“Not a 4 Star Tour At All but the Bio Bay Is Worth a 5.”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

I was quite disappointed by this tour. PLEASE NOTE: I am only reviewing the tour itself and not the Bio Bay (which would easily be a 5 star experience). The person who took our reservation was very kind and was nice enough to let us know that our original tour time of 7 PM was full of kids so we opted to do the later tour.

The guide picked us up a little past the time they would pick us up. Apparently he came 15 minutes before the time he was supposed to get us and swung by our meeting time a bit later. We were supposed to start the tour at 10:00 PM but of course didn't. There was a group that was late and we didn't get on the road until a little past 10:30 PM. The way there was a VERY bumpy and nauseating ride to the bio bay in a van. It felt like we were off-roading, so brace yourself for this.

There were 28 people on our tour, WAY too many if you ask me. By the time we got to the bay and all set up it was 11:00 PM. The actual tour was about 30 minutes long. It wasn't as hard to see on the moonless night as I had read about in reviews and forums on the Internet. I'm sorry, but the guide did not tel me anything about the bioluminescent bay that I couldn't have already read about on the Internet. He talked for about 10 minutes before he lets us roam around the bay on our own, something I didn't need to set up a tour for. He did talk to other people about the tour but not directly to the group, so it felt very isolating and well...not like tour if you ask me. We broke everything down at 15 until 12:00 AM, so let me advise you that the tour is nowhere near 2 hours and the the guides do not provide you with that great of information. Mosquito Bay itself was super awesome, and even though the bay was not as bright as depicted on the Internet pictures (those are definitely photo shopped), it was still an amazing sight and was really phenomenal to touch.

Overall, go to the bio bay if you're in Vieques. You won't regret it. Whatever you do don't use Abe's Snorkeling & Bio Bay Tours.

“Amazing”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

We were booked to have a day of snorkeling, beach picnic and biobay tour. The visibility was not great that day so we went beach hopping instead of continuing to snorkel. We kayak surfed which was great fun. Our guide, Jeffrey, was outstanding in his entertainment skills, flexibility in pulling a new plan together when it was clear that the first was not working well.
The mangrove swamp kayak tour was almost mystical and the bioluminescent bay is a life changeing experience. Defininely wear a rash guard and wear mosquito repellent. We did both and it worked brilliantly
Thank you for making this one of my most unforgettable vacations. We will be back!

“The bay was great the company was ok”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

It's impossible not to love the bioluminescent bay in Vieques. It's just amazing. Our guide Jeffrey was very good as well. The only thing that was problematic about this company was that our group was HUGE. I really wished we'd had a smaller group. It took quite a long time to mobilize, get paperwork signed and get out on the kayaks. Other than that-- really liked the tour.

“ehhh, well the bay was neat”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

too many people on the kayak tour to make it enjoyable, and wear long sleeves, long pants, and a face net! we were all getting bit by mosquitoes and no see-ums! two early-twenties dingalings could not row their kayak, had to be tied to end of tour guide. other idiots in kayaks wanted to rock nearby kayaks, juvenile behaving members bummed those of us who really wanted to enjoy the bio bay. the tour guide was very informative, and tried to make it fun, a smaller group would have been better

“Accept no substitutes.”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

We went with Abe's biobay tour. Our guide Jeffery was absolutely fantastic. His knowledge of and passion for the Vieques and the biobay is absolutely incredible. He went so above and beyond to ensure that everyone in our group was able to get the most out of their experience. Though our group had some less-experienced kayakers, he ensured that everyone was able to go a reasonable pace and safely (this involves kayaking in the dark FYI). Can't say enough good things about this company and Jeffery. Definitely made for an incredible experience. Highly recommended!
