Owner description: This rather remote beach is scenic and breathtaking with a mildly rugged coastline and perfect waters for swimming and snorkeling.

Secret Beach (also known as Pata Prieta) is a small beach situated in a cove. Gorgeous white sand and crystal blue water with VERY calm surf. This is a great beach for swimming or just standing in the water with a cold beer, as we did. Some trees along the back of the beach provide shade whenever you need a break from the sun. It was our favorite beach on Vieques!

out of the way, not so secret because others were there. The water was beautiful and calmer than red beach. It was a little hard to find and the road was bumpy but worth the ride. We loved our little secret beach

Do not be fooled by the name. Although this was a gorgeous location, it is definitely not a secret! This was by far the busiest beach we visited that day! We found much less crowded options further out on the reserve that were just as beautiful.

Out of all the beaches in Vieques, Pata Prieta (or secret beach...nobody called it that) was by far my favorite. Though there is limited shade and sand fleas in the afternoon, the water is the clearest and most beautiful. There was also great snorkeling on both sides of the beach. On the left side, the coral was very close to the surface of the water but you will see gorgeous fish. If you have younger children, snorkel by the rocks on the right side of the beach. You can see just as much there. The water here is extremely calm. Don't hesitate to come here, you won't regret it!!

While there’s nothing secret about this spot, also known as Pata Prieta beach, it didn’t feel terribly crowded. Also, the water is “como un plato” — Puerto Rican slang for describing a sea so calm that it resembles a plate. Better yet? It is so easy to get to.

I would highly recommend Pata Prieta Beach to families with kids and anyone seeking to calm, inviting place to lounge at. Also, there’s a reef nearby, so if you snorkel, bring your own equipment.
