The Tin Box opened on Friday, March 8th, 2013. We went twice during our trip to visit the raw bar. Max, the on-site "mother shucker," provided great service as well as great conversation. This is the only raw bar on Vieques! We ate copious clams and oysters, and there was lobster and shrimp available as well. On our first visit, we brought in fresh conch meat from a conch we found on the beach (which a local helped us remove from the shell). We had no idea how to prepare it so we asked the chef Matt if he could help us out. He took it in the kitchen and 15 minutes later presented us with a beautifully plated conch ceviche, complete with organic arugula and tomatoes from the restaurant's garden. It was delicious!! We also enjoyed our "Bloodless Mary" cocktails, which contained blended herbs and pickled veggies from the garden. We had a great experience at The Tin Box and would recommend it highly! It's an especially nice change of pace from the bars on the malecon in Esparanza as there is more of a lounge feel here.
