“Total Winner! The Only Beach with Parking. Breathtaking.”
Review of Caracas Beach

In Vieques, there are a few gorgeous beaches, Caracas (the Red Beach) of course being one of them. When we arrived on the island, the locals and tourists alike said that La Chiva (or the Blue Beach) is the best beach there is. I beg to differ. Indeed La Chiva is breathtaking but I think it creates more hype because it is more authentic and wild, so to speak (there are many spots where the sand is not white and is covered with lots of branches and what not); so in that sense it is a wild beach. Not to worry, Caracas and La Chiva, along with other beaches, are only a few minutes’ drive apart; so you will get to see all of them. Caracas beach is a Laguna with beautiful clear turquoise waters; it is calm, almost no waves and you have quite a few steps to move forward before the waters get deep. It is not a very lengthy beach but there aren’t very many people (even in season, as per locals) so you will find a beautiful spot with no problem. Caracas is the only beach in Vieques with parking; none of the beaches have vending machines nearby so bring food and lots of water with you. Relax and enjoy; it is really a gorgeous beach.

We visited almost every beach in Vieques, but this one is our favourite! Scenic and secluded, sugary white sand, crystal water in different shades of blue and green!! Didn't want to leave..

This is probably my second favorite (after Media Luna.) The waves are mellow, the water is crystal clear (no seaweed when we were there), and the sand was fine. The view is the tropical view you want: beautiful blue waters, palm trees. Go here, for sure.

Fine sugary white sand beach! One of the best this side of the Carribean. The water is clear, underwater visibility is like 30 yards despite the current. The beach is like in a cove. The middle part of it is good for swimming even for kids. If you like a calmer water, walk further to the right side of the beach. You'll get bigger surf if you walk on the left part of the cove. There are no shades, no merchants selling foods or drinks nor renting chairs and umbrellas so bring your own. No shower facilities either just a port-a-let. There are shady trees but may not be enough if you plan to stay the whole day. There are no life guards and not much swimmers so just be aware. This is definitely one of the best beaches I have ever visited.

We spent a week on Vieques a few months back and Caracas or Red Beach was our favorite beach. It was big enough to give you some room, not too crowded and easy enough to access. The water was a beautiful light shade of blue and quite warm for swimming. We visiting many of the widely known beaches once and visited this one three times while on the island.

You should note that there are picnic tables but not much else at Caracas Beach.
