It took us over 3 hours in our rental to find this hotel, once we arrived we discovered it to be very nice but directions given to us were AWFUL! It is attached to the Embassy Suites and this is all they needed to tell us when giving directions. It has a nice beach and the pool area is nice and clean. We only spent one night there as we wanted (read my husband) to visit the satellite, areceibo, before we left for our cruise.

Room Tip: Ask for a ocean front, not ocean-view. Our room had washer/dryer/ and full kitchen.

Although we arrived righ at 3:00pm, check in process was smooth and fast. The front desk personnel was kind and well informed. The hotel met all of our requests for a high floor with ocean view. The room was clean and everything worked. There is some missing furniture in the living room and most of the in-room amenities are dated. The tv is still a tube unit but it works ok. We booked a one room suite with a very comfortable king bed and hot tub. This unit is very spacious and the jacuzzi worked perfectly. There are two restaurant to choose from: a chinese outfit and the poolside bar. Both are ok for a typical hotel meal. For breakfast GSV provides an excellent service at the golf course's clubhouse. Prices there are very reasonable and the food is good. There is a breakfast buffet at the Embassy Suites next door but we did not use it. The beach is man made but it does the trick. Never like one of Puerto Rico's natural beaches. The pool is adequate but on weekends and in the Summer time it gets crowded. Having a golf course and pro shop on the premises is a plus. There are many neaby restaurants, pharmacies, and shopping centers to choose from in Dorado, but you need a car in order to reach and enjoy them. In general I recommend this hotel and all it's amenities. It is only half an hour from San Juan and accessible to the Prime Outlets in Barceloneta, the Camuy Caves, and the Arecibo Radiotelescope. All due to it's closeness to the PR 22 expressway. Enjoy it!

Room Tip: High floor facing East.

This villa was in a gated golf community. Very lovely grounds with a casino next door. The staff was friendly and helpful and most everyone spoke English. The pullout out couch was comfy and new, and there was a full kitchen along with a washer and dryer. The hot water in the shower wasnt hot, only warm, and they ran out of washcloths for 2 days. The balcony was a good size and nice, with a table and a few chairs outside. The private beach was magnificent. It would have been better to have bar service on the beach, but the bar by the pool wasnt too far away. Beautiful views, clean room and friendly staff. I would recommend this to familys and friends, but not necessarily a honeymoon or couples get away.

The grounds are nice, pool area is great, kid friendly. The Bar provides great service, the do run a rounds offering to get something for you. As for the rooms I found that the cleanliness was adequate, the 2bedroom rental is great for families, very specious & fully equipped.. The downside is that all furniture is very dated & very uncomfortable due to the wear. If they would update their furniture it would be excellent!

If you select this property in Dorado you will need to rent a car. Do not depend on public or private transportation. Also, call the hotel and request directions step by step since if its not that easy to find.

Please note this hotel connected to the Embassy Suites Dorado. They share the same pool, beach, gym and common amenities. However, since you are staying in the Golden Sand Villas formerly known as Aquarius Vacation Club.

I spent a week on March at the Sand Villas 2 bedroom... Please note you can no do check in at the Embassy but a the back of the hotel; really nice entrance with a another front desk area. No one will assist you with your luggage but they have plenty of bell carts for your use. Remember this villas are equip with fridges, microwaves, small 2 stove, washer, dryers, utensils and dishwasher. (fully equip). Normal check in time is at 4PM so if you have time to kill before you get to the hotel I strongly recommended. If not you are going to be stuck with a car full of groceries for the week while you wait. You can also change and use the facilities while you wait for the room; they have bathrooms by the pool area.

I agreed with other reviews since they really need to update the rooms. Mattresses are a disgraces in both rooms and carpet needs to be replace. I have children so I travel with a PSP3 so at night they can be busy. However, TV's were so old the "big boxes" and no input for anything. No Ipod dock either in any of the rooms. WIFI was not available in any of the rooms or the pool area for us. However, free WIFI in the lobby. I was not planning to spent every night with my children in the lobby. Management please note WIFI is not a luxury anymore its a necessity.

If you stay at the Villas no one will go in to the room to clean your room or change towels. Traveling with children you always running out of towels you need someone to at least do the beds. Not part of the service they offer for the Villas. Remember this is some type of vacation club. (that's why the washer and dryer in the room). At check out I learn for an extra charge they will go and do your room. Not exactly my cup of tea...additional charges for cleaning your room.

I like to order food while at the pool or the beach area. Its vacation so from time to time a nice piña colada at the pool with a nice burger. You can't charge your room. You need to have a credit card (at a pool area where you need to leave things unattended). So I have to get all the children head to the room bring the card and then order the food. Not acceptable for me. Rules are rules so we have to learn with them.

Casino on site makes fun for the nights a so the live music on weekends and entertainment. A lot of great restaurants outside the hotel so wonder around its worth it.

Staff at the front desk did the job right and they were friendly with my children. This property is nice for families if you want to stay in a low budget place. Your expectations needs to be minimal. Nice view and nice pool área… really simple… not a lot to do in the area if you don't play golf or you don't like to drive around at night.

Still I will come back and recommend if they invest in the rooms.
