This is where everyone hikes, it is beautiful, but go early. Also bring a swimsuit. The pool at the base will call you to jump in.

I am not one to hike just to hike. Sorry hikers! When I begin a hiking trail, I there to be a payoff- a waterfall, a landmark, a lake, something. The Mine trails is a moderately hard trail I would say and I am a young male. From the main road of Yunque to the waterfall, it takes about 20-25 minutes to do the trails. There was never direct sunlight as we were shaded by the trees. There are man made shaded areas to sit, rest and snack. There are step hills you mnust walk up and down. Bring a swim suit if you want to swim at the falls.

Safe Travels!
James :)

Our family group of five, ages 16-70, climbed the Yokahu Tower on the way to trail and then hiked the trail. We stopped only when we reached the falls. The trail has very few level portions and probably took us about 40 minutes each way. With the heat and humidity, even in October, it's advisable to bring plenty of water.

This trail is within the El Yunque National Rain Forest. We spent a 1/2 day there doing this hike, swimming in the La Mina Falls, and then climbing the nearby Yokahu Tower for a great view. The trail was cool in that it followed the river, but was not the top thing we enjoyed out of all those I listed. Pack a swim suit and good walking shoes.

Its worth taking this trail as its very beautiful and not so demanding as some may think, there are rest stops along the way and the possibility of taking a refreshing break at the river falls.
