“Over-rated, unfortunately”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2012

We went with Abe's and did not care at all for our guide. He was constantly sarcastic, complained about being over-worked and herded us along in an impersonal fashion. Maybe our experience would have been different with a glass-bottomed kayak which I don't think this company has. Also, if the guide had been respectful and allowed us to find the beauty in the surroundings, perhaps we would have felt otherwise.

“Bio bay is cool-- but not as great as I expected.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2012

After reading the apoplectic reviews, perhaps I set my expectations too high. We went with island adventures as we had a party of 6, 2 of whom are over 60 and didn't want to kayak. Our guide gave us "just the facts mam"-- if my kids had been in elementary school, rather than teenagers, they would not have understood a word. That being said, we had a nice dark, still night and it was magical gliding silently over the thick water, with flashes of blurred light skidding away on all sides. When they bring the water on board and you can see the individual flashes of light in your hand--that is the highlight. We enjoyed the commentary on the constellations as well. The bus ride there and back is an endurance contest, but we knew what to expect as we had driven that way to navio beach before. Extremely bumpy. So I would recommend it, but it was a subtler phenomenon than I expected.

“Amazing Phenomenon, but ... nothing much to see”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2012

We went with a lot of expectations. We though the entire bay will be lit up. While the phenomenon of bio luminescence is amazing, it is NOT AT ALL worth visiting a bio bay to see it.
All we saw was the ripple created by our boat lighting up a small (inches) area. The luminescence was so bad, my wife did not notice at first. And it was supposed to be one of the best days to visit since the moon was dark.

I would say skip it. Instead light a torch in your bath tub and watch it glow.
