“Better beaches but pretty cool”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

Pretty cool to see the black sand but it was about a 10min walk off the highway through jungle, can not drive cause path is too wooded but there are much better secluded beaches for relaxin

“Cool black sand”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

I had never seen a black sanded beach before, and it was worth the trip. Not hard to find at all, and worth the drive. No one really lays out there, so it's just a photo opt type of thing.

“Tough to find”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

We finally found the black sand beach after missing the sign a few times. Pretty cool to dig your toes into the black sand, but we didn't stay long. Other beaches are much better for hanging out.

“Interesting Hike to Get There”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

A lesser known beach for sure. The sand and waves were fun when we were there. You have to hike about 1/2 mile down an creek bed to get there. Lots of horses hand out there because of the fresh water. The clarity of the water isnt the best due to the abrupt shoreline drop off - but an interesting beach.

“A hike (not a day at the beach)”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

To get to this beach, you must park your car and hike a lengthy trail through the woods. The trail is narrow and requires that you walk through a creek most of the time. The wild horses use this creek as a toilet, so the water is dirty. This should not be done in sandals and street clothes. If you visit this beach dress for a hike, wearing athletic gear, and bring water. The beach is not spectacular. It is a small beach with tan sand and a small strip of black sand. I would visit this beach for an adventure hike - not to view beautiful scenary and/or a beautiful beach.
