You must do this if you go to Vieques. We did the 8:00pm tour with the tour group that runs out of the W hotel. I recommend doing the later tour as there are less people out on the bay.

Thank Chad W

Bio Bay is a must try for everyone visiting Vieques. The secret is to go during new moon at night, because that's when the plankton is the most luminescent.

This was truly an amazing experience. Swimming is forbidden, but kayaking is great.

Online pics won't do this justice. It's something you have to see in person. Simply amazing. It's also supposed to be the brightest biobay in the world because of the high concentration of dinoflagelates vs other biobays in the world.

We took a kayak through the water and I don't think swimming is allowed anymore. Try to go with a small group with no kids. Was stunning.

We went with Abe's. Our guide, Carlitos, was great. He was informative and enthusiastic. He even climbed a coconut tree and showed us all how to break them open and enjoy the coconut milk inside. The snorkeling was only so so at Sun Beach, but the Bio Bay...this was so amazing. I have never seen anything like it. We kayaked out through the mangroves which was super cool, then as it gets darker and the more you splash, the more the plankton glow a brillant frosty blue. Its best to go when the moon is darkest. This was my first time kayaking and was not at all difficult to paddle. The double kayaks are big and stable and I felt perfectly at ease even though it was a night paddle. Although they would not let us swim in the bay because they want to keep human soaps/repellants etc from harming the plankton as well as the organisms die once out of the water, I was very pleased with our trip and just being able to experience it. I hope to return again with my fiance and show him this amazing wonder.

You have to go to this on the Island. Used Blackbeard Sports. Laura our guide was well informed and a great host. Amazing and something that a picture cannot capture.
