I liked it quite a lot even if I saw much better and the price is too high. 12,5 Euro and you can hardly stay more than 1,5 hours - it's not very big.

We took a shore excursion to Balata Gardens offered from our cruise stop in Martinique. It was about a 45 minute bus ride from the port in traffic but very nice once we arrived. There are trees and plants from all over the world. Nice layout and a comfortable walk. A portion of the walk takes you on elevated suspended walkways between the trees. Beautiful flowers and a number of photo opportunities. Gift shop has no problem with US dollars (on an island that takes only Euros).

Very well planned garden with well marked trees and species. we loved the hummingbirds near the main office. The canopy tour provided an interesting view. Great place for photography

I visited the gardens in the end of August. The weather was perfect and I could cherish the tropical lushness of the extensive interior the gardens offer. The views were jaw-dropping, and the skywalk 10 metres above the ground was a definite highlight. I spent there more than three hours, took tons of photos but it's my memories that are the sweetest souvenir of the visit. Worth coming back!

My trip to Martinique was brief. The most memorable site is the Balata garden which is situated in the northeast, on rout to Mt. Peele. It contains numerous exotic tropical plants and flowers. Huge hummingbirds are visitors' frequent companions. Even though I did not have time to explore the rest of the island, I did bring back with me a bottle of authentic Martinique rum. It is a special white rum, made directly from pure sugarcanes, highly concentrated.
