Hotel El Colonial is located in the middle of the town of Mayaguez. It used to be a convent and they are really proud of their past keeping the history alive with pictures and informatio. It is a beautiful place to stay and relax. Calm atmosphere, excellent service, clean, and refreshing. The rooms are big and comfy.

A no frills hotel located near Mayaguez's central square. The rooms are small- having been a former convent it's too be expected, but comfortable. If you're simply looking for a home base while you explore the island this is perfect. Good price, accessible parking, 24 hr desk service. They serve a small continental breakfast but the Ricomini bakery is only a couple blocks away for more substantial meals. On top of everything you'd be supporting a local business!

Great experience. Very friendly staff. Room was clean and offered all basic needs. Price is excellent compared with other hotels in the area. Parking was available inside the hotel. The city main streets are away from hotel and traffic noise was not an issue. Location is perfect if you want to explore the city. Recommend to visit Ricomini Bakery. The bakery is located near the hotel and offers a great variety of local food & sweets.

We showed up around 4 AM with no reservation. Got a room for $75. I was exhausted, needed to shower & sleep. One of the strangest rooms I have ever stayed in. The room was very small with NO WINDOWS! The ceiling was quite low with a concrete beam going through it at less than 6'. I'm over 6'tall so I had to be careful not to bash my head enroute to the bathroom. The room seemed like a converted storage space. It was clean & comfortable, the hotel building was nicely restored. They offered a "continental breakfast" which was basic at best. I would stay here again but be sure to get a different room.

Room Tip: See the room before you check in.

Excellent, great service & Clean! It was a small room but with exact needs. Near many interesting places and beach. We definitely had a good experience. We booked thru Expedia and they did not have availability I was so angry but the personnel at Colonial did make it happened!!! Hospitality at first!
