“Pura Vida in Vieques!”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

My family and a guest (Klarque) sailed with Capt. John on June 5th on an afternoon sail out of Esperanza. Capt John was waiting at the dock ready to go and excited about our excursion. The conditions werea little rough due to the solid 4 foot seas, but Capt. Made it seamless. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area and the waters around us. We felt completely at home and would not think of using anyone else if we return to Vieques. Happy sailing to Capt. John and his very pleasant deckhand Betty.

“captain john!”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

captain john was amazing even before our sail. we'd emailed to make plans before my family arrived in vieques. he then texted me once i was on the island to make sure we were good to go, and i asked if we could have a later start ... i understand an 8am start ... but my three teens were more interested in some more sleep! .... he was great with it .... and then on top of it, we ran late ... but he was kind and patient and accommodating and then we had a great trip.... we sailed to cayo blanco, he took us snorkeling (his gear for us), showed us particular features of the reef and spotted fish for us that we might have missed ..... he then fed us lunch ... and let my youngest sail the boat back. captain john and first mate dave were both kind and friendly. happy folks to spend the day at sea with.

“Highlight of our trip!!”
Reviewed May 27, 2014 via mobile

My boyfriend and I sailed with Capt John and his crewman Dave (also a pleasure), to Cayo Blanco for snorkeling followed by a sunset cruise. The whole trip was incredible. Not only is Capt John a sailor, but also a historian, comedian, and chef. He is highly knowledgable about the history of Vieques, the surrounding islands, and wildlife. While snorkeling, we saw beautiful coral, brightly colored fish, and even some large hermit crabs. He knew all of the species of fish by name and background detail (what they ate, etc). After working up an appetite, Capt John made us hummus (AMAZING) followed by lunch which was also delicious. As the sunset, Capt John allowed my boyfriend and I to have a shot sailing us back to the beach. There was really something for everyone while sailing with Ahoy Vieques, I would absolutely recommend the trip to anyone traveling to the island. Capt John and Dave helped to make our vacation extraordinarily memorable. We would have gone again if we had more time! Absolute pleasure!

“Highlight of our Vacation”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

Captain John Chartered us from Culebra to Vieques in early April. During the trip he gave us a full history of the two islands and was very knowledgeable about other activities to do on the island. Perfect sailing weather and he was even able to handle one of us becoming a bit seasick. He is a true captain of the sea and an entertainer as well. Cant wait to see him when we go back to Vieques. Thanks Captain!
