“Great Private Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

You need to find when the ferry leaves and if it is operating at all. Sometimes they close it and Ferry is not available. It is a private beach where you can also do some hiking. I had an awesome day with my friends and enjoyed every minute of it. Bring Food and water with you. Always beware of the time as the Ferry will leave on time. Beaches are beautiful and in pristine conditions, awesome scenery and some wild life. Great Family Adventure.

“Surreal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

My husband and I have a home in PR and so we vacation there yearly, usually February/March. On our last trip we visited Isla de Caja de Muertos. We've spent many days lying around soaking rays and enjoying the beautiful warm turquoise waters of the island but none have been as gorgeous as one the one shore we happen to discover on this small island . Upon arrival my husband and I claimed a small patch of white sand not far from where the ferry docked and took off to explore! We hiked to the light house and checked out all the interesting cacti and succulents this side of the island had to offer (we live in the north of PR and it is VERY green due to the rains) but at one point in our hike we reached a clearing and there it was, behold, a body of water so indescribable !!! I can only call it surreal. My husband and I have been to many beaches in PR but the waters of this one tops them all. There wasn't any sand we could lay our towels upon just brush and big rocks but it really didn't matter because the waters were calling us. We couldn't get enough of the clear and tepid infinite pool of water. Unfortunately we reached this spot a little late and so we had to end the adventure all to soon for us. When we returned we arrived to a boardwalk very alive with music. Plenty of food being served and vendors selling all sorts of things. We grabbed a bite to eat and had several drinks and then had the opportunity to dance to locals play great salsa. Ahh and here we are, one year later with tickets in hand for our February/March vacation. Our first Saturday on the island will be spent well you know where... Ponce watch out, here comes a couple of Arecibenos for some fun in the sun, fantastic food and to dance the night away!!!!!!

“great ferry ride, private beach with loads on conch shells”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

We went with the ferry at the port in Ponce. Had trouble calling them; recommend calling at least a day in advance. Phone number is at their sign in the port; we called 787-842-8546. Ferry ride was very much a party atmosphere. Like others said, bring everything for a 5-6 hour stay; we bought a soft-side cooler at Walmart in Ponce. Walked to lighthouse (nice view) and deserted beach at the end of the trail (little over 1 mile). The beach was private - we only saw one other couple and we saw thousands of large conch shells. Used the cooler and laundry to cushion a few shells for the flight home.

“Beautiful day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

We went to Caja de muertos with island excursions. It was $53 per person and this included food and drinks so that was a good deal. They do two trips a day, one at 9:00 and the other at 10:30. We took the 10:30 trip. The boat didn't come until 11 and the check in process didn't start for another half an hour and it was extremely slow. We didn't get going to around 12:30 which really annoyed me but the rest of the trip was great. Each person gets 10 tickets for food and drinks so if you want a beer or soda it's only one ticket each. We didn't even use all of our tickets. The trip to the island is around 45 mins. Once you're there if you want drinks or chips just walk back to the boat and you can get them. The water is beautiful but there isn't a lot of beach but what is there is very soft and nice. You can rent chairs and umbrellas there too. It's a great way to spend the day in Ponce.
