guy (city worked) using a leaf blower to clean the leafs from the sidewalk. Absolutely, impossible to sleep in this hotel. We stayed here 3 nights and we only slept one full night. We talked to the front desk about this and they said that they talked to the mayor about this issue and the city just doesn't care, they do what they want, when they want. The hotel is over priced...120 euro for a room with mold in the closet, we never unpacked our stuff, the room is quite small too and needs a good clean up and a paint job. The stuff is nice and friendly but that's not enough to ever stay here again, or recommend this hotel! The breakfast ends at 9 am, thus forget taking your time in the morning, you feel rushed at very step. And you don't feel like you getting the services you paid for. The location is good

Dear guest,
thank you for your comment.
The location of the hotel is indeed great becauseit's close to all the activites. But as it's in the center of the city, there is a city life that can be noisy.
All our rooms are different in size and price.
We regret that you didn't mentioned any problem with your room while you were here. We would have found a solution to make your stay confortable. Cleaning is a essential point of our hotel and we invite our client to tell us if there is any problem with their room.

Best regards

So this hotel was probably a very nice one some thirty years ago. Bit run down for European standards, but it has the uniqueness and a vintage "soul" that most modern hotels don't have. I liked it! The room I had were chilly and clean, however, the doors are not quite soundproof... The noice from town centre are very present in your room. There was apparently some frog squeaking outside all night when I slept there... If I had not brought my earplugs, I would not have slept very well. But I did! Thank you :)

Dear guest,

Thank you for your review.
We are delighted that you have been sensitive to the charm and athmosphere of the hotel.
But as it's in the center of the city, there is a city life that can be noisy.
If necessary, we have earplugs available at the front desk.
Looking forward to seeing you again in our property !

Hotel L'Impératrice is a beautiful vintage hotel in a great part of Fort de France (La Savane). The classic style and old-school charm make this place a wonderful stay for those who like such. They have a restaurant with good food and a perfect bar-lounge area along the street. It has a lot of quirks that come with an old building, so don't expect the newest state of the art fittings and you will like it for what it is. My most recent stay I had great wifi.

Unfortunately, it's not without it's faults. The biggest issue is that the hotel seems mis-managed. Understaffing is a serious issue at times. The clerk often times is the bartender and vise-versa, even when its busiest. The hotel has many guests from many different countries, but only half the time the person at the desk speaks English. This is a larger issue when there is only one person between the desk and bar as stated above. Overall service experience was good, but requires patience (some times a lot).

The hotel is in the best part of town. This is a blessing and a curse. Everything is in walking distance. Monuments, markets, ferries, and the cruise terminal. That said, the area around the hotel is particularly noisy into the early hours of the morning. Due to the old construction of the building, sound insulation is poor (very poor if facing Rue de la Liberte). If you are a light sleeper or have an early flight, I do not recommend this hotel.

The breakfast they offer leans more towards a continental breakfast with eggs you can boil yourself. The restaurant (Le Josephine) has good food, but was closed on my latest visit, and there was no food at the bar either.

After 3 stays here, I feel that I might take my business elsewhere. It was certainly cool to stay in such a vintage hotel though. Three stars for being cool and having no serious issues, but management and noise are a bit of a problem. It cannot keep skating-by on charm and location alone.

The hotel is located close to the shore and also close to a busy road and some busy stalls located in a small park by the shore that close very late at night. You will hear music, street noises and in some morning early, the sound of leave blowers as the park is getting cleaned up. Parking on the street or there is a municipal parking lot a few blocks away. If you happen to sit at the hotel restaurant outside rather than inside, you will be a subject of snatch and run thieves of whatever valuables happen to be in your hand or on the table or next to you. The police station is conveniently close, 2 blocks .away so you could report it

Caribbean style furnished room with a Balcony, views of Forte-de-France harbor. Ferries to the beaches of les Trois ILets close by. Ferry runs frequently, schedule posted on pier.Big Supermarket close by. We stayed during Carnival (just before Lent begins). There are some food shacks/tents in park across the street from the hotel. Some better restaurants closed during the parade but the shack eateries remained open during Carnival. L'Imperatrice offered a daily lunch special in the bar. Also their restaurant Le Josepine was open daily. The Balcony was wonderful to view the drum bands pass by during Carnival parades (every afternoon/night for 4 days). The roof was also accessible to view the parades. After the parades ended, locals would park their motorcycles in front of the hotel and continue the party. We used earplugs and rum to sleep at night successfully. We did not see any drunken brawls during the festivities. We ventured into the park across the street at night to view "Brazilian Wrestling" or dance to a Caribbean band. I found the hotel staff helpful. They monitored the Hotel entrance during Carnival. We felt safe there. Overall a magical experience for us.
