If you like art, especially paintings from the 19th Century as well as the Renaissance, the Ponce Museum has probably one of the largest collections in the Western Hemisphere. Yes, it's more than just the best art museum in Puerto Rico or the Caribbean, it has global weight and significance, with many unique pieces living here! So to find this place in Ponce just blows your mind.
The Museum was recently renovated and its awesome modern architecture contrasts well with the pieces. Now instead of grouping them by age, they have done something interesting which is group them by themes, bringing together art that is centuries apart so you can see how different artists treated similar subjects across history.
In a word, Wow. Definitely worth the trip to Ponce, and even could be worth a trip to Puerto Rico just to see this place.
