Stayed for three nights and very much enjoyed the hotel. Stayed in Ocean Front Room, well laid out and comfortable. Pool especially enjoyable. Grounds of property are wonderful, with plenty of places to sit and relax all through the resort. Staff generally ok, but not especially knowledgeable, particularly the concierge. We inquired as to snorkling trip and tour of the islands and she just gave us a list of providers. She did not offer any insight as to which to choose, nor were they able to give us any general info on the experience, which parts of the island to visit, etc. Since that is main activity of island, not sure what else they do. Overall nice experience.

Room Tip: ocena front down the shore, away from pool and main building which can be busy and noisy.

If you want romance and seclusion at a fine hotel, this is it. It is so secluded you have to realize all the prompt services are not going to be there every moment. Less people means less people, period. BUT, it is clean and the food is good. I heard many of the resturants on the island are great. Wade was excellent at the hotel. There is not much they won't do for you. The view is like Hawaii and the island is still un touched in so many areas. Don't miss this special tree they showed us on the bike tour. At first I thought, oh another tree but the details and the story is amazing. Do be careful of the wild horses, they do tend to run and although someone on the island really does own them, they run the island free. It is still a secret that you will enjoy uncovering.

Room Tip: Face the ocean. Breathtaking.

The property is very nice, and the location is quite good, but for the money, there are better places. I need to stay at more places on Vieques to offer a better hotel on the island, but I'd try somewhere else next time. I'm probably stuck too much on the cost, which was very high, but it's just not a good value. It just feels like they are sticking the highest possible price on every single aspect of the trip, and the service, quality and accommodations are just not in the price range they are charging. We spent over $2000 for six nights, not counting food, equipment rental, or any other fees. Nothing was special. Wild horses on property was cool.

The hotel is beautiful-very chic. The room I had was large and very hip. The location and the views are fabulous. Having said that this hotel does not deliver a four star experience by any means. Check in is supposed to be 4pm-I was not able to get into my room till after 5pm-and there were no apologies and no effort to make me feel comfortable while I had to wait. My room upon arrival seemed to be clean enough but during my stay the staff did not clean the room well at all-in fact it was so poor that i had to call the front desk to see if they were planning on coming back. The clerk replied that the room had been cleaned and when i explained that it was not cleaned well at all. he said Im sorry what would you like me to do? YIKES-this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. One day they left soap in the room the next day they left some other products which made me realize that they clearly were not paying attention to the details. The food was poor to really poor so if you plan to stay at this hotel rent a car and go outside of the hotel for your meals. I asked for a apple martini and they did not know how to make it and did not have the ingredients to make one-again not a four star experience. I was impressed with the views and the decor but the service and attention to detail in not there.

A remarkably beautiful spot about a 5 minute drive from the little airport that is a short flight from San Juan.

On arriving at the little airport the W has a little reception area right at the airport where the W runs a shuttle bus to the property - very nice touch getting off your little prop plane and then having a rum drink before being taken over to W property.

The property is beautiful and right on the beach (which is on the north end of the island so an "Atlantic" beach. We did not have any recent severe weather so the beach was fairly calm with 2 foot breakers - nice for anyone looking for fun in the ocean.

The staff was attentive, polite and generally helpful. Not overly attentive as at the St. Regis but really a nice compromise between useful, informative and laid back. The overall atmosphere was relaxed and that was appreciated.

The pools is fantastic with different levels connected by little waterfalls. The pool also had underwater speakers so if you like the local music, you'll get to hear it underwater as well.

There were plenty of chairs with shade, including some floating chairs in a little covered are where you could relax in the shallow water. The pool service was generally good and the food was moderately expensive but not insane like the St. Regis. A cocktail was $14-15 and a burger about $14. You expect to pay a bit more at a beautiful remote location and seemed reasonable. The pool overlooks the beach and is a 2 minute walk for those who like the sand and saltwater. We were surprised to not see any hot-water spa in the vicinity of the pool.

The rooms are a bit cave-like and dark (as described by another reviewer) but nicely appointed with modern fixtures and a cool freestanding tub. They could do with another dresser as draw space was minimal at best. We were in a room on the ground level by the pool and didn't hear any pool noise at night. We did, however, hear the loud pounding bass beat of the beach party that went on past 11 pm for a corporate group that had about 40 guests whooping it up a bit too late - really?

There a free drink at the bar each night from 6-6:30 and a cool outdoor fire pit - a good place for a drink after dinner. There's also a badly warped pool table in the lobby which provided surprising entertainment for me and my 11 yo son.

The highlight of our trip was a 4 hours tour of the island with Angie Adams (Perez) - (vqstours@gmail.com - 787 397-2048) who was born and raised on Vieques and had lots of great information to share with us. She also seemed to know virtually everyone on the island and that was a nice touch. We got her name from the concierge at the St. Regis Hotel in PR and then the concierge at the W resort knew her as well (but somehow she's not on their list of preferred guides).

She's obviously someone who is proud and knowledgeable about the heritage and history of the island and took us all over, including a stop for dinner in Esperanza before taking us over to the "Biobay" as Mosquito Bay for our evening adventure. As per all the other reviews, its a long, very bumpy road to get to the bay and then you paddle out in little boats to see the glowing water, but it is really quite interesting and not a bad way to spend a couple of hours. Its a very quiet, serene experience and definitely worth doing. We went with Eric from Biobay tours and he made it a fun and pleasant experience.

You have to check out the Chicken King for ice cream - its a really nice touch of local flavor.

Vieques is a beautiful destination for relaxation and a bit of adventure and I'm sure we'll return. The W
