My husband and I stayed at the Hacienda for our 21st anniversary January 16-19, 2006 and loved it. This inn is not for the "high-rise" traveler. It is cozy, welcoming and is decorated lovingly by its owners with an eclectic collection of art and hand-crafted treasures. Our gracious and knowledgeable hosts, Linda and Burr, WERE available for advice and suggestions for meals and sight-seeing. Joey and Jim, our concierges, were helpful with reservations for jeep rentals(must do), dinners(Trade Winds, Cafe Media Luna), and the bio-bay tour (must, must do).
The rooms and views are beautiful (suggest room 23, Caribbean Deluxe). Full breakfast is yummy...big and filling (the condensed version of the Times is great) and the girls will cook up anything you like (within reason) and pack you box lunches for the beach.Even if you have an early flight home, they won't send you away hungry. Don't miss Burr's orientation...he is a plethera of information: funny, useful, historical and bizarre.
Take advantage of the honor bar: sign out some drinks and sit by the beautiful pool overlooking the caribbean when you arrive..wonderful. You can walk to the seaside town of Esperanza for dinner and more drinks within 10 minutes...very safe, but the road is a little dark after sundown.
The Inn, the people, the views, the location, the whole island is beautiful and make for an extraordinary vacation for anyone loving quiet beauty.
Highly recommended, we will be back.
