We only had piña coladas. The bartender was friendly, talkative and offered to take our pictures. The atmosphere was quaint. The piña coladas were yummy. It was the perfect end to our site seeing day. I only wish I had the time for another one!

Like many reviewers, we were roaming the streets of San Juan on cruise day. We actually asked a local policeman for a recommendation and he told us to visit Barrachina, which was right around the corner. I had to try the Pina Colada since this is the supposed birthplace of that drink (who knows?!) We were just looking for an appetizer to go with our Pina Colada and husband's beers. The appetizer was on the small size and not particularly good. Jorge was the bartender and he was polite, but really did nothing to make the visit memorable (like other reviewers suggested). In fairness, he has a busy job dishing out all those Pina Coladas!

Anyway, we went and had a few cold ones, but would probably stop someplace less touristy next time.

Had the best fish ever called Mero fillet, with a professional cooking! Good combination with banana "cake" rice and beans.

To drink... Piña colada! Best in town!

We made a reservation here because of the hype surrounding the birthplace of the pina colada. We visited the restaurant on January 28th as part of our stop in San Juan from our cruise. Basically, I thought the food was just plain not good. My wife's Pina Colada was OK but that was it. I would not recommend the restaurant.

This is where the Pina Colada came from so you must try it. While you are there try the red snapper, eat it for lunch or dinner but get it, you will love it. Also Special mention and thanks to the bartender Jorge. Not only does he make good drinks but he is like a tour guide that will put you in the right direction. Barrachina should be your first stop when you hit town and I promise you that you will visit everyday. Jorge is under paid for the service that he provides, he is part of Old San Juan. Thank you my friend!
