A great place to stay!! Marie and harry were excellent hosts. The place was clean and comfortable and the poolside and rooftop views were spectacular. It's also conveniently close to the center of town, on the north side of the island which is quieter. A 15-20 minute drive to the south side of the island and all beaches! and I would highly recommend this place!! Thank you for your hospitality !
From the time we arrived to the day we had to leave everything was perfect. Harvey and Marie ROCK!! The place was spotless, the views were incredible, what a great place to relax and recharge. We truly enjoyed our time at La Roca and can't wait to go back!!
We can't wait to go back to Vieques! We will definitely stay at La Roca again. The location was perfect. The pool and house was clean.
We appreciated the cleanliness of the apartment and it had everything we needed. The owners take very good care of their place. Wish the living room drapes had continued across the whole wall thereby creating privacy at night. The drapes did not pull across the glass door and the window next to it.
My wife and I stayed in the east unit and loved this place. The view from both decks is beautiful and we slept with the windows open at night to hear the ocean and feel the cool breeze. The kitchen worked great for us and we really liked the layout of the condo, which is in very good shape. The pool was clean and very nice for a mid-afternoon swim. Wifi was good. Perfect dwelling for our 8 days on the island.

La Roca is a one-bedroom two unit with pool, located 400' from the North shore of Vieques, in the desirable Bravos de Boston neighborhood about 1/2 mile from the ferry dock in Isabel II. There are two rooms: great room with sofa and kitchen and sleeping room with bed, and bath separated by a glass brick partial wall. The pool is roughly 10' x 20' and 6' deep. The location is very quiet and private, near the end of a short drive, and 100' elevation. Because the unit faces north, it's does not heat oppressively from the sun and the typical easterly breeze rns from left to right across the deck. From the pool deck right outside the front door there are 180 degree views of PR, Culebra, and on a clear day the USVI. Coordinates are 18.156736 and -65.435941. The landscaping is mature and interesting, with large palms, hibiscus, bougainvillea, ixora, bird of paradise and much more. The rooftop has another much larger deck area with a table. Parking area accommodates two cars.
The two units are essentially identical. Construction is poured concrete and concrete block, so quiet. Water is provided by island piping (no cistern) and comes undersea from the mainland. Electricity and phone seem pretty reliable. Both units are furnished in a minimalist style, with the essentials for a comfortable vacation, including wifi, cable TV, the necessary kitchen appliances including blender, toaster oven, etc (no oven or dishwasher).
The owners live in North Carolina and PR, and have a local woman who handles the details for you in Vieques (meets the ferry, provides help with car rental if desired, etc).
Vieques is an interesting island, with lots of beaches, and coral reefs that were decimated by hurricanes, rising sea temperature, and the Navy use of the island, but show some signs of recovering slowly. The famous bio-bay is an off again on again proposition: sometimes the luminescence is very modest and underwhelming. The restaurants are collectively a gem: a variety of local and continental food, ranging from a top-rated food truck open on weekends only to white tablecloth haute cuisine. Prices are a bit less than the USVI, for example. There are small supermarkets and lots of things to explore in Isabel and the more beach strip city of Esperanza. The local people are on average friendly and accommodating of tourists, and English is spoken everywhere, although speaking Spanish will deepen the interactions with the permanent residents. There is a large expat US community, but not much human remnant of the Navy occupation.
Compared to USVI, Vieques is less developed, more friendly, worse snorkeling, cheaper.
