Owner description: One of the most popular beaches on the island, best known for its soft white sands and calm, sheltered waters.

We spent two weeks in Martinique and visited this beach often. As we were there over the Christmas Holiday, schools and businesses were closed and the beach a was a little busy, however nowhere near the crowd you would find in Waikiki, HI. Even at its busiest it wasn't that bad.
The sand is in great condition and there are plenty of places to find shade during the middle of the day. Depending on the winds, the waters were very clear as well. Remember to bring plenty of water and possibly a lunch. Vendors are available however can be a little pricey.

I went to Les Salines a couple of days ago and I came back with mixed feelings:

Pros:
- amazing crescent of sand
- a nice trail into the mangrove right behind the beach in case you get bored of lying in the sun

Cons:
- loads of waves, not so good for the kids as they cannot paddle on their own
- pretty beach = busy beach
- busy beach = somewhat dirty beach

Overall:
I would still go back as this is your typical picture perfect beach of the Caribbean, but beware, the idyllic setting can sometimes be very crowded.

You need to take your time and walk the coastal path from St Annes to Les Salines; The path follws a marked trail over the headlands and drops down to a couple of secluded beaches before reaching Les Salines. These are large sweeping bays of fine sand and great swimming, the nearer you get to Les Salines the bussier it gets, so take your time to enjoy the quiter locations along the way. Take a picnic and lots of water.

So, you came to the Caribbean for the palms and the white sand?
Les Salines beach is the Martinique answer to your search.
unfortunately the lack of substantial coral reef is the downside and it can not compete with other great beaches such as Grand Anse in GRENADA Island.

We took a walk from the Bucaneer's Creek Club Med village. It is a bit long but very nice, through a forest and you will see hundreds of different crabs on your way.
The beach itself is very nice with plenty of space and a lot of possibilities to eat.
